EMERGENCE OF NFC TECHNOLOGY AND ITS EFFECT ON THE RISE OF KIOSKS AND OTHER
RELATED INDUSTRIES IN INDIA: AN OVERVIEW
What is NFC?
Near-field communication (NFC) is a wireless connectivity technology that enables short-range communication between
electronic devices. Jointly developed by Philips and Sony, NFC connects consumer devices and enables rapid and easy
communication. It is a communications solution aimed at controlling data in an increasingly complex and connected
world. Its intuitive operation makes it easy for consumers to use, while its security features makes it suitable for payment
and ticketing applications. NFC comes in the form of an integrated chip in the mobile handsets operating at a frequency
of 13.56 MHz over 10-15 cm range; thus enabling the data transfer. Most recently Mobile Brand Nokia has launched a
handset C7 with integrated NFC chip in the Indian market.
What is a KIOSK?
A KIOSK is an interactive computer terminal featuring specialized hardware and software designed within a public exhibit
that provides access to information and applications for the communication, commerce, entertainment and education.
The most common examples of KIOSKs around us are the ATM machines, Railway Smart Card ticket issuing system etc.
How the emergence of NFC will affect the rise of KIOSKs in India?
Since years, the Indian public has been relying on the cash mode of payments in any requirements. Cashless mode of
Payments such use of credit cards, debit cards, net banking have come up off-late. However according to statistics
provided by RBI, utilization of any cashless mode is only 11.1% per annum. One of the major reasons has been due to the
ignorance and unawareness about the reliable use of technology. Due to a boom in the mobile handset market, masses
of the Indian public has become tech-slavy. Also due to many social networking platforms and internet enabled services
people have gained good technological knowledge. Banking on this factor, NFC enabled money solutions is the future.
Basically, the NFC chip in a person's mobile will be synchronized directly to a person's bank account through which he
wishes to pay. This totally eliminates the need of any credit money, prepaid voucher, internet settings etc. Thus, due to
this we have brought all the mobile users to common ground. As a result for money transactions, people will not have to
carry any credit cards etc and will just be carrying their mobile handsets i.e. is prevalent today on a large scale. Thus, this
has simplified the way of money transfer.
Since, nearly everyone is likely to be using NFC enables mobile handsets in near future, because many big players such as
Motorola, Apple, Sony have already started launching NFC enabled handsets at a brisk pace. Thus, people of all ages will
be able to buy any products, items or services directly from a KIOSK at a much cheaper price. This will create a good
bonding between the customer and the company. The services are likely to grow in every field since NFC has a big scope.
The bigger companies can easily use this as a reliable solution to reach to the villages and fill the gap in the logistics and
supply in the country. This will enable them to gain subsidiaries from the Government, thus again leading to cost cutting
and good solutions to villages in good aspects.

Green computing can encompass a wide range of strategies, from laptop disposal to
power strip usage to equipment manufacturing.
In general, the umbrella term seeks to describe any tactic related to IT that serves to benefit the environment or at least
have a minimal impact on it. Even reduced printer paper usage can be dubbed as green computing. Large server farms
and huge data centers can implement green computing plans in a meaningful way, but what about small businesses with
only a handful of employees? It turns out that even some minor green-focused shifts can make a difference, too. Best of
all, green computing tactics tend to boost efficiency in an office, which means lower utility bills and reduced expenses.
Here are some tips for going green:
Implement server virtualization: This popular IT tactic involves using one server and dividing it into multiple
environments, rather than using multiple servers that are dedicated to one application or one department each. Several
servers run on one machine instead. The strategy has been shown to improve server utilization, improve hardware
costs and boost business continuity. Because it eliminates the need for more server purchases, virtualization is
considered as a big step in the green computing direction.
This has the greatest potential impact for businesses that have multiple servers and are running out of space, power and
cooling to keep them running, says Dave Walstad, vice president of sales and marketing at Minneapolis-based Virteva,
an IT business. Many times you can have a 10-to-1 reduction in servers.
Create strong power management: Even small organizations can squander energy by leaving machines on during
evenings and weekends. Although the machines might be in sleep mode, some still draw power and those with
graphics-heavy screensavers can take even more power than when they're in use.
Fortunately, there are numerous software packages available that offer power management. These apps shut down the
PCs at night and wake them up in the morning. Even better, the software can track power disruption and issue alerts if
there's a problematic power spike affecting an office's equipment.
Use cloud computing: The cloud allows companies to move their essential business applications to a Web-based
environment, which boosts access and can increase data storage capacity.
The cloud is not some magical place where all technology works in harmony, says James Matheson, president of
Network Medics, a Minneapolis-based IT support company.
It's simply a way to operate business functions like backup, email and line-of-business applications over the Internet as
a service. This eliminates onsite equipment and transitions the load to highly efficient data centers.
Employ a BYO strategy: Walstad points out that most current and prospective employees have their own laptops.
Implement systems that allow them to use these machines at work, securely, he says. Do we really need a home PC
and a work PC? Those in the green movement say no.
The ability for employees to use their own computers reduces the capital expenditures for a business. Walstad also think
the strategy improves employees' satisfaction because they can use the type of equipment they like.
This tactic does have challenges, though. Security, interoperability, repair and application access might all crop up as
issues. But if a company is highly virtual accessing apps through the Web, using cloud computing, collaborating via
Google Docs, etc. employing so-called BYO technology can be highly beneficial and green.
Nearly any strategy that saves power, reduces cooling and heating costs and eliminates the need for more purchasing can
be dubbed as green computing, in many cases. Not only are these tactics good for the environment, but they tend to
save companies a nice bit of green as well.

