ThismanualdescribestheOKIpluginforC941/C931colorLEDprinters.Theseareahighspeed,
highquality,colorandmonochrome,A3,A4,A5andA6printerscapableofprintingontoheavy
materials.
2 System requirements
TooperatecorrectlytheOKIC941/C931pluginsrequirethefollowingsystemresources:
HarlequinMultiRIPv10orlater.
Connectioninterface:
EthernetsupportingTCP/IP.
Note: OKIC941/C931printerssupportconnectionsusingEthernet(100BT).Howevertheplugins
willnotdrivetheprinterdirectly.ThepluginwritestotheWindowsprintspoolersubsystem,which
inturncommunicateswiththeprinter.ThepluginsupportsbothFileandWindowsSpooleroutput.

7. CopyandpasteorcarefullyentertheProductKeyfortheProtectionKeyUpdateintotheProduct
Keyfield.

differenthalftonescreen.
Color:Thissettingisautomaticallychosentosuittheselectedprofile.However,ifyouwish
touseyourowncolorprofile,chooseitinsteadfromthelist.See,Creatingcolorsetupson
page21foradescriptionofhowtocreateyourowncolorsetups.
Calibration:Setthisto(None).Calibrationisperformedbytheprinterfortheselectedmedia.
4. ClickConfigure device...toopentheConfigureDevicedialog,whichallowsyoutospecifyoutput
optionsfortheselecteddevice.Forexample,itallowsyoutospecifytheoutputmethod(file,net
work,includingaprintserver),mediatype,duplexingandfinishingoptions.Formoreinforma

orthejobdoesnotcontainpagesizeinformation(mostjobsdo),setthepagesizetoo.
Ifitisnecessarytodoso,youcanadjustthepositioningoftheoutputonthemediabyedit
ingthepagemarginvalues.See,Pagelayoutoptionsonpage8fordetails.
6. ClickSave Asandchooseanappropriatenameforyournewpagesetup.
7. ClickOKtoclosethePageSetupManager.
Thepagesetuphasnowbeencreatedandmaybeusedtoprocessjobs.Remembertocreatepageset

languagefile.ThepagesizeinPageLayouthasnoeffectonthistypeofjob.InEPSfiles,orotherjobs
wherepagesizeisnotdefined,youmustselectthecorrectpagesizefromthoselistedinPageLayout.
Whenchangingthemarginsbecarefulnottoincreasethemarginsbeyondthelimitofthemedia.Set
tingavalueforthebottommarginbeyondthemediasizeonsheetfeddeviceswillresultinalossof
printablespaceonthemedia.

method,connecttheprintertoyourcomputerviaTCP/IPandaddtheC931orC941printerusingthe
standardWindowsAddaprinterwizard.WhenaddingtheprintermakesurethatOKIC931or
OKIC941isincludedaspartoftheprintersname.
Selecttheoutputmethodfromthefollowingchoices:
File (Defaultoption).OutputissavedtothelocationspecifiedintheFile
outputoption,andnamedaccordingtothesettingsinFile template.
Outputtofileisalwaysdoneasawholejob,notasindividualpages.
Therefore,ifanerroroccursorthejobisaborted,anyunprocessed
pagesinthejobarediscarded,whetherornottheycanberendered.
SPL TheSPLoptionistheprimarymethodforoutputtingtotheprinter.Itis
availableonlyafterinstallingthedevicedriverviatheWindowsAdda
printerwizard.
OutputtoWindowsSpoolerisalwaysdoneasawholejob,notasindi
vidualpages.Therefore,ifanerroroccursorthejobisaborted,any
pagesremaininginthejobarediscarded,whetherornottheycanbe
rendered.Wherepossible,theWindowsSpoolerjobsubmissionwill
alsobeaborted.
File template
Thisoptionallowsyoutousetagstoconstructthenameoftheoutputfile.Forexample,
<dos>out<5unique><dot>hpfproducesout00001.hpf,out00002.hpf.Formoreinformationsee
Outputfilenamingonpage13andTable 4,page16foracompletelistofpermittedtags.

