AZ ASCD EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Arizona ASCDs mission is to unite and influence the P-20 educational community to promote success for
each Arizona learner. As proponents of ASCDs Whole Child initiative, we provide professional learning,
leadership opportunities, and a voice for Arizonas educator practitioners.
Arizona ASCD is seeking an Executive Director to work with our dynamic board, managing the day-today operations of the affiliate. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for education at all
levels, who thrives in an active, flexible working environment. Preferably, you are a retired administrator
such assuperintendent, asst. superintendent, principal, or human resource director seeking to give back
to the profession, with demonstrated management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and established
contacts within the Arizona education community.
Essential Duties

Manage the day-to-day operations of the affiliate

Serve as ex-officio non-voting member at Board and Executive Council meetings
Assist the President in scheduling Board meetings and preparing the agenda
Maintain archive of affiliate records and communications
Oversee planning, conduct and verification of affiliate elections
Serve as the face and voice of the affiliate interacting with the public
Coordinate and oversee all affiliate programs
Align affiliate programs with ASCD programs, goals and mission
Serve as the first point of contact with ASCD on behalf of the affiliate, as well as other
professional education agencies and organizations
Lead membership outreach, recruitment and retention
Manage Oversee the affiliate budget and work with the Treasurer as she/he prepares and presents
financial reports to the board
Develop, implement, and monitor sponsorshipfundraising initiatives on behalf of the affiliate
Attend affiliate board meetings, executive council meetings, conferences, and other association
activities as determined by the board president.
Serve at the pleasure of the board