A PENCIL PRINTER
So you don't want to join pencil stubs and make a long pencil. No worries, we have another alternative, how about using
them to print on paper. Yes, like a printer that uses pencil to print your documents. Traditional don't you think? I feel the
concept gets even more radical because it proposes the use of eraser to erase off mistakes! Do I hear my office scream in
delight; no more cartridge woes!
When you write with a pencil instead of a pen, you can always erase what you've written and use the paper again.
However, how many of us would go to the trouble of erasing? I know I don't bother to, so I use pens to write, most of the
time.
Well, what if someone were to invent a machine that will do the erasing for you? Here's how this concept Pencil Printer by
Hovoung Lee looks like.
It's a printer that prints using lead, and it is able to erase what's been printed This printer changes laser printer of ink
powder to pencil powder. So, it can write and erase. Then it can recycle to use paper. And stubby pencil till up to grind
cartridge.
This printer grinds stubby pencil lead and mechanical pencil lead inside cylinder. And the stubby pencil lead burn by
electricity. So, wood and lead can separate.

A virus is a computer code that has been designed to spread and replicate itself by passing from computer to
computer. It is a piece of software that piggybacks on legitimate programs like Excel, Word, WordPerfect, Outlook, etc
When the program is run, the virus is triggered to run too. Viruses can be destructive in nature, and can cause a wide
range of problems ranging from operating system and file corruption to getting blamed for email spamming. Some
viruses are just annoying, but cause no damage.
Viruses usually find their way into computers through networks (local networks as well as the internet) by taking
advantage of unlatched security vulnerabilities (holes) in software or by receiving an infected file via email, download or
shared disk. Depending on the type of virus, it may be embedded in an Excel or Word file, or may be designed to infect
upon the opening of an email. Once infected, a computer can literally infect thousands of other computers by quietly
spreading the virus without the virus without the user even knowing about it.
Computer viruses are highly prevalent in our word today, and unless your computer is running as a stand-alone machine
with no connection to the internet and you never transfer files to it from floppy, USB or CDROM, it is essential to use some
form of antivirus software. Antivirus software is designed to identify and destroy (or isolate) all viruses as they are
introduced to your computer. Because new viruses are introduced every day, even the best antivirus software might not
work if it is not updated regularly. For an anti virus solution to work properly, its database must be updated regularly with
the newest virus definition files.
Virus definition files tell the antivirus software what code characteristics to loop for while monitoring your computer.
When a certain file type or activity occurs that matches a characteristic, the antivirus software blocks the execution of
code and alerts you that a virus has been found. The virus is then isolated and destroyed.
Hundreds of new computer viruses are introduced onto the internet each week, and as antivirus software developers
find these new viruses, they create updates of the virus definitions in order to provide the antivirus software with a way
to identify and destroy even the newest of viruses. It is extremely important to update your antivirus software every day
in order to make sure you have the most current virus definition available. Fortunately, most modern antivirus software
comes with an automatic update feature that makes this task a onetime set it and forget it kind of thing.
Anti virus software requires an annual subscription, which keeps the automatic update feature working, and also makes
sure you have the most recent release of the product. Many people make the mistake of purchasing antivirus software,
which normally includes 12 months of updates, and then forget to renew their subscription the next year. When the
antivirus update subscription runs out, automatic updates stop leaving your PC vulnerable to all new viruses. If you're
running antivirus software, be sure to check it regularly to make sure it's updating daily. If not, chances are your
subscription ran out and you missed the email notification.

Solar Energy
Solar energy is the most readily available and free source of energy since prehistoric times. It is estimated that solar
energy equivalent to over 15,000 times the world's annual commercial energy consumption reaches the earth every
year. India receives solar energy in the range of 5 to 7 kWh/m2 for 300 to 330 days in a year. This energy is sufficient to set
up 20 MW solar power plants per square kilometer land area. Solar energy can be utilized through two different routes,
as solar thermal route and solar electric (solar photovoltaic) routes. Solar thermal route uses the sun's heat to produce
hot water or air, cook food, drying materials etc. Solar photovoltaic uses sun's heat to produce electricity for lighting
home and building, running motors, pumps, electric appliances, and lighting.
In solar thermal route, solar energy can be converted into thermal energy with the help of solar collectors and receivers
known as solar thermal devices. The Solar-Thermal devices can be classified into three categories:
1. Low-Grade Heating Devices - up to the temperature of 100C.
2. Medium-Grade Heating Devices -up to the temperature of 100-300C
3. High-Grade Heating Devices -above temperature of 300C Low-grade solar thermal devices are used in solar
water heaters, air-heaters, solar cookers and solar dryers for domestic and industrial applications.
Solar Cooker
Solar cooker is a device, which uses solar energy for cooking, and thus saving fossil fuels, fuel wood and electrical energy
to a large extent. However, it can only supplement the cooking fuel, and not replace it totally. Solar-cooker is sufficient for
4 to 5 members and saves about 3 to 4 cylinders of LPG every year. The life of this cooker is up to 15 years. This cooker
costs around Rs.1000 after allowing for subsidy. Solar cookers are widely available in the market.

