Dear Families,

This is the statement letter read at tonights meeting.

We recognize how difficult and confusing this has been for the families. Tonight, we would like to give
you the information that we have, but due to the investigation we are limited on the specifics we can
and we do not want to hinder the progress.

We can say that the alleged incident is relevant to the 5-year-old classroom at Little Steps only. At this
time, we can tell you that the charges for the alleged incident are public record and are listed as child
rape 1.

As an early learning program, we have done our due diligence and followed all of the requirements set
forth by the Department of Early Learning. We have completed the required employee background
checks.

We dont know all the details of the charges, but we are taking extra steps to safeguard your children.
These steps include installing closed circuit cameras, providing additional staff members in the
classrooms and continuing to confer with professional council about this matter. Counselling resources
are available and if you would like information on counselling, please contact our interim director,
Courtney Turnley.

We hired Courtney, who is a subject matter expert in quality child care, a former child care director. She
holds a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and 25 years of experience in child care
programming. In addition, two of the founders, Lori Turnley and Kayla Toy will be joining us in an
advisory position during this time.

Regarding Barb Richards Administrative leave, we are working through the employee administrative
process and are unable to comment at this time.

The point of contact with the state is Katherine Moore, who is a CPS investigator, and she is also here to
answer your questions. She will be our contact person with any questions you may have.
