1. PRESENTATION.
DIALux Application Version 4.2 is a software standard calculations for natural l
ighting (daylight) and artificial lighting. With DIALux version 4.2, you can per
form calculations in lighting, indoor,€emergency lighting and outdoor (ambient l
ighting and street lighting). The application DIALux 4.2, has a manual translate
d into Spanish, which provides a fast and effective with it. 1.1.FUNCIONES. The
DIALux 4.2 has the following functions: Installation Guide.
1. Menu Online. 2. Install luminaire data. 3. Lighting DIALux. Working with
assistants. DIALux interface.

1. Output. 2. Import and export DXF and DWG. 2
3. STF interface. 4. Making videos. 5. Raytrace. 1.2.ENLACES. DIAL GmbH - Lich
t und Gebaeudetechnik Web page of the application Dialux 4.2, which offers free
application and where it shows how to acquire the manufacturers Plugins among th
ose found, Philips, Osram, Bega, Zumtobel Staff, etc.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1.PRESENTACIÓN. DIALux installation of 4.2 is relatively easy to make if you h
ave basic knowledge of Windows management. The first thing we recommend is to cl
ose all software applications are being used when necessary to make the installa
tion of DIALux 4.2 In light DIAL page building software that opens up 21entradas
are located in different languages. When clicking on the entry in Spanish, go t
o the next page where you can download the latest version of DIALux 4.2. Clickin
g on the Download link DIALux, go to the next page where it is reported that DIA
Lux 4.2 is compatible with a list of seven different operating systems. If we cl
ick on "current version", go down the application, if you click on Manuals, go d
own the manual for using the application in Spanish. When "current version" will
open a new window where you can select between DIALux version 4.2.0.4 or 4.2.0.
4 DIALux for network administrators. This second version, it works much better t
han the first. The application is 173 MB, so it usually takes a while to downloa
d, the order of half an hour (data transfer rate 103 Kb / sec.) The application
is compressed but has a routine that loads automatically on your computer hard d
rive in the Program Files directory in the folder DIALux. The DIALux 4.2 require
s that the version of Microsoft Internet Explorer greater than version 5.5 of th
is program. 2.2.MENU With this order is possible to review the most current vers
ions of the software and the catalogs of the manufacturers. To receive relevant
information on new applications and periodic updates is to send the email addres
s. In 6-8 weeks, refer reports. Also with the new version you can consult on iss
ues that may arise when using this (Wishes and Feedback). When the program crash
es, it is also possible to send a problem report, this allows developers DIALux,
devise appropriate measures to avoid a repeat of the malfunction of the program
. 2.3.DATOS To make the application work is necessary, therefore, load the compu
terized catalogs provided by the manufacturers who have joined the project DIALu
x. You can download the different catalogs through different procedures. One suc
h procedure is to go to the address www.Dial.de and enter the tree PlugIns / Cat
alogues. Performing relevant clicks open windows that show the links between eac
h manufacturer and probe these addresses can be found. 3
Once loaded the catalog (Plug - in) for it is sometimes necessary to close and r
eopen the DIALux 4.2 to the catalog starts to be operational. If, for example, w
e decided to load the catalog Lledó, we should select the input of the same bran
d and click on Download Plugin, an error message informs us that the best we can
do is go to the following website http://www .lledosa.es / eng / default.htm If
the page that opens, we click on Services and then click on the third paragraph
on Download Plug Ins,€we will have the opportunity to select among the group of
fluorescent lighting luminaries Odel - lux, or light and Design. Clicking on Od
el - lux on Download plug - we have the opportunity exists to save a file of 43.