Super Cables: -
These cables use copper oxide-based superconducting tape cooled by liquid nitrogen at 77 Kelvin's. Using liquid
hydrogen for coolant would drop the temperature to 20 Kelvin's, into the superconducting range of new compounds
such as magnesium diboride
All demonstrations of super conducting cables so far have used AC power, even though only DC electricity can travel
without resistance. The Super Cable we have designed includes a pair of DC superconducting wires, one at plus 50,000
volts, the other at minus 50,000 volts, and both carrying 50,000 ampsa current far higher than any conventional wire
could sustain. Such a cable could transmit about five gigawatts for several hundred kilometres at nearly zero resistance
and line loss. (Today about a tenth of all electrical energy produced by power plants is lost during transmission.) Because
a Super Cable would use hydrogen as its cryogenic coolant, it would transport energy in chemical as well as electrical
form. Next-generation nuclear plants can produce either electricity or hydrogen with almost equal thermal efficiency. So
the operators of nuclear clusters could continually adjust the proportions of electricity and hydricity that they pump
into the Super Grid to keep up with the electricity demand while maintaining a flow of hydrogen sufficient to keep the
wires superconducting.
EVOLUTION OF A SUPERGRID: -
Super Cables would carry many times the power of existing transmission lines, which helps the economic case for burial.
But the potential for further technology innovation and the limits imposed by the economics of underground
construction need more exploration. To jump-start the Super Grid, and to clarify the costs, participants in the 2004
SuperGrid workshop proposed constructing a one-kilometer-long Super-Cable to carry several hundred megawatts. This
first segment would simply test the superconducting components, using liquid nitrogen to cool them.
Beyond that, price may largely determine whether any country will muster the political and social will to construct a
Super Grid. The investment will undoubtedly be enormous: perhaps $1 trillion in today's dollars and in any case beyond
the timescale attractive to private investment. It is difficult to estimate the cost of a multidecade, multigenerational
Super Grid effort. But one can judge the ultimate benefits: a carbonless, ecologically gentle domestic energy
infrastructure yielding economic and Physical security.
Alternatives where hydrogen might be predicted directly also exist, in the broadest sense the Energy SuperGrid
combines the vision of the Hydrogen Economy with a futuristic vision of continued electrification.
What would be the benefits of the Energy SuperGrid? Will they justify a large national investment? In the history of
technology, social structure has been significantly altered on a century time scale by the slow diffusion of new
technological developments; for example, the steam engine, electricity, wire and wireless communication, internal
combustion engine, jet engine, microprocessor, internet, etc. These are all enablers of technologies that led to social
change. In a more modest way, a demonstrated SuperGrid might result in such change. The future energy sources will be
a mix of old and new options. The SuperGrid concept may be a stimulant for new options. In opening remarks at the
Workshop, Dr. Starr enumerated possible outcomes that may provide motivational background that flow from the
operational character of the SuperGrid.Minimizes virtual distance between source and load with a no-loss expandable
power line. On a large enough scale, the SuperGrid minimizes the distance constraint most notably between the east and
west coasts. On a smaller scale it could connect regional transmission networks. It would thus provide a back-up supply
for regional outages due to weather extremes, and similar unpredictable events.

Speak to the hand, because the face, it ain't listening is a phrase that I am quite sure that many of us has heard of

We know what hand strengtheners are like, and it is ideal to de-stress with it especially when you are at the office trying
to figure out a solution to a rather difficult problem, but why not infuse some technology into the entire shebang? In a
nutshell, the Talking Hand Strengtheners will verbally announce results as you exercise, doing away with the distraction
of tracking statistics visually. Other than that, it works just like any other hand strengtheners as each squeeze of the
device's handgrip would strengthen the extensor muscles in your hands, wrists, and elbows, while helping reduce the
painful symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and tendonitis. Some of the announcements include the
force of the current squeeze, the accumulated force of all squeezes, total number of repetitions, and maximum squeeze
force (up to 110 lbs.) in a pleasant female voice, with the slew of statistics being shown off on an LCD panel. Of course,

IPAD DOCUMENT SCANNER
The iPad is a tablet that has achieved its fair share of accolades, and you can basically find an app that does just about
anything you want to with a tablet on it. Well, peripherals for the iPad have not been
entirely the most interesting market to look at, as majority of the peripherals rolled out for it tend to be protective cases
and covers, including those that come with a built-in keyboard so that you have a pseudo-Ultra book of sorts on the go.
Well, the $149.95 iPad Document Scanner is certainly something else altogether.
In a nutshell, the iPad Document Scanner functions as a device that is capable of scanning documents straight to an iPad.
This scanner will be able to feed pictures as well as documents automatically, up
to 8 1/2 x 14 in size, before converting them to the JPEG file format, where they are subsequently stored on a docked
iPad. This does away with the need to scan documents to a computer before they
are transferred over to an iPad, as the device will save the scanned images straight to the iPad's camera roll. The scanning
progress will be shown in real time on the iPad, and you will be able to enjoy images which have been scanned at 300 dpi
resolution, paving the way for you to carry preserved documents in their digital formats in clear, full-color glory.
Whenever your iPad is docked, the scanner will take this opportunity to juice itself up as well.

