RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Pear Deck is an interactive presentation tool used to actively engage students in individual and social
learning. Teachers create presentations using their Google Drive account. Students log into the
presentation with an access code and interact with questions while the teacher monitor students and
the whole-class progress. It is a freemium service; teachers and schools can access a wide range of tools
and resources for free or gain more access to tools if paying for a premium account.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PRESENTATION

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote students
presentation/speaking/communication skills?
This is a great source for children who are visual learners, and those who need to be able to see both
sets of notes at a time. The students can see what their teacher is creating, and also see their own
screen at the same time. Allows students to be more interactive with tests and activities, versus just
watching a presentation, they can actually participate.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration
you described, using the selected resource?
Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I am giving this website a 2. I read some of the reviews from other teachers, and it seems it has some
very basic flaws. One teacher said that students who have only created a google account can have
access to this website. Some parents may not want their children to have email accounts at a young
age. Because it uses google as well, it will not be as secure for students and teachers, and makes their
information more accessible by people who shouldnt have it.
