All human in this world is typically divided into two genders. The perspectives

towards each genders are dierent as well. Thus, it caused a conflict between them.

Women are the side that being under men in every situation so this is, of course, a

major womens problem. The gender discrimination did not only devalue women but

also lead to another main sub-problems of this world, which is inequality. Women,

which play a role as a victim, have to face many diculties in their daily lives

because gender is participating in every situation, and this inequality aect directly

to womens rights. Women are treated unequally by many reasons. The actual cause

of discrimination came from thoughts, and those thoughts caused by the ideas that

people shared in society towards each sex, which created a stereotype towards

women (Ramzan, 2013). The UN concerned and give precedence to this conflict

since there are women all around the world, and women in various areas are facing

this same conditions. According to the UN Millennium Development goals, gender

issue was placed at the third problem of all eight. This goal 3 is promote gender

equality and empower women. The UN has been dealing and started since the year

2000 and hope to achieve in 2015 but this conflict is still not completely

accomplished (Unmillenniumproject,n.d.). The reason was because the time of

agenda was not enough but the seven strategies that they created are working

because it covered all the major actions in our present society. The progress is

eective and easily noticed; for example, the average proportion of women in

parliament has nearly doubled over the past 20 years (UN, n.d.).

In present time, Pakistan is facing gender discrimination, and willing to

ensure the equality as much as possible. The gap between sex creates problems for

women. For instance, the inequality in the field of education. The primary school

ratio of boys & girls is10:4 (She, 2012), which the girls are obviously less than the

boys. Moreover, according to UNICEF, Youth (15-24 years) literacy rate from 2008 to

2012 maleis 79.1% and female is 61.5%. So, men usually underestimate women

abilities and skills. The percentage of both sexes were more than a half, which is a

good point but female still has less ability and opportunities. On the other hand,

Pakistan overall illiteracy rate is decreasing becausethe Pakistan Economic Survey

2014-15 stated that the literacy rate has gone down by 2% in 2013-14 as compared

to the previous year when it was 60%, which it is now 58% (Haq, 2015).

The Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan says, The state of Pakistan

shall remove illiteracy and provide free and compulsory secondary education within

minimum possible period. Although this policy is about education, it is directly

aect the gender discrimination as well. I agree with this policy because we should

eliminate the gender discrimination since they were kids by starting focus on

education. The cause might came from the attendance to school of girls, which let

to the illiteracy. As stated that net attendance percentage of primary school

2008-2012 of female was 62.3 and male was 70 (UNICEF, 2013). This condition

happened in all over the country, and it caused a bad stereotype towards the girls.

Education is also a key factor that can help encourage and empower women by

using the teaching techniques. Teachers should teach them both knowledge and

also moral. They should empower women by support them in dierent ways. For

example, teachers should give equal opportunities for both genders to participate in

leadership.
