Sligo Chamber Music Festival @SligoChamberMus
Taking place in St Columbas Church Drumcliffe and
The Model Sligo over the May bank holiday weekend,
Sligo International Chamber Music Festival is a highlight
in the annual calendar of music events. Under Artistic
Director Tim Vogler, the festival offers its loyal audience
and new visitors alike the opportunity to experience high
standards of programming through a fresh choice of
artists performing alongside our internationally acclaimed
ensemble-in-residence,the Vogler Quartet.
This year sees the return of festival guests Hugh Tinney
and IB Hausmann who performed at the very first Vogler
Spring Festival in 2000.
Following the success of our first youth programme last
year, we continue our collaboration with key partners
Music Generation Sligo and Sligo County Council to
present Tuned In! Our unique and innovative youth
programme is curated this year by Professor James
Cavanagh from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
We are delighted to announce a world premiere
performance at Midday on May Day 2017. Gerald Barrys
Midday, for two string quartets, was written in 2016 in
response to a co-commission by RT and Sligo County
Council and will be performed by The Vogler Quartet and
RT Contempo Quartet.
We look forward to welcoming you for the weekend!
