teratoma formation

Developed DNA-based SERS beacon to detect single base pair mis-matched mutation.
Developed a new class of reliable and active targeting SERS nano-tags for ultra-sensitive
detection in live cells

Implemented near-field Raman microscope for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)
spectroscopy as a novel technique for nanoscale chemical and biosensors
Designed and built a high-resolution Difference Frequency Mixing (DFM) laser system in the near
infrared range with high conversion efficiency and intense output power
Developed optical-optical double-resonance laser excitation scheme combining with pulsed field
ionization (PFI-ZEKE) detection to precisely locate individual quantum states with respect to the
ground state, enabling the exploration of state-selected photoionization dynamics and greatly
simplifying the spectral assignments
Fully controlled and operated the world-class high-resolution VUV photoionization experimental
end-station at ALS and conducted frontier research on chemical applications of third generation
VUV synchrotron radiation
First introduced infrared (IR) optical parametric oscillator (OPO) tunable laser system to
synchrotron source to provide a basis for novel scientific directions in understanding high-
resolution photoionization dynamic processes
Proficient data analysis skills including interpretation of experimental data by simulation and
theoretical computation using numerical models
Performed systematic kinetics studies in alkyl iso-nitrile isomerization reactions using HeI
photoelectron spectroscopy (HeI PES)
Synthesized and studied HeI PES of NO3 and peroxy radicals to understand atmospheric
chemistry and cancer forming mechanism