The Information Revolution is quickly transitioning into an Augmented Technological Revolution. The previous ways that
humanity interfaces with the world are being replaced with revolutionary mobile platforms. This has profound
implications for the international system over the next few decades. Both the way it will soon operate and the autonomy
of advanced artificial intelligence will create new dimensions beyond strictly human interactions.
Augmented Reality (AR) is presently extending the Information Age a step further. AR is defined as the real-time digital
enhancement of reality. This is currently being accomplished through software applications using cell phones, digital
goggles, GPS, video cameras, sensors, microphones, CPU, internet and digital voice assistance in real-time. One's reality
is instantly enhanced by literally adding a digital, or artificial, layer of reality.
One example of AR includes a Heads-Up Display (HUD) which is the process of looking through a transparent surface, like
eye glasses, and seeing instant relevant information displayed over one's vision. Google has been instrumental in
developing this process through their Glass project which is expected to be commercially available to the public by the
end of 2014.
Soldiers using AR will be able to easily differentiate between friend and foe. They will receive real-time information on
everything from their environment to mission updates. They will be able to connect with autonomous weapon systems
right on the battlefield, working alongside robotic weapon systems.
The technology has already been used by U.S. Marine mechanics to help them with more efficient repairs. Detailed
specifications, for instance, can instantaneously be displayed through goggles when looking over an engine. Other
branches of armed forces continue to use and develop new adaptations.
In addition to AR devices, other augmented technologies will include human exoskeleton systems, mechanical implants,
and even cognitive interfaces that can mesh technology directly to the brain via an electro-encephalogram (EEG). This
process interprets brain waves and translates them to a computer or device without the need of a mouse, hands, or
gestures. A growing international market is selling this Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology to the public today. A
growing international market is selling BCI technology to the public today, allowing users to navigate the virtual world,
interface with desktop computers, make phone calls, play games, and control robotic machines without any physical
exertion.
The global information system is no longer based purely on human thought processes. It is now a multidimensional
complexity, composed of necessary layers of influence and interaction, including nature, the human, the augmented,
and the artificial.
Of the dimensions, three of themnature, the human, and the artificialwill within a decade define the true global
environment as causal realms of self-sustaining systems that work independently and cross over with each other in
increasingly complex networks. The augmented dimension is not a true dimension but a bridge that links the human to
the other three.
The old international relations models relied on the human layer directly above nature only. They understood nature-
human, human-nature, and human-human interactions. Each new layer beyond the human or nature dimension will
permit a greater amount of non-human and non-nature interaction. The new era predicted long ago is finally now gaining
momentumhuman-to machine and machine-to-machine interactions are increasing the norms of international
relations.
The challenge for societies will be to utilize these technological augments the most intelligent way, thereby allowing for
the projection of one's political and social influence in globalist interactions.
Before the machines take over, however, the Augmented Technological Revolution adds further attributes to the
potential of deciphering the human thoughts using: faster computer processors, better software predictive models, and
individualized brain mapping techniques. With the help of machines, humans may even be able to read minds in the
future.
Really?
Yes, in the sense of collecting more data on personal preferences and beliefs, instant profile updates, gauging intentions,
identifying brain patterns and signatures, and predicting the most likely behaviors of a human actor in real-time.
No, in that the present and emergent technology will not have a perfect representation of an individual's intentions. Even
with a perfect profile, the human remains a black box with potential deviation from or radical random action. Still, neural
feedback is not just a one-way communication and BCI devices by the midcentury will not only be able to interpret an
individual's unique signature and waves associating a person's basic thoughts, but eventually be able to influence them
as well. Be sure to purchase the BCI headsets that do not allow incoming hackers the ability to stimulate your nervous
system!
Humor aside, the 21st century is not necessarily one ruled by machines, but certainly one that is ruled alongside with
them. It is not just the people of the world that will fall behind without adopting augmented and artificial intelligence
technologiesgovernments that ignore them will appear a generation inferior to the ones that intelligently put them to
use. Only by considering an international actor's perception of the world, which will also include understanding
augmented technologies and non-human agents, will the burgeoning international political system be understood
correctly.

