ES&H Responsibilities

1. Senior Management
Set the tone and commitment for the ES&H program and communicate
this to all levels of management.
Allocate sufficient time and resources necessary to ensure the ES&H
program is successful.
Provide all levels of management with the necessary authority to carry
out the companys ES&H program.
Establish yearly safety performance goals and track the companys
performance against the goals established.
Hold all levels of management accountable for the ES&H performance
of the company.
Review all serious accident reports and ensure corrective action is
being taken.

2. Managers/ Superintendents/ Site Engineers/ Supervisors/ Foremen


Be familiar with all company ES&H policies and programs.
Follow closely all ES&H policies and regulations.
Actively direct the companys ES&H program and require all
employees to comply with the program.
Make available and enforce the use of required safety equipment.
Conduct regular ES&H training meetings with employees and
document.
Counsel employees with ES&H related behavioral problems.
Conduct ES&H inspections for their area of responsibility.
Conduct thorough accident investigations on all accidents that require
an investigation.
Correct unsafe conditions and or equipment as soon as possible.
Work closely with other managers/superintendents/ site engineers/
supervisors/ foremen and the ES&H Department as necessary.

3. ES&H Manager/ Safety Officers/ Project Nurse


Provide the necessary leadership in directing the companys ES&H
program.
Work closely with senior management and assist in establishing yearly
ES&H performance goals.
Stay up to date on all local and international ES&H regulations.
Lead by example and follow all company ES&H policies.
Review the companys ES&H program regularly and update as
necessary.
Communicate the effectiveness of the ES&H program to all levels of
management.
Work closely with managers/ superintendents/ site engineers/
supervisors/ foremen on ES&H related elements.
Assist in conducting new employee ES&H orientation and ongoing
training classes.
Conduct regular ES&H inspections and recommend needed corrective
action.
Conduct accident investigations along with managers/superintendents/
site engineers/ supervisors/ foremen on all serious accident and report
the results to senior management.
Provide counseling to all employees as necessary.

4. Employees
Take reasonable care for own health and safety.
Take reasonable care for the health and safety of others who may
affected by their acts or omissions
Cooperate with anything the managers/ ES&H department does to
comply with ES&H requirements
Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse
anything provided at the workplace for ES&H.
