Peopleware – Refers to any person involved in the software development and maintenance of the
hardware.

COMPUTER SPECIALISTS AND THEIR BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. DATA ENTRY PERSONNEL - key in the data from source documents.


2. COMPUTER OPERATOR – keeps computer equiptment functioning well everyday.
3. COMPUTER TECHNICIANS – deal with breakdowns in computers and related
equipments.
4. PROGRAMMER – creates,tests,and documents programs and works side-by-side with a
systems analyst.
5. SYSTEM ANALYST – tries to create a computer approach to improve the productivity and
deliver better costumer service. Although he knows how to program, its not his main concern.
6. DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR – ensures the data entered correctly, develops
procedures for the analysis of data, and ensures database security.

CATEGORIES OF COMPUTER CAREERS

1. COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEM – focus on designing computer system that will


control the organizations infornation, process its data, support its procedures, and then keep the
systems working smoothly.
2. COMPUTER SCIENCE- software oriented, the main concern is for the software to make use
of the full capability of the hardware.
3. COMPUTER ENGINEERING- hardware oriented.
4. NEW EVOLVING CAREERS
A. micro computer specialist- works with end- users, helping them purchase, and use their
computer.
B. costumers support technicians- works in the help lines whenever there are troubles
encounter ed by their clients be it in hardware or software.
C. telecommunications specialist- establishes all the capabilities of communication with in the
company.
D. webmaster- responsible for the visual layout, the written content, the links to other
locations, and often the techniques to follow up on the clients inquiry.
E. networking research specialist- (information broker)- conducts your research on the
internet and other online services and then write a report on the results.

COMPUTER VIRUS
COMPUTER VIRUS- is a program that attaches itself to a file, reprodeces, and spreads from one file
to another. It can destroy data, display irritating messages, or distrupt computer operations.

– most computer viruses attach themselve to executable files. ( EXE.COM) rather than data files,
because these are the files that your computer executes. When you run or execute an infected
file, the computer also execute the program attached to a virus to replicate or deliver its payload

PAYLOAD- ultimate goal/ mission of a virus.

PROGRAMS WHICH RESEMBLE COMPUTER VIRUSES

1. INTERNET WORM- is a program designed to enter a computer system ( NETWORK) through


security holes in the electronic mail system.it reproduces itself without being attached to a
document or an executable program.it uses data stored in the computer and mail itself to other
computers. It does not destroy data but it fills up storage space which slows down your
computer perforamance.
2. TROJAN HORSE- is disguised as a usefull program but it contains other functions to perform
something else the moment it reaches your computer. It can carry a virus to replicate in your
computer or simply erase the contents of your hard disk.
3. TIME BOMB- is a computer program that stays in your system undetected until it is triggered
by a certain event in time,
4. LOGIC BOMB- is a computer program that is triggered by the apperance or disapperance of
specific data.
5. BOOT SECTOR VIRUS- infect the system files your computer uses everytime you turn it on
and can make the data stored on the disk inaccessible.
6. MACRO VIRUS- infects documents usually created through word processor or spread sheet
programs.
7. LOGICAL VIRUS- modifies delete and replaces the host program.
