INTRODUCTION
The flexible version of COX-848A/1596A can be programmed as per the features required. For this purpose
user should first understand the features from the `Operating Manual'and then program the System as
explained in the Programming manual, under the heading "Programming Procedure".
Some features are controlled by "Features Control Switches". If a feature is not mentioned in this table then
that feature will not be available in "Programming Procedure". As such "Programming Procedure" as well as
"Features Control Switches" should be referred for allotting features.
FLEXIBLE NUMBERING
For allotting flexible extension numbers or changing features code, refer "Programming Tables" and
"Software Codes". Any feature code can be changed with the help of Software Codes in the Programming
table.
It is recommended to wash out the complete memory of the ASMDR before starting the system for the first
time or whenever the card is changed/reinstalled, as explained below:
Keep Pin No. 3 of SW2 (8-Pin DIP Switch) in ON position of ASMDR card.
Press switch (SW1) of ASMDR card. The printer will print HARD RESET
After sometime printer will print Memory check OK. If Memory Check OK message is not received,
contact the company before proceeding further.
Switch OFF Pin no. 3 of SW2 (8-Pin DIP Switch) of ASMDR card.
c) Before feeding various codes, open the programming Switch- Set F1 5444 ENT
f) Set the Start and End time for full rate as below:
i) To enter pulse rate for telephone numbers starting with 95 use the following:
Set F1 76 XX ZZ YYYY ENT
Where XX = Location (01 to 50, maximum 50 codes can be entered)
ZZ = Half of the actual Pulse Rate (i.e. 60 for 120 seconds pulse)
YYYY = Code (For eg. YYYY = 1234 for telephone numbers 951234------)
j) To take printout of the ASMDR rates structure follow the given procedure:
Switch OFF the EPABX System and connect a Parallel Port printer.
Put the DIP Switch number 1 of SW2 (on ASMDR) in `ON position.
Switch ON the system , it will print all ASMDR structure details.
After the printout, ensure to switch OFF DIP Switch no. 1
DIP SWITCHES
PRECAUTIONS:
1. Never leave SW3, SW5 in `ON'position.
2. Never put SW6 in `ON'position since this will wash the complete data of the ASMDR Card.
PROGRAMMING:
Open the programming switch. (Set F1-9995268401-Ent)
(Set F1 5200000001) Warning tone will appear.
(Set F1 5200000000) Warning tone will not appear.
Set F1 5536 XXXX TT
where XXXX = Extension number
TT =Time in Minute (00 to 99 minute)
NOTE: It is important to close the ASMDR programming switch and the programming switch. Else the system
will keep working erratically.
CLI - INTERNAL
In this feature the extension number of calling extension is displayed on the CLI unit (if connected in parallel)
of called party. The CLI number will also be displayed in case of flexible number.
The number will not be displayed if the calling party is console.
PROGRAMMING:
PROCEDURE
Set Junction line in DISA mode.
After starting of message, dial 0 + DOSA Pass word + X + External telephone number
where, X = 1 to 9, for accessing a defined junction line
X = 0, whichever Junction line is free, will be allotted.
Now dial the external number
After 45 seconds you will get beep as a warning tone.
To increase time for more than 45 seconds press #, else your call will get disconnected. The
procedure for increasing the call time can be repeated any number of times.
To disconnect call, press (Star).
CONDITIONS
1. Any number of Junction lines can be provided in DISA/Open DOSA facility.
2.There are two channels for DISA/Open DOSA i.e., simultaneously two DISA/Open DOSA can be
processed but second DISA will work after the end of message of first DISA.
3. In DOSA, caller party will get external Junction lines in rotation.
INSTALLATION
1. The 1596 DISA Card works with a modified CPUA Card only. It is installed in place of TONE CARD in
the system.
2. The Bus Bar of the EPABX COX- 848A/1596A has to be modified for this purpose or else a wire has to
be connected between CPUA and 1596 DISA Card.
Operation- Whenever Door Phone is activated, the extensions, which are programmed for Door phone ring
start ringing. (Ringing is assigned just like a Junction line programming). Whichever ringing extension picks
up first, gets connected to Door Phone. Any extension can dial 1XX (where, XX = the Door Phone port) or 6
(code for secondary Junction) to talk to the Door Phone without a call being activated from Door Phone.
G2- Reception, House Keeping, etc. This group can call everyone and everyone can call this group.
G3- Extensions in this group can talk to each other but cannot talk to G4 group.
G4- Extensions in this group cannot talk to each other and not even to G3.
G1 G2
G4
G3
Program as below:
For normal operation and cancellation of the above groups, program as below:
NOTE: In this version some of the normal features get masked and cannot be used.
PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
During the `Check Out' period of extension, the Room Status Display will give flashing indication
distinguishing the extension/room with `House Keeping'for cleaning.
