Alien Queen rules

MONSTROUS ANATOMY:
THE QUEEN AND THE EGG BASE
The HorrorClix AVP: Alien Queen Action Pack includes items that
are used with the HorrorClix Starter Game. You need the HorrorClix
Starter Game in order to play with the items found in the AVP:
Alien Queen Action Pack. In addition to this rules sheet, you should
find the following items in the Pack:

1 Alien monster and monster card

1 Predator monster and monster card
1 Alien Queen monster and monster card
1 Egg Base and 3 dial cards (Chained Queen Dial, Egg Sac Dial,
Harness Dial)
4 plot twist cards
6 minion tokens and 2 monster cards
6 victim tokens
1 Alien Queen Containment Chamber play map
Note that the dial, minion monster, and Alien Queen monster cards for the AVP: Alien Queen Action
Pack are printed together on a full-color insert.

The Alien Queen figure has two parts: the Alien Queen herself and
an Egg Base into which she can be inserted. These parts allow the
Alien Queen to start a game in two different ways: as the Egg Base
(chained to it) or as herself (free of the Egg Base).
HARNESS DIAL

CHAINED ALIEN QUEEN DIAL

QUEEN DIAL

EGG SAC DIAL

Start Option 1: Chained to the Egg Base
In this option, the Alien Queen begins the battle chained down to
the Egg Base by a rigid, unbreakable harness of metal clamps and
collars, but she can still lay eggs to produce Alien minions that can
cause chaos and help free her.

When using this option, the Egg Base adds 450 points to a players
build total, and that player will need the Alien Queen monster card,
the Alien Egg Minion and Alien Drone Minion monster cards, and the
three Egg Base dial cards.

Prepare to play. Before the game begins, insert the Alien Queen
into the Egg Base by fitting her base into the indentation and her
tail into the slot on the Egg Sac. Until the harness restraining
the Queen is destroyed and she is freed from the Egg Base (see
Harness Dial), the Queen can only lay eggs to create Alien
minions (see Egg Sac Dial) and lash out at any opponent who
gets too close (see Chained Queen Dial).

When starting the game using Option 1, we recommend playing

the Egg Base on the play map included in this Action Pack: the
Alien Queen Containment Chamber. At the start of the game,
place the Egg Base in the spaces of rows 68, columns AF. You
can also use the Upper Pyramid map included in the AVP: Aliens
Collectors Set. If youre using this map, at the start of the game
place the Egg Base in rows 13, columns MR. Note that the
Alien Queen in the Egg Base can be played on any map on which
there is room to place the base. When playing the Egg Base on
other maps, all players should agree on where the Egg Base should
be placed at the start of the game.

EGG BASE RULES
The Egg Base occupies 18 spaces on the map (a 6-space by 3-space
area) and can have up to 22 adjacent spaces. The Egg Base has three
dials: the Chained Queen dial, the Egg Sac dial, and the Harness
dial. Be sure to turn all three dials to the vertical green line before
starting the game.

The following general rules apply while the Alien Queen is inserted into the
Egg Base:

Ignore the Alien Queen dial; it cant be given any action or be

attacked.
The Egg Base does not receive an action token when it is given
an action, never becomes vulnerable, cant move, and cant
become blooded.
The Egg Base ignores other monsters Impel and Scare powers;
ignores other monsters Invisible, Phantom, and Stealth powers
when its attacking; and cant go insane or be possessed.
If the Chained Queen dial is killed (shows three symbols) while
the Alien Queen is inserted into the Egg Base, remove the Egg
Base and the Alien Queen from the game. The player who kills
the Chained Queen dial receives 450 victory points for the Egg Base
(none for the Alien Queen).

Chained Queen Dial

While the Alien Queen is bound by her heavy restraints, the Chained
Queen dial represents her ability to attack nearby opponents with
the powers described on the Chained Queen Dial card. The Chained
Queen dial can attack and be attacked by opposing monsters. The
Chained Queen dial is at the rear of the Egg Base, opposite the
indentation for the Alien Queen.

Egg Sac Dial
The Egg Sac dial represents the Alien Queens ability to lay Alien
Eggs that can become Alien minions, as described on the Egg Sac
Dial card. The Egg Sac dial cant attack or be attacked. The Egg Sac
dial is on the right of the Egg Base and is the only dial on the Egg
Base showing the symbol.

