EATONTOWN - In a few short years, Fort Monmouths main post will be transformed into a hub of
economic and community activity, officials said in a
news conference with local media Thursday.
The conference was held to let the community
know whats new at the fort.
You will see things accelerate rather dramatically, said James V. Gorman, the chairman of the Fort
Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority, the
team leading the economic return of the shuttered
Army installation.
The press event at the Marina at Oceanport featured many of the movers and shakers involved in the
redevelopment.
People can see the transformation for themselves
too, now that the fort is open to public traffic for the
first time since 2001.

Freedom Pointe
One of the highlights of the news conference was a
rendering of Freedom Pointe, the name Fort Monmouth Parcel B Redevelopment is calling the 89-acre
mixed-used development at the forts main gate. The
group is in exclusive negotiations with FMERA to
buy the 89 acres.
It will give a significant facelift to the appearance
of the post along Route 35 in Eatontown. Thats if all
the elements envisioned by the projects developer,
Fort Monmouth Parcel B Redevelopment, come together.
Construction on this project is expected to start at
the end of this year and be completed by 2019.
This will be the crown jewel of Fort Monmouth.
We truly want this to be a place that people dont want
to leave, said Lee Zakaria, vice president of ParaSee PROJECT, Page 4A

TOMS RIVER - Ocean County government has been

subpoenaed for financial and other business records
connected to a federal investigation into county Republican Party Chairman George R. Gilmore, the Asbury
Park Press has learned.
The subpoena, delivered by an FBI agent at the close
of business Wednesday, orders the county to produce
all retainer agreements, resolutions or contracts for
services by Gilmore or his Toms River law firm, Gilmore & Monahan, according to a copy of the subpoena.
The order also demands the county surrender all invoices, bills or payments connected with the firm, as
well as all minutes and recordings where Gilmore or a
representative of the firm were present to provide legal services.
Gilmore is not believed to have had any professional
legal contracts with Ocean County government, at least
not in recent years. Similar subpoenas have been issued
to local governments throughout Ocean County where
Gilmore or his firm serve as the municipal attorney.
Ocean County Administrator Carl W. Block said
Thursday night that all inquiries about the matter were
being referred to John C. Sahradnik, the countys general counsel.

New Jersey hospitals would be hit hard by the repeal of Obamacare if Congress doesnt replace it with
a law that would include similar levels of insurance
coverage, their trade group said Thursday.
Hospitals would lose money from both private insurance and Medicaid reimbursements. They would
need to treat more consumers who lose their coverage in emergency departments. And both would put a
strain on their bottom line, officials said.
So many of the strides weve made in expanding
access to health care and in reforming our health
care system for the future are now in danger of
being walked back, said Betsy Ryan, president and
chief executive officer of the New Jersey Hospital

LITTLE EGG HARBOR - A convicted sex offenders

release from jail was considered such a threat by the
police chief that he posted an unprecedented warning
on social media, hours after the Ocean County prosecutor tried unsuccessfully to have the state Supreme
Court keep the offender behind bars.
In one of the first public controversies since bail reform was implemented in New Jersey on Jan. 1, Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels on Wednesday ordered Christopher J. Wilson released from the Ocean
County Jail and placed under house arrest with an electronic monitoring system.
That same afternoon, Police Chief Richard Buzby
posted on the township Police Departments Facebook
page about an unnamed sexual offender released into
the community that afternoon.
As your chief and fellow parent, I could not sleep
tonight if I did not say something to families about being particularly careful regarding their childrens
whereabouts and welfare at this time, Buzby said in
the Facebook statement. I beg you to do so, particularly now. Rest assured, we are working with the county
prosecutors office nonstop to rectify this matter as fast
as we humanly can.
