Or,asCardinalAveryDullesexplains:

IncurrentCatholicusage,thetermdogmameans[a]adivinelyrevealedtruth,[b]proclaimedassuchbytheinfallibleteaching
authorityoftheChurch,andhencebindingonallthefaithfulwithoutexception,nowandforever.[TheSurvivalofDogma,153].

Thisisafairlynontechnicalwayofpresentingthestandardformulationofwhatadogmais,thoughwhenchurchmenandtheologians

AnotherExplanation
Thetermofartthatisusedtoexpresstheideaofadogmaisthatitisatruthwhichmustbebelievedwithdivineandcatholicfaith

Notethetwocriteria[a]and[b],whichidentifythepropositionsthatmustbebelievedwithdivineandcatholicfaith.Thesearethesame

WendasimilarformulationintheCodeofCanonLaw,whichprovides:

Theseareconvergingwaysofsayingthesamething.Butwhythetermdivineandcatholicfaith?