Minion tokens. Each minion token has two sides: One side is printed
with an Alien Egg minion and the other is printed with an Alien
Drone minion. Minions are friendly to the player who creates them.
Their combat values are printed on their tokens and their powers are
printed on the Alien Minion monster card and Alien Drone monster
card, respectively. An Alien Egg minion or an Alien Drone minion
that takes 1 damage is killed. The point values of Alien Egg minions
and Alien Drone minions are not added to the build total of the
player playing the Egg Base. When Alien Egg minions and Alien
Drone minions are killed, victory points are awarded to the player
who kills them.

Harness Dial
The Harness dial represents the metal harness restraining the Alien
Queen. The Harness dial cant attack, but all monsters (friendly and
opposing) can attack the Harness dial. If the Harness dial is dealt
enough damage so that four shattered link ( ) symbols appear
on the dial, the Alien Queen is freed from the harness. Immediately
remove the Alien Queen from the Egg Base and place the Alien Queen
adjacent to the Egg Base or in the nearest unoccupied spaces. She may
be given an action on the same turn she is freed. The Harness dial is
on the left side of the Egg Base, opposite the Egg Sac dial.

After the Alien Queen is freed, the Egg Base is considered to be blocking
terrain with no other qualities; it cant be attacked or affected by any
power or effect. Once the Alien Queen is freed, she cant return to the
Egg Base, and may be assigned actions (see Start Option 2: Free of the
Egg Base) beginning on the turn she is removed from the Egg Base.

ATTACKING THE EGG BASE
The Egg Base can attack and be attacked through any of its 22
possible adjacent spaces. The Egg Base can make a ranged combat
attack against any target in range, even if opposing monsters are in a
space adjacent to the Egg Base. Lines of fire drawn to the Egg Base
are not blocked by other monsters. When drawing a line of fire to or
from the Egg Base, you can draw it to or from the center of any of
the 18 spaces the Egg Base occupies. When attacking the Egg Base,
prior to making the attack roll, choose which dial is being attacked:
the Harness dial or the Chained Queen dial.

After the resolution of a close combat or ranged combat attack from

an opposing monster that causes an Egg Base dial to take at least 1
damage, the Egg Base immediately makes a retaliatory attack as a free
action (using the Chained Queen dial) against the attacker (only). If
the attacker is out of range, then the Egg Base does not get a free
action to make an attack against that monster.

Start Option 2: Free of the Egg Base

In this option, the Alien Queen monster starts the game ready to run
rampant. When using this option, the Alien Queen adds 300 points to a
players build total. The following rules also apply when the Alien Queen
has been freed from her harness using the Egg Base start option; in this
case, she does not add 300 points to a players build total.

The Alien Queen occupies 4 spaces on the map and has only one dial: the
Alien Queen dial. You need only the Alien Queen monster card to play
the Alien Queen.

GENERAL ALIEN QUEEN RULES
The following general rules apply when the Alien Queen is free of the
Egg Base:

If the Egg Base is on the play map, ignore all its dials; it is
blocking terrain that cant attack or be attacked.
The Alien Queen ignores other monsters Impel and Scare
powers; ignores other monsters Invisible, Phantom, and Stealth
powers when shes attacking; and cant go insane or be possessed.
The Alien Queen does not receive an action token when she is
given an action, but she may be given only one action per turn.
The Alien Queen is always blooded.
The player who kills the Alien Queen monster receives 300 victory
points.

Moving the Alien Queen

When moving the Alien Queen, choose any space adjacent to the
Alien Queen to begin counting movement. The Alien Queen must
end her movement so that her base rests on one of the spaces within
her movement range and no part of her base rests on a space outside
her movement range. When counting movement for the Alien
Queen, if a space with a wall token, portal marker, or other object on
it is included in her movement, or if she ends her movement with
her base resting on a space containing one of those items, that item is
removed from play and replaced with a hindering terrain marker.

The Alien Queen cant move through indoor blocking terrain, cant
end her movement with any part of her base occupying a space with
blocking terrain on it, and ignores the effects of hindering terrain and
closed portals for movement purposes. No part of the Alien Queens
base can occupy a space that is occupied by another monster.

Attacking with the Alien Queen
The Alien Queen has a maximum of 12 adjacent spaces. She can
attack and be attacked through any of them. The Alien Queen can
make a ranged combat attack against any target in range, even if
opposing monsters are in an adjacent space. When drawing a line
of fire to or from the Alien Queen, you can draw it to or from the
center of any of the 4 spaces the Alien Queen occupies.

Objective
The monster horde must stop the Alien Queen from breaking free! If
