PUP OFFICE OF THE LEGAL AID

The PUP Office of the Legal Aid (PUP OLA) is the extension wing of the
Polytechnic University of the Philippines-College of Law. The PUP OLA was
created on August 15, 2014 with a purpose of providing legal assistance to
indigents of Manila. The PUP OLA has conducted several activities and programs
as well as legal clinics and outreach programs inside the PUP Campus and to
various barangays within Manila. PUP OLA provides free legal counselling,
education and aid to the deserving underprivileged and indigent sector of the
society.

Vision
A quality and excellent Office of the Legal Aid (OLA) that will assist the
underprivileged and deserving members of the society in attaining justice and
fairness in the field of law.
Mission
The OLA aims for a quality, responsive and highly competitive legal office that
will assist in the efficient administration of justice through adequate legal
services and to provide the students of the College of Law relevant activities that
will enhance their skills and abilities to be just, conscientious and responsible
future lawyers.
The PUP OLA is not a mere center of charity but instead it is an office which
provides means for the correction of social imbalances that may and often do
lead to injustice through its various programs such as traditional and
developmental lawyering.
PUP OLA Programs
1. Traditional Legal Aid Program. Through this program, students and
apprentice are trained to write and prepare pleadings, to appear in court
hearings, meditation and arbitration proceedings.
2. Developmental Legal Aid Program. This program has the following
objectives.
a. To conduct trainings and seminars to local government units or
other sectors of society.
b. To give free legal counselling to the underprivileged and deserving
members of the society.
c. To conduct developmental lawyering through outreach activities
such as jail visitation, barangay outreach and free legal counselling.

PUP OLA Committees:


1. Training Committee.

Organize and conduct trainings and seminars for the PUP OLA
Members.

2. Case Management Committee.

Write and prepare pleadings, to appear in court hearings, meditation


and arbitration proceedings.

3. Extension Program Committee.

Conduct developmental lawyering through outreach activities such as


jail visitation, barangay outreach and free legal counselling.

4. Research Committee.

Prepare modules for Extension Programs and jurisprudence for Case


Management.
