MUSIC KEY STAGE SCHEME OF WORK.

Curriculum overview Music KS3 Music overview Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms
of creativity. Music lessons will engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so
increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Students will work collaboratively to develop
Performance, Composing and Listening skills, with a focus on the elements of music throughout Years 7 8 and 9. Students
will develop teamwork and leadership skills within a creative environment becoming proficient using music technology to
create, record and edit their own musical compositions and performances. Students are given the opportunity to showcase
their work throughout the year. Students will explore three main themes throughout KS3 focusing on: World musical cultures,
Music and the Media and Popular music styles. They will be taught to:

Develop personal and transferable skills needed to be successful, no matter what they go on to do, such as confidence,
creativity, communication and team work.

Play and perform confidently in a range of solo and ensemble contexts using their voice, playing instruments fluently and
with accuracy and expression

Improvise and compose; and extend and develop musical ideas by drawing on a range of musical structures, styles, genres
and traditions Use relevant notations appropriately and accurately in a range of musical styles & genres

Listen with increasing discrimination to a wide range of music from great musicians and composers from around the world.
