Sound Diplomacy is the leading global advisor on music cities, night time economy and market
development. We work in over 20 countries across cities, governments, property developers,
labels, festivals and large organisations.

One of the ways we do this is by producing the worlds most interesting, cutting-edge events
and heavily marketing our activities internationally. To continue to do so, grow our brand
and expand our event portfolio, were looking a events manager to lead the work across our
events and marketing initiatives, moving forward.

You will be responsible for stewarding our Music Cities Events brands, consisting of Music
Cities Convention, Sound Development and Music Tourism Convention, as well as the events
we work on across Europe, like BIME. By stewardship we mean redefining the vision, creating
new partnerships, managing our client and supplier relationships and being the backstop to
deliver the worlds most exciting events about culture and urbanism.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious marketer with strong events experience to
manage a thriving, exciting and unique portfolio of arts policy conference events, along with
working with a growing, bustling startup.

To summarise, heres what were looking for:

Responsibility for the creative and fiduciary direction of our events and marketing
portfolio.
This includes summits, conferences, roundtables, awards, thought-leadership,
production of white papers and position papers, speaking engagements and
music conferences.
A strategic planner and heavily organised worker who understands the ecosystem of
event delivery, from tendering processes to production, sponsorship and partnership to
curating and social media.
Our ideal candidate will be required to grow and expand our existing event portfolio,
while being given the opportunity to introduce new initiatives, community events and
paid series.
We are looking for someone to take control of these initiatives and make them larger,
more profitable, more refined and more impactful.
Our ideal candidate will also manage and ultimately be responsible for the delivery of
Music Cities Events marketing and thought leadership portfolio, including our website,
social media platforms, partnership relationships, mailing lists and blogs.

You will report directly to the Chief Executive.

Heres the tasks you will be required to manage:


Manage existing events and growing the event portfolio.
Coordinate event logistics, publicity, advertising, collateral material design,
production and distribution.
Manage project budgets and timelines.
Develop and maintain event contact databases.
Manage all aspects of volunteer coordination, including but not limited to, staffing,
recruitment, supervision and training.
Responsible for in-kind donation solicitations for each event.
Cultivate and expand sponsorship opportunities.
Coordinate logistics of event ticket sales.
Supervise and coordinate with event contractors.
Work with design and digital teams to develop communications plans and marketing
collateral
Develop mailing lists and coordinate email campaigns using Mailchimp
Develop professional network and attend events relevant to the organisation

Heres what we expect:

5+ years experience in a paid events, marketing or sponsorship management position


Creative and enthusiastic, with excellent planning and organisational skills
Experience of working internationally in a B2B role
Events marketing and communication experience is essential and paid conference
experience desirable
Experience in engaging sponsors and managing partnerships
Proven experience planning and executing successful B2B campaigns across marketing
platforms.
Knowledge of campaign tracking, reporting and analytical skills
Excellent team and project management required
Working independently without direct supervision in a small office environment is
required
Experience in managing budgets and financial reporting
Excellent computer skills including marketing, web design, business development and
management software programmes
Capacity to work under pressure, meet deadlines and problem solve
Excellent written English and proof-reading skills
Ability to craft press releases and engaging marketing and sponsorship copy
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Understanding of, or experience in either the creative or urban development
industries desirable
Experience of Google Apps and Microsoft Office, knowledge of Quickbooks is also
desirable
A secondary language would be beneficial

Flexibility needed, may be required to work evenings and weekends
Eligible to live and work in the UK
The position will be based in Spitalfields / Brick Lane and will require international
travel.
