Co-Grand Marshals

WATERTOWN, NY - The North Country Goes Green Irish


Festival is proud to announce that brothers Liam and Emmet
Jakubowski will be Co-Grand marshals for the 2017 Tom
Bowman North Country Goes Green Irish Festival Parade.

Emmett is a gifted and talented 6th grade student who


attends Fredrick Law Olmstead school in Buffalo NY. He
excels at school and is passionate about playing hockey. In
November 2015 he was diagnosed with two forms of
leukemia, ALL and CML. He received a Bone Marrow
Transplant in February 2016, from a 33 year old male who
lives somewhere in the United States. Emmett relapsed 80
days after the transplant and was given healthy white blood

cells called Leukocytes. He developed Graft vs. Host disease
and has remained in remission since June 2016.

Liam Jakubowski is a 10 year old 4th grader who also attends the gifted and talented Fredrick
Law Olmstead School. Liam enjoys playing hockey and video games. He also is a budding
artist. He was 8 when his brother was diagnosed with Leukemia and has suffered along with
Emmet and faced and overcame many fears.

Liam and Emmetts maternal grandparents Dick and Jane Lawlee, who live in Sackets Harbor
NY, are long time volunteers at the NCGG Irish Festival. Dick Lawlee is an executive member of
the Watertown Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Lawlee family were one of
the first host families for Project Children North.

These two courageous individuals epitomize that never quit attitude that the Irish are we;;
known for. Please join us in commending Emmett and Liam in their courage and
determination. We at the Irish Festival are proud to have you leading our parade and wish only
great things for you in the future. The fest request that your business, scout troop, baseball
team, Fire Department etc celebrate Liam and Emmet by marching (Sunday, March 19th 1pm)