In `Check out'mode, extension can make internal calls and on dialling a number (Software Code at which
066 is programmed in Tables) from that extension the internal dialling is also withdrawn i.e. on lifting handset
it will ring on console. After dialling this number, the Room Status Display will register the extension as ready
for use. This facility is provided for Housekeeping so that they need not inform the Reception. They can dial
a number whenever the room is ready.
While programming, the cursor moves to the first digit if [DSP], [SET] or [F1] Key is pressed in between.
Where, CCCC is new code, which you want to make after pressing Ent you will see on display that your code
CCCC is modified to +5 and -5 as per the value of C.
ON ON O CLASS OF SERVICE
OFF ON 3 CLASS OF SERVICE
ON OFF 6 CLASS OF SERVICE
OFF OFF 9 CLASS OF SERVICE
The CPU reads these locations only when resetting is done by pressing reset Switch No.1 four times, while
the Switch No.2 is kept pressed. These reset switches are mounted in front of EPABX just above the cards
and accessible only after removing the panel.
DIP SWITCHES-DISPLAY
R stands for direct receiving of Incoming Junction call on lifting the handset and without dialling 8.

TABLE 00
Table 00 refers to the first digit being dialled by any extension. For example, if an extension dials 8 then it
gets connected to an `Incoming Junction Call because the value at location 08 of table 00 is - 001, which is
the Software Code (Refer Software Codes) for the said feature. Similarly if the first digit dialled is 2 then the
CPU of the EPABX will jump to table 03 for scanning the second digit dialled.
NOTE: Values from 003 to 049 stand for table numbers 03 to 49.
: On pressing Key, the scanning shifts to table 14 and by pressing # memory dialling feature
is availed.
If the first digit dialled on Junction line is 0 then the scanning will jump to table 48, which also refers `Class of
Service'similar to table 01 explained above.
On dialling `1 as the first digit on Junction line, the scanning will jump to table 47 which also refers to
restriction on Junction dialling by referring to `Class of Service'and comparing with values entered in this
table with the preset value shown in tables. An extension with Class of Service = 2 can dial all telephone
numbers except for the telephone number starting with 6.
After dialling `1, if the second digit is 0 then table 46 is referred to control dialling with comparison to class of
service.
TABLE 02 & 49
Table 02 refers to number of digit that are allowed to be dialled on Junction line.
As per the values shown in table, EPABX will allow only 3 digits dialling for telephone numbers starting with 1
and 7 digits if the telephone number start with 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or 9.
On dialling 0 as the first digit, table 49 will be referred which also controls number of digits similar to table 02
explained above. Values in table 49 can be increased upto 023 for allowing upto 23 digit dialling. Value
above 23 will mean to refer another table. If values are 0, 50 or above, then the referred figure will be
restricted.
TABLE 03 TO 13
On dialling 2 as the first digit, the scanning shifts to table 03. From table 03 it shifts to other tables as per the
values entered and shown in tables. Table Numbers 3 to 13 are used for Extension numbering. By changing
these tables flexible numbering can be done.
FLEXIBLE NUMBERING
Table 04 to 13 has values corresponding to extension numbers from 100 to 195. For example - On dialling
202, extension 102 rings. So 102 corresponds to 202. Similarly other numbers correspond to 200 to 295.
The extension numbers can be changed to any desired number and number of digits by changing the values
in these table location by programming to achieve the desired flexible extension numbers.
TABLE 16 TO 45
Tables 16 to 45 are free and can be used for flexible numbering or any other use. Before using any of these
Tables, Table 16 should be used first to delete the values 255. After the last table, enter 255 at all location of
the table next to last table.
TABLE 14 & 15
Table 14 is referred on dialling as the first digit and on dialling again table 15 is being referred because in
Table 14 the value of is 015.
Table 15 refers to various features. The corresponding feature of each code entered in this table can be
located in Software codes table.
PROCEDURE
d) Open the software switch
SET-F1-999 5268401-Ent
This programming is to be carried out for all 8 extensions in sequence where first 4 extensions specify day
mode ringing extensions and next 4 extensions specify night mode ringing extensions. If less than 8
extensions are to be used in Round Robin then repeat the extension in sequence of repetitions required. All
8 locations must be filled.
For eg: if Junction Line 01 is to be programmed for extension 201 & 202 in day mode and for extension 201,
202, 203, 204 in night mode then-
For example
001 is the `Software Code'for receiving incoming junction calls. This code is pre-programmed in Table 00 at
digit 8. So, on dialling 8 from any extension, one can pick incoming Junction call. If the same code (001) is
programmed in Table 00 at digit 5 then the incoming Junction calls can be picked by dialling 5.