University of Leicester experts have held discussions with military personnel in Afghanistan following the discovery of
new technology to identify fingerprints on metal.
Dr John Bond, a forensic research scientist at the University of Leicester and scientific support manager at
Northamptonshire Police, has worked with a team from the University Department of Chemistry to develop the novel
technique.
The state-of-the-art forensic method that can identify fingerprints on bullets could now be used on bombs. The new
techniques can pick up fingerprints on metal even after they have been wiped off.
After the research was published earlier this year, Dr Bond has been approached by military personnel in Afghanistan to
discuss potential use of the technique.
Dr Bond is investigating whether the technique can be used to find prints on roadside bombs. It would mean recovered
fragments of bombs could be tested for prints put on it while it was manufactured.
Dr Bond said " We have developed a method that enables us to 'visualise fingerprints' even after the print itself has been
removed. We conducted a study into the way fingerprints can corrode metal surfaces.
The technique can enhance - after firing- a fingerprint that has been deposited on a small calibre metal cartridge case
before it is fired.
"For the first time we can get prints from people who handled a cartridge before it was fired. Wiping it down, washing it in
hot soapy water makes no difference - and the heat of the shot helps the process we use.
"The procedure works by applying an electric charge to a metal - say a gun or bullet - which has been coated in a fine
conducting powder, similar to that used in photocopiers.
"Even if the fingerprint has been washed off, it leaves a slight corrosion on the metal and this attracts the powder when
the charge is applied, so showing up a residual fingerprint.
"The technique works on everything from bullet casings to machine guns. Even if heat vaporises normal clues, police will
be able to prove who handled a particular gun.
Dr Bond said they had found the method worked well on certain metals including brass which is often used for bullet
casing.

It wasn't until the 19th century that artificial light was first generated. The big leap came in the 1880s, when Thomas
Edison lit homes with the incandescent bulb. Since then, for the next 130 years, incandescents ruled the nights, the
roads, and especially the Christmas tree.
But now, the incandescent light bulb, one of the most venerable inventions of its era but deemed too inefficient for our
own, will be phased off the U.S. market beginning in 2012 under the new energy law just approved by Congress. In Europe
alsom the stage has been set for the imminent death of the incandescent light bulb. And the rest of the World is also
following the same. Already many stores across the world stopped stocking the good old bulbs already.
The days of the traditional incandescent bulb look numbered because these electricity-sapping glass orbs have fallenout
of favour with environmentally-conscious governments,And waiting in the wings is a new breed of hi-tech light based on
the humble LED (light-emitting diode), the small lights found in everything from TV remote controls to bike lights. Not
only do they promise to solve the bulb's environmental woes, their backers say they will also respond intelligently to your
surroundings and even influence the way we behave.
Efficient LED technology looks set to flick the switch on traditional incandescent lightbulbs forever, say researchers.
Already, the efficiency and long life of LEDs is making them a popular if costly option in places where changing bulbs is
inconvenient or expensive, such as in motorway lights, traffic signals, airport runways or on large buildings and bridges.
For example, the Louvre museum in Paris is currently replacing 4,500 bulbs with LED equivalents, a change that is
expected to result in a 73% reduction in energy consumption. Plans are also in place to replace the 25-year-old lighting
system that illuminates Tower Bridge in London with LED lighting in time for the 2012 Olympic Games. An assortment of
LED lightbulbs that are commercially available as of 2010 as replacements for screw-in bulbs
LEDs, it is claimed, will help overcome these problems. These tiny lights were invented by GE in the early 1960s and were
initially only available in red, a property that defined the look of early pocket calculators and digital watches. Over the
years, however, more colours have appeared.
People still use vacuum tubes for some applications, and similarly incandescent bulbs may never go away completely. But
it is not a question of if, but of when LED lighting will be the norm throughout the world.
We are only just at the start of the LED lighting revolution, and you may never look up at the ceiling in the same way again.

Bhatia comes up with the business plan for the mail service, he tried all kinds of names but in ending he finally settled for
hotmail as it included the letter HTML the programming language used to write web pages. It was initially referred to as
HoTMaiL with selective uppercasing.
Hewlett-Packard
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called Hewlett
Packard.
Intel
Bob Noyce and Gorden Moore wanted to name their new company 'Morre Noyce' but that was already trademarked by a
hotel chain so they has to settle for an acronym of INTegrated Electronic.
Microsoft
Coined by Bill Gates to represent the company that was devoted to MICROcomputer SOFTware. Originally christened
Microsoft.
Motorola
Founder Paul Galvin came up with this name when his company started manufacturing radios for cars, the popular radio
company at that time was called Victoria.
Sony
It originated from the latin word 'sonus' meaning sound and'sonny' a slang used by Americans to refer to a bright
youngster.
SUN
Founder by 4 Stanford University buddies, SUN is the acronym for Stanford University network. Andreas Bachtolsheim
built a microcomputer; Vinod Khosla recruited him and Scott MeNealy to manufacturer computers based on it and bill
joy to develop UNIX-based OS for the computer.
Yahoo!
The word was invented by Johanthan Swift and used in his book 'Gulliver's Travels'. It reperesents a person who is
repulsive in appearance and action and is barely human. Yahoo! Founder Jerry Yang and David Filo selected the name
because they considered themselves yahoos.