2 Mb on the hard drive of your computer, with a transfer rate of 101 Kb / sec. i
t usually takes about 6 minutes. Once the download, the plugins installed on the
DIALux 4.2, responding to questions that are made in the installation. If we de
cide to use a light structure OD-2910 that uses two fluorescent lamps 35 W, clic
k on Use in DIALux, and we can use this program with the insertion order as indi
vidual fixture. 2.3.1. CATALOGS ON LINE. DIALux 4.2 provides the opportunity to
charge online catalog to work at every moment with a particular lamp and luminai
re. According to the manufacturer, you can select a particular type of lamp and
luminaire without the need to fully charge the entire catalog. With this option
On Line, all that loads is the link of the application with the manufacturer's d
atabase which provides information that is required. Once the information is loa
ded no need to close and reopen DIALux 4.2 to be able to use the fixture selecte
d. For example, if we perform a selection of lights in the DIALux 4.2 and in the
online catalog section, choose the manufacturer Bega, after clicking page appea
rs from this manufacturer. If we click on Produkte (product), there is a panel w
ith pictures of the lighting they produce, if you click on Dekenleuchten (diffus
e light) and then on Edesltahl (steel) and select for incandescent lamps (Glühla
mpen) 3118 model. If we click on details (detail), and finally on Drag & Drop, e
nd up loading the section used lights DIALux 4.2, Bega such luminary. As is emph
asized, with some manufacturers, this operation can be done smoothly, with other
s it is very difficult. There is no single protocol for all manufacturers. 2.4.I

scene of artificial light (artificial light set to 100% total). 4.4.INSPECTOR. T
he Inspector can examine the attributes of each selected object in CAD or view t
he project tree. Using the Inspector you can change the properties of the elemen
ts that are being used. The values that appear in the Inspector in gray can not
be modified.
5.€NEW PROJECT
When you make a click on the button "New" is entered in the realization of a new
project. On command "New", the project that was before is erased. When you open
a new project in the Name Inspector is determined and can provide a description
. In the tabs of "Project developed by", "Address", "Details" and "Location", ex
tends the previous information to be advised that project. The section on new pr
oject is developed through the tabs for: edition. Elements. Luminaires.
Scenes.
5.1.EDICIÓN. When you want to build a new facility must click on the "Insert new
store in The Guide" in the local editing can: Edit the geometry of a local. Edi
t data in one place. GEOMETRY OF LOCAL. Some of the orders of interest is "Editi
ng the geometry of a local." This order is accessed by clicking the right mouse
button to bring up a menu with the command "Develop local geometry," returning t
o do a right click of the mouse, the command "Insert point." If the Inspector is
given the order to "accept", the new point is included in the emerging local pl
ant two new walls. LOCAL DATA. When you mark a place on the project tree, you ca
n specify different properties of this using the Inspector. On the tab titled "M
ethod of maintenance plan, you can work on different ways to perform such mainte
nance. 20
PROPERTIES OF THE WALLS. Once you select a wall in 3D, this becomes red. When yo
u mark an object the properties of this object appears in the Inspector properti
es of that object. The Inspector of walls, provides information on: - The name.
- Field to change the material and degree of reflection. - Texture. - Options Ra
ytracer.
5.2.ELEMENTOS. DIALux 4.2, have the option to change local geometries for the in
corporation of new elements, such as sloped roofs, flat roofs, ramps, columns, e
tc.. To insert these elements have to open the Tree of furniture and then go to
"Elements of the environment." When the elements of the environment are shown in
the relevant window, they can be inserted into the CAD window, using drag & dro
p procedure. Using the mouse, you can scale and rotate the elements, once they a
re deposited in the CAD window. In DIALux 4.2, in the window CAD, possible to in
sert the following: rectangular columns. Round columns. Sl
oped roofs. Ramps. Beams. Scales. Vaults. Cross vaults. Half Dome. Domes. Sox do
mes.
FURNITURE INSERT. The insertion of furniture in the CAD window, is performed by
using Drag & Drop procedure. You can also create their own furniture by followin
g these steps: Place the item in the CAD window. Modify your geometry using
the Inspector. 21
You may also import files in SAT of furniture from other programs such as AutoCA
D using the sequence of "File", "Import", "Archives of furniture," down these In
ternet files. CORPS OF EXTRUSION. To create an extrusion body should go to the t
ree of furniture and using the procedure "drag and drop" to move the CAD window
the last element (body extrusion), which appears in the column of figures DIALux
standard 4.2. Once this operation, the geometry of notice in this way in the CA
D window, can be modified. This makes it possible in the body extrusion Define
any height of extrusion of the body. Turn the body. Combining volumes. Subtract
volumes. Assign colors and textures.
The subtraction of volumes is a useful tool to represent complex furniture. The
new furniture is designed with the extrusion of bodies can be stored in SAT file
s. Individual areas. To select an individual area, must go to the context menu a
nd click on "select this area," then in the Inspector you can change the charact
eristics of that surface. INSERTION OF TEXTURE. Textures can be inserted in the
local object of the project using the Drag & Drop procedure For instance, if you
want to insert a block factory texture on the board of a table, you must first
click on "select this area" by turning the board, after textures in the tree sel
ect "textures employed" to finish using the procedure Drag & Drop in the transfe
r of the texture of bricks. CLEAR TEXTURES.€Textures can be removed using the er
aser on the tree textures. When using the eraser the object returns to its origi
nal color.
