Chapter 1
INSTALLATION / REMOVAL

1. INSTALLATION OF THE SOFTWARE

1.1. MINIMUM CONFIGURATION

The software will operate with Windows 9x, Windows 2000, Windows NT,
Windows XP.

1.2. INSTALLATION

Follow the procedure below to install the software.

Insert the S5Demo CDROM into the reader. The installation starts itself. Else if it
doesn't start, open the "Windows Explorer" program, then select the CDROM
drive (in which you have placed the CD) then double click on the "setup.exe"
program to begin the installation.
The following window appears:

Click on the "Next >" button to continue. The following window appears:

The installation software ask the S5Demo software destination location, if you are
agree with the folder proposed (recommended) click on the "Next >" button, else,
click on the "Browse" button to select another folder.
The software do the complete S5Demo installation, then displays the following window
to indicate that the installation is complete:

Click on the "Finish" button to quit the installation wizard.

The S5Demo software is installed on your computer and ready to run.

2. UNINSTALL THE SOFTWARE

Procedure to follow to remove the software from a computer:

Insert the S5Dmo CDROM into the reader. Launch the "Explorer Windows",
select the CDROM reader (which one the CDROM is in) then double click on the
"setup.exe" file to uninstall it.
The following window appears:

Then the following one:

Confirm the uninstall files by clicking on "OK".

The software runs the S5Demo complete uninstall files and then displays the following
windows to indicate the correct operation:

Click on the "Finish" button to quit the installation.

The software is removed from your computer.

OPERATION

1. DESCRIPTION OF THE SOFTWARE

The S5Demo software allows driving a measurement unit of 5th series type in a single
unit setup or in a network of several, in the same way that instruments can be controlled
from their front panel.
It allows the simulation of a front panel when the measurement unit is said to be blind
when it is devoid of any displays or keypads, allowing a communication with the
operator (measurement unit of F20A or F20D type).

For 5th Series instruments older than version 1.12, it is essential that you
deactivate the print function.

2. RUN THE SOFTWARE

To run the software, double-click on the file:

If the S5Demo icon is present on the computer desktop, then double click
on it, otherwise,

Double click on the "Program files/Ateq/S5Demo.exe" program in the Windows

explorer.
The following window appears:

To exit the program, press on the "Exit" menu.

When S5Demo has detected a unit, or a unit in the central, the software displays the
state of the unit.

3. DESCRIPTION OF THE FRONT PANEL

The representation is identical to that of a measurement unit equipped with a four line
LCD display.
It is composed of the following elements:

> Four line LCD display.

> Good part, Bad part and Alarm indicators.

> Navigation keys.

> Cycle Start and Reset keys.

> Parameters access or protection key.

Locked, Access.

In order to make the front panel work, point the mouse at the required. When the
icon appears a selection is validated, press on the mouse button once to carry out an
operation. If the icon appears, the selection is not valid.
The manipulation of the front panel is identical to that of a real one on an actual
instrument.
To configure and adjust the parameters of the measurement unit, refer to the user
manual for the corresponding instrument.
Note: to accede to the instrument parameters from the S5Demo software, it's important
that the access / lock key on the front panel of the instrument is on the "Locked"
position.

4. CONFIGURATION OF THE SOFTWARE

4.1. CONFIGURATION OF THE COMMUNICATION PORT

In the "Configuration/Serial port" menu of the software, select the port used for a
given instrument USB or COM 1. The communication protocols are automatically
configured.

4.2. STATION CONFIGURATION

In the "Configuration/Station" menu, select the type of system to be driven:

"Station search" allows to search the connected stations (measurement heads).
"User" for a manual selection.

"Address Station" allows configuring manually

the station address to be connected. To select
the head to be driven in a network who contains
several. Default address: 255.

"Single" to confirm the single station driving or not.

"Central" for driving a head into the network, in this case it may select the head to
be driven. Connect the network from the central serial port.

5. SAVE/RESORE STATION PARAMETERS

The software allows the backup and the restitution of programs and their parameters
from and into the instrument. These functions are accessible in the:
"Parameters/upload" menu for the backup, in which case S5Demo requests a path
and a name for the file to be saved.
During the uploading of the parameters, the following window appears to indicate the
operation progress:

Then the software confirms the successful save:

The extension name of the save file is: .bin

"Parameters/download" menu for the restitution of a program, in which case

S5Demo requests the file to be restored.
During the downloading of the parameters, the following window appears to indicate the
operation progress:

Then the software confirms the successful restore:

Parameters should only be restored to compatible instruments which have

identical configurations and software versions.

6. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

The S5Demo functions are directly accessible through keyboard shortcuts; the
information concerning these shortcuts is visible in the "Help/Informations" menu and
is presented as follows:

Reminder of the keyboard shortcuts, press on the corresponding key to validate a

function:

Shortcut Function Corresponding key

R RESET (reset to naught).

S START (start a cycle).

C or Del Cancel (deletion or return to the previous menu).

Locked,
P or K Turn the key to access or locked position.
Access.

Enter Validation of parameters or access to the menu.

+ "Up" key.

- "Down" key.

Note: the navigation keys "Up/Down/Right/Left" are available by using the directions
arrows of the computer keyboard.

7. VERSION

To find out which version of S5Demo is installed on a computer, select the "?/About
S5Demo" menu. The following window with the software version appears.
