You can connect the ONE in two ways to your amplifier/receiver:

Alternatively, you can use the built-in dual HD amplifiers and connect ONE directly to your passive

has an output of 2x 32W, so we recommend speakers that have at least 40W RMS.

Ethernet
The ONE can connect to your network via Gigabit Ethernet or WiFi. More about this in section 2,
Connecting to your network.

USB
The USB port currently supports backup, restore, update and recovery functionality.

Power
Please only use the original Olive power supply included with the ONE.

Service
Allows Olive to run detailed diagnostics without physically opening the unit.
Please do not connect any cables to this port.

Once all connections are established, touch the Power/Sleep button and the Olive ONE will boot
up.

For automatic connection via DHCP please touch the SETTINGS button and then select

Note: It might take a few seconds until your network appears in the network list. You can click the
refresh button to load the network list again.

If your ONE has a built-in HDD, you can transfer the music from your Mac or PC. There are two

Option 2: Using the IP address
How to configure presentation levels on your

1. On your ONE go to CONNECTIVTY > WIRED (or WIFI if you are connected
wirelessly). Or simply tap on the network status icon in the top left corner of Audio playback quality

2. Write down the IP address assigned to the ONE by your network.
3. On a PC press the WINDOWS + R keys on your keyboard.
On a Mac choose GO > CONNECT TO SERVER (from the main menu on
your desktop)
4. Enter "\\IP Address" (or "smb://IP ADRESS on a Mac) into to the pop-up
window (for example \\192.168.1.100)
5. Click OK (On a Mac please connect as a "Guest")

An import folder named "Olive Music" will appear on your desktop / network environment. Drag and
drop your complete music folder from your Mac/PC into the import folder and the transfer will
begin. A pop-up window on your desktop will indicate the estimated time for the transfer.

As soon as the music transfer has started, the ONE will start importing the transferred
music automatically into its local database. Once the import is complete your music will appear in
the ONEs local music library.
Useful Tips

We recommend using a wired Ethernet connection to transfer larger libraries.

Only supported audio formats (WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, Ogg Vorbis)
will be imported and show up in the ONEs local music library.
Music in WAV/AIFF format does not have metadata tags and will show up as Unknown
Artist/Album in the ONEs music library. We recommend converting WAV files to FLAC on
your Mac/PC before you transfer it.

Play Screen
UPnP Sources
To stream music from your Mac/PC/NAS, you need to share your music library using UPnP DLNA
software in your network. Your UPnP library will then appear in the Sources screen:

Once you have selected your library the Olive ONE will display the music information in the UPnP
library screen:

Due to the many different ways UPnP software packages provide information about a shared
music library, the Olive ONE provides a standardized view to ensure maximum compatibility. You
can choose to view up to three hierarchy levels of your music library.

Bluetooth Sources
The ONE can also access and play music from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone:

1) Select SOURCES from the Launch Bar and click on the Bluetooth icon (or go to
SETTINGS > CONNECTIVITY > BLUETOOTH).

2) Turn ON Bluetooth and wait until the status messages changes to Initialized.

3) Turn ON Bluetooth on your smartphone and select the ONE in the device list.
The connection is established when the status on the ONE changes to Connected.

4) Start music playback from your phone. The ONEs user interface will automatically change to the
play-screen and display the music currently playing. You can control playback (skip, pause/play,
volume) from the user interface of your phone or the ONE.

Internet Radio
The ONE comes with a hand-groomed internet radio service with stations from all around the
world. Our proprietary database allows you to conveniently arrange, browse and search stations
by combining key criteria such as country, genre, language, etc

Cant find your favorite station? The ability to add your own internet radio stations is currently in the
works and will be added shortly.

Note: Internet radio station links must be http or mms. Currently only radio stations that use the
MP3 formats are supported, not the Windows Media Format.

Simply tap on the column (metadata category) that you want to apply your search to, type in your
search term and press Search. The music library will dynamically update based on your search
term.

Editing Playlists
Keep your finger pressed on one of the tracks in the playlist and select Delete or Sort in the
pop-up to delete or rearrange the sequence of tracks.

Keep your finger pressed on the name of a playlist and select Delete or Rename in the pop-up
to delete or rename the playlist itself.