TheMediaoptionsallowyoutochoosetheMediasize,tray,typeandweight.

Thisoptionallowsyoutospecifythesizeofyourpage.Therearefouroptions.

ThisoptionallowsyoutochooseaspecifictrayortouseAuto selectwhichautomaticallyselects
thepapersourcethatcontainsthepapersizespecifiedintheDeviceConfigurationdialogbox.If
thespecifiedpapersizeisunavailableanappropriatealternativeischosenautomatically.
Media type
TheMediatypeoptionliststheavailablemediatypes:Bond,Cardstock,Glossyandsoon.When
Printer Setting isselectedthevaluessetintheprinterareused.
Media weight
SelecttheweightofthemediasetinMediatype:Heavy,Light,Mediumandsoon.WhenPrinter
Setting isselectedthevaluessetintheprinterareused.
Iftheprinterdetectsamediaweightwhichisdifferentfromthatselectedamessageisdisplayed.
Spot color
TheOKIC941hastheoptionforthespotcolortobeWhiteorClear,suchasaclearvarnish.
EnsurethattheSpot colorWhiteorClearselectioncorrespondstothetonerthatisloadedonthe
printer.
Useage methods
Select either Do not use or Use spot color in job.WhenUse spot color in job isselectedthe
jobmustspecifyaspotcolorinadditiontothenormalCMYKcolors.
IfUse spot color in jobisselectedandthereisnospotcolordefinedinthejob,thecommands
tousethetonerwillnotbesenttotheprinter.

Order of superposition
YoucanchoosetopositionthespotcolorontopoftheCMYKcolor(Printing toner on the
color),orbeneaththeCMYKcolor(Printing toner under the color).
5.1.5 Output

ThisoptionisonlyavailablefortheOKIC931.
WhenthisischeckedandtheMediasizeissetto:Media size from Page LayoutorShrink to
Media size from Page Layout,theimageautorotatessothatitfitsonthepaperselectedinthe
PageLayout.TheFeededgesettingisignoredinthisinstance.
AutorotatewillnotworkforMediasize:Page size specified in jobandMedia size & Feed
edge from Page Layout.
Feed edge
Theoptionsare:Auto,Long EdgeandShort Edge.
FormediathatcanbefedintotheprinterbothLongEdgeFirst(LEF)andShortEdgeFirst(SEF)
(A4,LetterandB5),choosingLong Edge/Short Edgewillrotatetheimagetofitonthechosen
Media,whenMediasizeisMedia size from Page LayoutorShrink to Media size from Page
Layout.Therefore,whenthefeedtrayisloadedwithA4(LEF),andA4MediaissetinthePage
Layout,Longedgeisselected,andyouareprintinganA4portrait,theimageisrotatedtofiton
theA4LEF.
Formediathatcanonlybefedintotheprinteroneway,choosingLong EdgeorShort Edge,will

5.1.5.6 Constraints
Theprinterimposesconstraintsonthepapertype,weightandsizethatcanbeusedwiththefinisher,
duplex,traysandstackers.Theseoptionsallowyoutospecifywhattodowithajobwhentheoptions
selectedconflictwiththeabilitiesoftheprinter.
Theoptionsare:Warn and ContinueorAbort.
WhenWarn and Continueisselected,thepluginautomaticallycorrectstheconflictingoptionswitha
biasontheMediatype/weight/sizebeforeoutputtingthejob.Anyconflictsandcorrectionsappearas
warningsintheRIPsmonitorwindow.
WhenAbortisselected,thepluginabortsthejobwithError 25: Combination of input/output
selections is not supported by the printer.TheconflictingsettingsaredisplayedintheRIPs
monitorwindow.

Ifafilenamecontainsillegalcharacters,e.g.colon,whitespace,asteriskthesecharacterswillbe
excludedfromthefilenamederivedfromtheTags.

WhenrestartingtheRIP,theuniquenumberingwillattemptto
restartatitsinitialvalue,forexample0000.However,ifafile