22
IMPORTING TEXTURES. As stated above, you may add images or textures in the textu
re tree. DIALux 4.2, supports the format files, *. bmp, *. dib, *. jpg and *. gi
f. with the procedure already described. LOCAL DOUBLE. To duplicate a place must
go to the project tree, select the site and give the order to "Duplicate local"
in the context menu. To clear the local duplicate, perform the same operation b
y giving the command "Delete" in the context menu. 5.3.LUMINARIAS. To open the t
ree lights can go to the Guide for the order click on "Select fixtures." When th
is is done the tree lighting opens showing different sections. These paragraphs
are: - Bank of user data. - Catalogs Dialux. - Online catalogs. - Records of lum
inaires. - Latest fixtures used. OCCASIONAL LIGHTNING. In DIALux ray 4.2 can be
used to signal Auxiliary lamps. Xray Icon Auxiliary can be loaded into the main
program window using the command "File", then "Settings" and then "Custom toolba
rs and keyboards." In the window that appears is to click on "command" (order) a
nd then on "view", the procedure moves Drag & Drop icon Ray Auxiliary. The red l
ine indicates the Rays Auxiliary C0 plane direction and the yellow line indicate
s the angle of light radiation (Gamma = 0 º). DISTRIBUTION OF LIGHT. The order L
DC (Light distribution curve), to determine the correct placement of luminaires
with asymmetrical light distribution. INSERT FIELDS OF LUMINAIRES. Fields can be
placed in the guide lights selecting the command "Insert field of light." FILTE
RS. You can choose from the following filters from the left: - Allow or prevent
selection of lighting arrangements. - Allow or prevent the selection of individu
al fixtures belonging to a layout. - Allow or prevent selection of pairs of rota
ting lights. - Allow or prevent selection of furniture. - Allow or prevent the s
election of surfaces. - Allow or prevent selection of windows, doors and surface
s calculation. - Allow or prevent the selection of calculation points.
23
RAY ORIENTATION. To select an individual luminaire within a provision to activat
e the filter to "Allow or prevent selection of individual lights." Then the fixt
ure is selected, you spin and with the orders of LDC and Lightning Auxiliary ori
entation is checked with the light rays produced by this fixture. POSITION OF LU
MINAIRES. The luminaires can be selected to change its location in the applicati
on of DIALux 4.2. When displaying the sole of the project, you may select lights
and proceed to change its original position.
5.4.ESCENAS. To develop a project with lighting scenes and control groups must i
nsert a new place and accept the settings that appear in the Inspector with the
local editor. Then attach the fixtures you want to use in the project. SCENE OF
LIGHT. When you insert a field of lights, you must activate the "Allow individua
l selection of lighting, you can select fixtures. DIALux 4.2 provides the option
to add the provisions of lights to one or more control groups. Using the Insert
menu or Control Panel from the context menu icon of "New control group is selec
ted lighting fixtures can add to the various control groups using the Drag & Dro
p procedure. When performing this operation in the project tree control group ap
pears with a link to each fixture. When you delete a luminary, the name of the f
ixture also disappears from the control group. On the Insert menu you can insert
a scene of light in your project. A lighting scene can have one or more control
groups. The DIALux 4.2 has a new feature that allows a scene to give birth to t
he nature of the emergency lighting. In the tab "daylight factors" can activate
the box to "take into account when calculating daylight" and you can also check
the box labeled "Compute ratio of daylight."
24
ATTENUATION. In the Inspector Project Manager, when pressed on scene of light, t
he attenuation values tab, you can change the percentage of light output produce
d by each group of fixtures.€To appreciate the differences between two scenes of
light, it must obtain a local copy of that copy and proceed to change the perce
ntage of luminous flux emitted by different lights. In the example shown you can
see the effect that occurs when you reduce the percentage of luminous flux emit
ted by the luminaries of General System, while maintaining the percentage of lum
inous flux emitted by the lamps that make up the Local System. 5.5.OUTPUT. When
we follow the path "File", "Settings," Options "," General "and" Output "you can
set the format of the documents comprising Output. UNITS OF MEASURE. Clicking o
n the Global tab, the window where you can specify different units of measuremen
t. Data visualization. Much of the outputs of the project, show only after carry
ing out the calculation. PRINTING. A print preview allows you to see on the scre
en outputs that will be printed.