Notes
1) Playlists are stored locally on your ONE and can contain tracks from your local HDD
and/or UPnP sources.

You have the option to apply changes to the complete album. Track-specific metadata like
track title, track number, and rating will not be applied.
Select Part of compilation to make all tracks show up in a combined compilation folder,
and not as separate artists

Notes

Metadata can right now only be edited for music stored on your built-in HDD. We are looking
into adding metadata editing for supported UPnP software packages at a later point in time.
Metadata editing is not implemented in the current software, but will be provided in the next
test software update.

What can I do to improve the touchscreen
Connect your Olive ONE to your network (Wireless or Wired) and Bluetooth device. performance?

Wireless: The Olive ONE currently supports the following wireless network
encryptions: 802.11 B/G/N, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Wired: The current software version does not allow a manual setup of a wired connection.
Simply connect an Ethernet cable to your ONE and it will automatically choose the wired
connection on boot-up.

Bluetooth: The Olive ONE supports all smartphones with Bluetooth 2.1 (or higher) and that
employ the standard AVRCP protocol for audio streaming.

System

Update/Recovery
Install the latest software update via the internet or USB. Turn on AUTO UPDATE to make your
ONE automatically check for new updates. Installation will require manual approval.

A system recovery should only be performed in a case of serious system malfunction. It

will reinstall the operating system and delete all personal settings as well as favorites, ratings,
playlists, and internet radio stations. If you have a built-in HDD, recovery will also delete all stored
music.

Note: The USB stick needs to be formatted in FAT32 and have at least 1GB memory for the
recovery software package

Backup/Restore
If you have a built-in HDD, we recommend performing a backup to an external USB HDD regularly.
Simply plug in your USB HDD (with identical capacity to the built-in HDD) and START the backup.

Attention: The ONE will automatically format your USB HDD and delete all preexisting data.

Calibrate Screen
If the touchscreen does not work properly, we recommend performing a calibration. Simply follow
the on-screen instructions.

We recommend using a fine plastic stylus for the calibration. Do not use any item with a metal tip
as it might damage your LCD.

Default Settings
This will reset your Olive ONE to its factory settings. It will delete all personal settings (time, alarm
etc.), but will maintain your favorites, ratings, playlists, and internet radio stations.

Error Logging
If you have a consistent, replicable problem with your ONE, we recommend sending us an error
log:

1) Go to SETTINGS > SYSTEM > ERROR LOGGING and turn ON error logging
2) Execute the same operations that lead to the problem, until you can replicate it.
3) Turn OFF error logging
4) Upload the error log to a USB stick and attach it to your support request.

If you are connected to the internet you can also upload the error log directly to the Olive server.
Note: Always turn OFF error logging if you do not need it anymore as it requires system resources
and might slow down your ONE.

Preferences

Language
The user interface is currently available in English. Additional languages are in the works.

Time
You can either set your time manually or use the Network Time Protocol (NTP) to set your time
automatically.

Power & Sleep

Set the POWER SAVER TIMER to determine when your Olive ONE should go into power
saving mode after being idle (i.e. no music playback or user interface interactions). The ONE
will turn off all key services and major power consuming peripherals (e.g. LCD). If you have
a built-in HDD, the Olive ONE will continue to provide its music server capabilities. The HDD
will not shut down completely and basic networking capabilities will remain active.

The SLEEP TIMER defines when your ONE goes into sleep mode, even if music is being
played back. One example would be to set your ONE to play music for 30 minutes before
you go to bed. Sleep and Power Saving mode are identical with regard to
power consumption.

Note: A single tap the on the Power/Sleep button will put your Olive ONE into power saving mode.

Alarm
The Olive ONE can act as your alarm clock. You can set a start and end time and a playlist to wake
up to. If your playlist links to a UPnP library and network connectivity is unavailable, the Olive ONE
will play a standard alarm tone.

About

Your Library
Provides information about the size of your music library, number of tracks, albums, artists etc. (for
local music library on built-in HDD only).

Your System
Displays key information about your Olive ONE such as software version, firmware, serial number
etc.

Running Services
Shows all services and operations that are currently running in the background (e.g. music import,
software update download, system check etc.)
