Majority Coalition Refuses to Allow Senate Democrats Progressive

Budget Resolution
(Albany, NY) Today, the Senate Democratic Conference attempted to introduce a Budget
Resolution but were blocked by the Senate Majority Coalition composed of rogue Democrats
and the Republican Conference. Unlike the Republican and IDC Resolutions, the Senate
Democratic Conferences Resolution actually included language to Raise the Age, adequately
fund schools across New York State, a progressive and more fair tax code and the most
comprehensive ethics reforms to earn the public trust.

Its outrageous that while they are not allowing our budget, the Majority Coalition has offered
two budgets that do not reflect true New York or Democratic values. Senate Democratic
Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said. The rogue Democrats who gave Senate Republicans the
Majority this session have staked their entire basis for existence on the claim that they would be
able to pass progressive legislation. Both budget resolutions fall short of actually Raising the
Age, adequately funding our schools and addressing the affordable college crisis. The Senate
Democratic Conference has proposed a truly progressive budget that prioritizes working-class
New Yorkers.