He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant.
The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having
a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.
Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, I don't get it! You can't be a positive
person all of the time. How do you do it? Jerry replied, Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two
choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good
mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn
from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the
positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.
Yes it is, Jerry said. Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how
you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The
bottom line: It's your choice how you live life.
I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but
often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that Jerry did
something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held
up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the
combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local
trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments
of the bullets still in his body. I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, If
I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?
I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. The first thing
that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door, Jerry replied. Then, as I lay on the floor, I
remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live.
Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness? I asked. Jerry continued, The paramedics were great. They kept
telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the
faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action.
Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me, said Jerry. She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes,' I
replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!'
Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.
Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we
have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything

Dear Friends ,
Mechanical engineers with a decade or more of experience can attest to how much their world has changed during their
careers. In the next15 years, mechanical engineering is certain to experience continuing and surprising changes.
Particularly one must be concerned about how to prepare the mechanical engineer of 2028 to have the critical
knowledge and competencies required in the future. They are looking to a future characterized by engineering large and
small scale systems, meeting the competitive edge of knowledge and embracing the collaborative advantage, regulating
global innovation, anticipating the diverse face of a global engineering profession, preparing for the technological
capabilities of the Nano-Bio future and designing at home. The following text of this article will look at each challenge
briefly.
DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLY : Rapidly developing economies are adding to global environmental pressures and
competition for energy, water, and other high-demand resources. Mechanical engineering will be challenged to develop
new technologies and techniques that support economic growth and promote sustainability.
ENGINEERING LARGE & SMALL SCALE SYSTEMS : Engineers in 2028 will work at the extremes of very large and very small
systems that require greater knowledge and coordination of multidisciplinary and multi-scale engineering across greater
distances and timeframes. A new field of systems engineering will incorporate much of the knowledge and practices of
mechanical engineering.
COMPETITIVE EDGE OF KNOWLEDGE : In 2028, the ability of individuals and organizations to learn, innovate, adopt and
adapt faster will drive advanced economies. Mechanical engineering education will be restructured to resolve the
demands for many individuals with greater technical knowledge and more professionals who also have depth in
management, creativity and problem-solving.
COLLABORATIVE ADVANTAGE :The dominant players in all industries in 2028 will be those organizations that are
successful at working collaboratively. The 21st century will be defined not by conflict but by the integration of
competitive markets with new methods of collaboration.
REGULATING GLOBAL INNOVATION : Innovation, within the framework of a global economy, will remain a complex affair
in 2028. Fundamental restructuring of the regulation and protection of intellectual property on a global basis is unlikely.
As more complex technologies require greater collaboration and sharing of patents, incremental changes will occur to
produce equitable and beneficial results for the innovators and those that adopt and commercialize innovations.
DIVERSE FACE OF ENGINEERING : Demand for new technologies will sustain global demand for adequately skilled and
innovative mechanical engineers in 2028. Prospective employers will seek and promote people with unique and varied
backgrounds to maximize their potential for success in diverse cultures and situations.
THE NANO-BIO FUTURE : Nanotechnology and biotechnology will dominate technological development in the next 20
years and will be incorporated into all aspects of technology that affect our lives on a daily basis. Nano-Bio will provide
the building blocks that future engineers will use to solve pressing problems in diverse fields including medicine, energy,
water management, aeronautics, agriculture and environmental management.
DESIGNING AT HOME : By 2028, advances in computer aided design, materials, robotics, nanotechnology and
biotechnology will democratize the process of designing and creating new devices. Engineers will be able to design
solutions to local problems. Individual engineers will have more latitude to design and build their devices using
indigenous materials and labor creating a renaissance for engineering entrepreneurs. The engineering workforce will
change as more engineers work at home as part of larger decentralized engineering companies or as independent
entrepreneurs.

Intellectual honesty is a rare phenomenon, the possession of which is a must it you want to considered as dependable ,
intelligent and farsighted, person distinguishable from ordinary people.
Read a lot selectively and think over and from your own view this is the only way you can develop distinctive personality
and leave your indelible footprints wherever you go.
Be honest about assessing your weak points as well. Nobody has perfect qualifications and a perfect work record.
Everyone has had some failure or disappointment but the important thing is to be aware of these weak points yourself so
that you can be prepared with the best positive interpretation of them it the Board picks them up.

