PERSONAL OPINIONS

PARENTS SHOULD Place importance ON CHILDRENS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

rather THAN SPORTS.
By :
How vital is sport for children to parents? Well to some they are extremely important.
But to others, theyre not. Well, in my opinion, I distinctly believe thats certainly not
true. Parents should emphasis on the well doing of their children in academic
compared to sports. Doing well in academic is certain yet immensely important
compared to sports. Why so?

Heres why. Firstly, sports dont necessarily guarantee good future. But academic does.
According to research done by Maynooth University (Ireland) in 2013, doing well in
sports does not guarantee any future. For instance, an injury may jeopardies the entire
future of a sports person. But on other hand, one with good academic background will
always have their slip/something to rely on in case any abominable happens. This
distinctly shows academic are much better in guaranteeing future compared to sports.

The next point, being academic helps to broaden ones perspective and the way they
think and look at something. Academic helps in expansion and enrich ones mind with
plethora of general knowledge, while sports dont help in expanding ones mind apart
from merely boosting ones stamina & social skills. For example, playing sports only
requires coordination skills, but studying make full use of ones mind.

Furthermore, academic helps in the process of maturing up of a person. It helps in

shaping the attitude of one. Emphasizing on ones self development and being
professional. In contrast, sports dont emphasis on both of these aspects. For instance,
studying helps to shape ones attitude and aptitude. While sports mostly focus on
merely on body coordinations.

Hitherto, being academically well, helps in assuring ones future apart from enriching
one with knowledge and shaping well & professional attitude are the pivotal and
distinct reason of me choosing academic achievements opposing to participation in
sports. Thus, parents should emphasis on the academic achievement of their children
instead of participation on sports.
