SYMPTOMS
When attempting to run one of the internal plugin tools, the following error occurs:
ERROR
---------------------------The selected application: <Path>\java.exe cannot be found.
or "Java.exe file not found"

CAUSE
This issue can result from one of the following causes:

You do not have java installed or you may not have a certified version of Java for your P6 release.
You do not have the proper permissions to access the required java.exe.
The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not properly defined.
The path or location where JRE was installed differs from the JAVA_HOME variable.
In some environments, installing P6 to a path with Special Characters in it may cause issues.

SOLUTION
Solution Cause 1:
1. Download and install the certified version of Java for your P6 release: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/archive139210.html
2. Restart your computer once the install is complete.

Refer to the tested configuration document for your release to download and run a certified JRE.

Solution Cause 2:
Verify that the minimal user permissions have been set.
Instruction for applying minimal requirements to P6 can be found in the P6 Security Guide.
Within the guide, see the Safe Deployment of P6 section.
Refer to the Minimum Client Permissions Needed for P6.

Solution Cause 3 and 4:
Open the System Properties (Start --> Control Panel --> System)
Click on the Advanced tab.
Click on Environment Variables
Locate the system variable JAVA_HOME and modify to point to the correct directory (Example: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6).

When installing P6, select an installation folder without special characters in the path