As we all know that agriculture plays a key role in India's economy and has its share in GDP. With 70% of the population
engaged in Agriculture is a principal contribution to India's economic outputs. India is among the first countries in the
world to have passed legislation granting Farmers' Rights in the form of the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers'
Right Act, 2001 as per Farmer Rights a Case Study dated June 2006. Farming supported by various public sector
components consists the National Seed Corporation (NSC) and State Farm Corporation of India (SFCI) and 13 Seed
Corporations as per Grossman, 1991. However, in spite of large formal agricultural system in India, the majority of
farmers depend on informal seed system as per Asokan, 1991.
The overall agricultural slowdown has drastically affected GDP to reach to 2.5% as per the report of Central Statistics
Office and Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) for the Financial Year 2011-March 2012. This has also
reduced the agricultural exports from 14.32% in 2000-01 to 10.59% in 2009-10 according to the Indian Journal for
Agricultural Science. Moreover, Growth of Indian economy had risen up in Financial Year 2011 up to 7% the Indian
Economic update March 2012 has slashed India's growth forecast to 6.5%.
Every now and then we come across newspaper headings and TV News channel captions, one from an old edition of
Indian Express ( Dated February 5th 2006) What drove three men, all cotton farmers, to kill themselves last month?
Along with 19 others in a span of days. Taking the suicide count to over 300 in the last 10 months, 1000 plus in the last five
years? what we do is just read the story and pass on to the other pages of newspaper. In real sense we stay quite and
mum. An alarming trend has been witnessed in India in recent years with rising rates of farmers committing suicides.
There are various reasons to it
Worst effected states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka have witnessed high number of suicides, while
reports have also emerged from agriculturally prosperous states like Punjab. Welcomed with released subsidy on
agricultural goods has recently been hammered by Government. With allowing stake up to 51% in multi-brand retail
sector to foreign farms with FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) of value-added farm products will flood the retail sector and
with our Indian well-to-do masses, they will opt to 'videshi' and leave the farmers' interest on back burner. Currently,
farmers get a margin on sale of their products through age-old 'mandi' system and exploitation by too many middlemen
in the supply chain management. As, per the market rate of cotton in Vidharbha per 10 quintal is Rs 35, 000 most of the
times farmers pay heavy rate of interest of 3% per month to middlemen which annually is about 36%. As also said by
noted Economist and Ecologist Vandana Shiva that cotton farmers are in the suicide belt of India. Government should
focus on bringing in more 'transparency' through commodity exchanges at rural levels by setting up Per Quintal Base Rate
for crops. It is time that we the youth force of India be united and follow the sayings of Swami Vivekananda -
In all 65 years of Indian Independence still we have 56 farmers committing suicide every month in India which is a serious
matter of concern for a democratic nation like India, Irrigation and Farming standards not up to the mark and many issues
still pending in the background, it makes me feel sorry as Real development is Rural development. I would like to
conclude with the words of Amma, a great spiritual person M.A Math- In truth, the situation is worse than the third
world war, If it were war, there would be instant death- not this long, drawn out suffering. Rectifying the situation is a
Himalayan task. Only if we generate love and compassion in our hearts and come together as one we hope to make
change.
MOTIVATIONAL STORY
One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed
help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her.
Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt
her? He didn't look safe; he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold.
He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fears can put in you.
He said, I'm here to help you, ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan
Anderson.
Well, all she had was a flat tire but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to
put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands
hurt.
As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him. She told him that she was
from St. Louis and was only just passing through. She couldn't thank him enough for coming to her aid.
Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. The lady asked how much she owed him. Any amount would have been all right
with her. She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped.
Bryan never thought twice about being paid. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows
there were plenty, who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him
to act any other way.
He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give
that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, And think of me.
He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for
home, disappearing into the twilight.
A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she
made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene
was unfamiliar to her. The waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one
that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn't erase. The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months
pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so
little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Bryan
After the lady finished her meal, she paid with a hundred dollar bill. The waitress quickly went to get change for her
hundred dollar bill, but the old lady had slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. The
waitress wondered where the lady could be. Then she noticed something written on the napkin.
There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote:You don't owe me anything. I have been there too.
Somebody once helped me out, the way I'm helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let
this chain of love end with you.
Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day.
That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had
written. How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it
was going to be hard.
She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft
and low, Everything' s going to be all right. I love you, Bryan Anderson.
There is an old saying What goes around comes around. Today I sent you this story and I'm asking you to pass it on. Let
this light shine.
Don't delete it, don't return it. Simply, pass this on to a friend.
Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!~

I started my education in Marathi medium from childhood, made my debut in this college as an average student having
average percentage in H.S.C. in 2009, when I got admitted in this college, it was under construction, was not beautiful as it
is now! As everyone goes through the infrastructure and year of establishment of College, I also went through it and
made my entry in this college. Yes, that was the Best Decision taken by me. TGPCET has changed my life a lot in the
following way.
With the best lecturers in my 1st year, I passed it with good percentage. I was in Electronics & Communication Previously,
attended classes in the same for a month but could not make interest in that field. So, I applied to change my branch.
Management of my college allowed me to do so and I stared my journey towards civil engineering. That was life
changing decision taken by Management for me. From that day, I never looked behind.
Just after a month in civil engineering, I was elected as president of my departmental forum. Just got a reason to move
ahead. Then, I never got back, am continuously topper of my department, got 8th rank in MPSC main examination for the
post of Assistant Engineer II, Qualified in GATE 2013 with good marks and planning to get admission in IIT's and NIT's,
and recently got 6th University Merit in 8th Semester RTMNU Examination. All it was impossible without the Support and
motivation I got from my college. TGPCET has given me an unique identity and took apart from the crowd. I am always
thankful to my college and I' II be.
The Aim behind telling you all these are not praising myself. It's all about for you friends to believe in yourself and in your
college. Think like if I'm here then my college is best. No matter what you were or what you are, you can be the best.

