NAMIB MILLS PTY (LTD)

Namib Mills is the leading miller in Namibia. It started as a small milling


company in 1982. Namib Mills has grown to become a world class food
manufacturer. The company purchases 15% and 50% of wheat and white 5
maize respectively from local producers in Namibia. It also imports white
maize from South Africa and wheat from overseas.

Namib Mills is committed to the growth of the countrys economy. The company
employ more than 750 staff members, this number includes salary, wage and 10
temporary staff. The main production facility is located in the capital, Windhoek,
and consists of a wheat mill, a maize mill, a pasta plant, a baking complete mixer
plant, a mahangu plant and sugar packing plant. The maize mill in Katima Mulilo
supplies the Caprivi region while in Otavi the company operate a maize mill,
mahangu plant and sugar packing plant. 15

Namib Mills utilises modern production technology in its network of 10 depots.


The business takes pride in manufacturing products of high international
standard. Namib Mills ensures that the companys products are available
at wholesalers and retailers nationwide. Further to this, Namib Mills also 20
invest into the social wellbeing of Namibians through many programmes to
fight hunger and supporting various welfare organisations. As a corporate
citizen the company values its employees, customers, suppliers and all other
stakeholders.

Namib Mills has been struggling to establish itself in the profitable Angolan
market due to unfavourable economic conditions in Angola. However, the
managing director of Namib Mils, Koos Ferreira, said the Angolan market still
remains their target market as it offers immense possibilities.
