PRACTICAL INSTRUCTOR NOTES

The Practical Instructor is responsible for ensuring that:

A. The Trainee has completed all elements of part 1.

B. Part 2 is to be completed by the Trainee and certified by the Practical Instructor.

Practical Instructor has to ensure that each task has been performed/observed by the
Trainee and that Trainee fully understands the task completed. The
outcomes/observations of each task should be completed by the trainee prior to the
Practical Instructor certification of that task.

C. The nominated Practical Instructor is responsible for ensuring the details of all the tasks
completed within this booklet are true and correct.

D. All aspect of the subject task should be covered and be relevant to that subject. This
must include:-

Safety work wear and safety equipment particular to the task.

Manuals and relevant documentation wherever applicable.
Procedures
Tools and test equipment, including special to task items such as cradles, hoists,
jacks, special hand tools.
Any testing procedures that may be required on completion.

E. All safety procedures are adhered to at all times. All Trainees are to be made aware of
any company safety regulations that may be in place locally. All trainees must be
provided with their own PPE and have access to and utilize all relevant safety
equipment as necessary.

F. Q+A sessions and group discussions are encouraged throughout, to reinforce the
training.

ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES FOR THE TRAINEE

A. Assessments will be made on all of the tasks individually. The assessment of each task
will be based on the key parameters tabulated against each task.

B. For a trainee to be declared as pass in a specific task assessment, the trainees

performance must be considered as satisfactory by the assessor in all of the parameters
defined for that particular task.

C. Key assessment parameters for this module are given under in tabulated form in para G.

D. A trainee must pass in at least 75% of the total number of defined tasks for each section
& area to be declared as pass for any module.

Example: For instance a certain module has hundred (100) Practical Training Tasks in
total, including forty (40) tasks for Workshop/Lab/Un-airworthy Aircraft section (WSP
Tasks) and sixty (60) tasks for Actual Maintenance Environment section (OJT Tasks).
The sixty (60) OJT Tasks are further sub-divided into twenty five (25) tasks each for Line
Maintenance (LM), and Base Maintenance (BM) areas, remaining ten (10) OJT Tasks
are accounted for, in Overhaul Shop (O/H Shop) area tasks.

A trainee will be considered as pass in the sample module Practical Training Tasks if the
trainee successfully passes at least thirty (30) tasks from WSP section, nineteen (19)
tasks form LM and BM areas, and eight (08) tasks from O/H Shop area.

E. Any trainee failing in more than 25% of the total assessed tasks in any section & area,
will be deemed to have been unsuccessful and will not receive certification for the
module.

F. In case if a trainee fails in any section or area the trainee will be given one chance for
reassessment after a period of one month. However if a trainee fails in re-assessment
he/she will have to undergo Practical Training for the respective section or area tasks.

G. Assessment Parameters for Module 11A are listed as under:

Aerodynamic features
Aerodynamic balancing
Lift and drag characteristic
General understanding
Identification
Location
Use of Relevant Manuals
Use of Relevant Tools
Safety Precautions Observed
Observation related to maintenance practices/cleaning
