Port Forwarding with BSNL Broadband

MAKING MY OWN WEB SERVER


1. Windows-XP pro 2nd as OS
2. Internet Connection Configuration for BSNL
Broadband
Modem Type-B2 ADSL2 + PEC Model-AN1020-20

Internet
(A) MODEM CONFIGURATION
Use Internet Browser & type at web address http://192.168.1.1


User name : admin
Password : admin

Click On Configuration

Click On Internet Connection



Click on Edit pppoe_0_35

Click on Next
Click on Next
Click on Next

Internet Connection Configuration
Type Broadband User Name
Type Broadband Password
Press Next
Click on Apply .......................... Finish
NOW RUN INTERNET use Internet Browser & type at web address
http://www.google.co.in

(B) PORT FORWORDING (Use your PC


as a web server)
Click on Start
Click on RUN ....... type CMD Press Enter
c:\> type ipconfig/all ........ Press Enter

See IP Address of your PC
See IP Address Default Gateway
See IP Address of DNS Servers
Click on Start then click right mouse button on My Network Places
Then Click on Properties

Then Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)


Then Click on Properties

Fill values of IP address, Subnet mask, Default Gateway, DNS


Server as found above
Then Cleck OK
Now Check responce of your Network & Internet Connection
Use ping Command on prompt
Click on Start then Click On RUN

Type ping 192.168.1.1 -t


Type ping 192.168.1.100 -t
Use Internet Browser & type at web address http://192.168.1.1

User name : admin


Password : admin
Click on Security then click on Port Forwarding

Click on Add
Check & Type 1,2,3,4 as shown following

Click on Apply
Check your Entry
Click on Security then click on Vertual Server


Click on Forwarded to the DMZ host then click on IP address of DMZ
host
Type IP address of your PC 192.168.1.100
Click on Apply
Save & Close .......... Finish

(C) Installation Of IIS for making my


localhost
Insert Windows-XP Installer CD in your CD Drive

Click on Install optional Windows components
And install IIS (Internet Information Services) on your PC then

Select Internet Information Services { IIS }


Click on Next
After Installation IIS
Check your C Drive Root Directory you will see a folder name
inetpub
In the folder inetpub you will get another folder name wwwroot
Make a file on notepad & saves file name as index.htm
Now copy index.htm in the folder wwwroot (This folder is your
localhost)
Check is your localhost working well ?
Use Internet Explorer & type on address :- http://localhost/
Your index.htm file will open just like internet web page
Means your localhost is working OK
Now Check your index.htm file on Internet
Use Internet Explorer & type on address :-
http://www.whereismyip.com/ you will see your IP Address as
59.90.66.32
Now send this IP Address to you friend he will see your index.htm
Through internet by using Internet Explorer & type your IP
address
http://59.90.66.32
You can also check your IP Address is working or Not working
Using Internet Explorer & Open Port Check Tool
Type http://www.canyouseeme.org/
You will get the following web page
Type 80 as port in What port? box then click on Check

Check reply & Result of Open Port Check Tool


(a) Success means OK
Your PC localhost is working OK on Internet
Means your index.htm page is also working OK
Means your own web server is working OK
(b) Error: I could not see your service on 59.90.66.32 on port(80)
Reason: Connection refused or Time Out
means Windows Firewall is blocking to the Port
Important to see Open-a-port-in-Windows-Firewall

(D) Port Opening and Forwarding on


Windows XP
Open-a-port-in-Windows-Firewall
Click on Start
Click Right Mouse Button on Network Connection
Click on Property
Click Right Mouse Button on Internet Connection
Click on Property


Click on Advance
Click on Settings

Click on Exceptions
Tik Mark on HTTP, Remote Assistance & Window Explorer
Then Click on Add Port

Type Name HTTP


Type Port Numbur 80
Tick mark on TCP
Then Click OK
Finish

Again try to confirm the following operation


Using Internet Explorer & Open Port Check Tool
Type http://www.canyouseeme.org/
Type 80 as port in What port? box then click on Check
Finish
Note:- (a) The IP Address of your PC will be change every time when it will disconnected
from INTERNET Connection
or your PC reboot therefore it will be better to use Static IP Address other wise check your
IP Address frequently if
it is not working properly.
(b) Windows Firewall & Internet Explorer Block all Ports as safety of your PC . There fore
you have to enable port 80
manualy as shown above
(c) With Windows XP Professional, users can host one website and one FTP site on a
single computer.
To host multiple web or FTP sites on a single computer, consider upgrading to a server
product.