Hi friends, I am Vishal Nandurkar. I accepted fetus Christ as my savior in 2003. When I didn't know who is true god, in that
time I was so sick & I was in wrong fellowship But one day I got the gospel of the God & that is Jesus Christ came in this
world as man to show the way of life then he died on cross for our sin, he was buried & he was raised on third day & today
he is alive. I take experience of Jesus that, he giving healing from all Sickness, he save his people from their sing, he
always with us & he wills never leave us Because, God loved the world so that he gave hid one & only son (Jesus) for us,
that whoever believes on him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus said that Believed on me, means you & your household will be saved. And the men who trust a Jesus will be put to

Rote learning still plagues our system, students study only to score marks in exams, and sometimes to crack exams. The
colonial masters introduced education systems in India to create clerks and civil servants, and we have not deviated much
from that pattern till today. If once the youngsters prepared for civil services and bank officers exams, they now prepare
to become engineers. If there are a few centers of educational excellence, for each of those there are thousands of
mediocre and terrible schools, colleges and now even universities that do not meet even minimum standards. If things
have changed a little bit somewhere, elsewhere things have sunk into further inertia, corruption and lack of ambition.
Creating a few more schools or allowing hundreds of colleges and private universities to mushroom is not going to solve
the crisis of education in India. And a crisis it is we are in a country where people are spending their parent's life savings
and borrowed money on education and even then not getting standard education, and struggling to find employment
of their choice. In this country, millions of students are victim of an unrealistic, pointless, mindless rat race. The mind
numbing competition and rote learning do not only crush the creativity and originality of millions of Indian students
every year, it also drives brilliant students to commit suicide.
Education system in India is failing because of more intrinsic reasons. There are systemic faults that do not let our
demand for good education translate into a great marketplace with excellent education services. Let's explore
something else in this one: what should change in India education system? What needs to be fixed at the earliest?

The answer to these questions will let you think, I am sure that nobody will answer these questions accurately and
spontaneously, because there is a vast difference in today's life style as compared to the previous one,
In earlier days, there was some pattern of life of a family; they were satisfied with their availabilities though they were
neither educated nor rich. But had a great peace and comfort.
But as days passed away, the whole system has been rotated anticlockwise.
People started to live like others, they were attracted by the foreign culture and their life pattern, We have started flowing
with the sparkling world which is very beautiful but actually not required
We have started forgetting our rituals, disciplinary values, morals, our customs and our origin.
New arrivals fascinates us and to get that expensive so called materialistic happiness we do whatever we can , then in that
case we don't think even which path we are going on . Whether it is an asset or a liability.
In the world of competition we always want to be the best in any circumstances for that we have started earning money
by different modes.
Corruption the new termite started spoiling our self- respect. Every second person has thrown his emotions, self respect,
guilt and self obsession into a dustbin.
Humanity the best character which can make us and keep us in a thread of unity, but gradually we are losing that also.
Thus we have reached to such a stage that even the animals no matter it is a small ant or biggest mammal Whale live more
better life than we are living.
Our curiosity and anxiety has made us so peculiar about the way we are living that we have forgotten the way we should
live.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING
February 7, 2012 This date rewinds our thoughts to rethink one of the most insane news flash of the year 2012, The Baby

I am throwing light on this fact and just giving some piece of information on one of the biggest rackets of our society,

profit earning source for the criminal world. Deep down inside our hearts how can people be so insane to sell human
flesh? Human Flesh is not for sale. There can be no value for the life of humans Have people made human life valuable
or valueless is a question that arises in our mind! Abject of poverty, Gender discrimination, Domestic Violence are some
of the major root causes which give rise to human trafficking.
Generally, illiterate, innocent and poor people become the target of this crime world! Girls, women, boys and even adults
have been sold off in this criminal world for the illegal and wrong purpose of slavery and exploitation. A victim undergoes
physical as well as mental and psychological impacts deep in his heart mind and soul. Nearly 800 thousand people are
trafficked annually!
Government and international laws have been made to protect our society. These issues must be seriously taken care of.
The human trafficking issues is a humanities issue which usually occurs in backward countries where it involves the poor
exploited by those who initially promised income if they been accepted for work place and in accordance with the sector
and where they live and narrowness needed. The poor usually have complex financial problems, and this makes them
willing to place themselves in anywhere without investigating the background and basic information that what will be
their job. Furthermore, they have lack of knowledge and ignorance about their rights and the importance of
understanding how to defend themselves from deceived cause they are unable to get out when hit by this problem. At
the same time also, they have lack of exposure, and they are more easily cheated. Thus, measures the best solution is
comprehensive, especially the involvement of government in formulating and drafting laws that can protect people from
falling prey to problems. Moreover, the involvement of NGOs' in helping the government solve this problem is
appropriate and timely because the NGO's can carry out the duties that cannot be carried out by Government. This issue
will only be done if all the emphasis and direct assistance whether in terms of moral and financial, and suggestions with
combating this commercial crimes.
