FORMAL REPORT HRC DAY 1

AGENDA: THE QUESTION OF MIGRANTS AROUND THE WORLD

The world today is plunging into chaos and destruction. The major
powers playing politics instead of keeping humanitarian rights as
first priority. The first day starting with a discussion on the status of
the refugees.
USA opening up with the values they stand for and sticking to the
strict vetting procedure and unwillingness to accept refugees within
their homeland. India opening up to all refugees and helping them
out in any way, while Saudi makes a contradictory statement by
standing for humanitarian rights as opposed to their very subtle
Sharia law. Syria being mid crisis, probably the messiest crisis the
world has seen, had different opinions and suggested we have
solutions with long term goals and pleaded the other countries to
take in the Syrian refugees all around the world to help them have a
better future as opposed to no future in their war-torn nation.

Switzerland suggested a solution explaining how Brazil introduced

Humanitarian visa to the people from Haiti after the Hurricane
destruction. Belgium stating that a few refugees owe their alliance
to Islamic States brought up Brussels airport attack. The migration
crisis is being used as Trojan Horse by Islamic state to enter Europe
and other nations and hence a few delegates agreed on a strict
vetting procedure. International powers should work together to
stop the raging war and help with resettlement along with keeping
buffer zones for UN peacekeepers. With overseas oil interests of the
USA and proxy wars being waged, refugees are the collateral
damage.

A Moderated Caucus on repatriation and Illegal immigrants in

session,
Where the delegate of Tunisia proposed temporary citizenship until
they contribute to the economy in some way or the other. Georgia
brought up the crass issues of fleeing prosecution and violence and
proposed solve internal conflicts before repatriation.

Syria retaliated to bring to notice repatriation isnt the solution, and

Syria is a prime example. Switzerland mentions that the average
age of migrants is 38.4 years, which increases the working
population and old age dependency as well.
The delegation of Mexico voiced for an orderly repatriation, along
with welfare of minor and illegal migrants.
