Matlab for Students (Windows Version)

Starting 2015, students of Tilburg University now have access to Matlab for use on private hardware.
Students are allowed to install Matlab on one PC (Mac/Windows/Linux). This manual first describes how
to sign up for a Matlab account and then how to download and install Matlab. Please note that an
active Internet connection is required to download and install Matlab.

Registering for a Matlab Account

Go to https://www.mathworks.com/mwaccount/register and insert your e-mail address, making sure
that it ends with @uvt.nl. All other settings can be seen in the screenshot below. After you have filled in
all the required fields click Create.

After you created the account you need to add some additional information. Also, for you the
school/university field, please fill in Tilburg University. Lastly, use 45328-81391-85782-15668-29878 as
the license number:

After you press Create you should see an overview of all the software you have access to. In order to
download Matlab (and all the additional components) click Download Products.

Select your operating system. This manuals assumes that you are using Windows. After you select your
operating system Matlab will start downloading. After Matlab has finished downloading you can open
the file by double clicking on it.

Installing Matlab
This will start the Matlab installer. For installation method select Log in with MathWorks account and
click next.

After reading and accepting the License Agreement select Yes and then Next.

Now you can login with the account and password you created earlier. Provide your credentials and click
next.

You should now see the license you added on the MathWorks website. Make sure that the license is
highlighted and click Next.

Next, Matlab will prompt you for an installation folder. Unless you have a reason to install Matlab into a
different directory, accept the default and press Next.

Now you can select the components you wish to install. You are free to highlight and install all of them.
Click Next.

If you want Matlab to add a shortcut to your Desktop select Desktop. Otherwise, just keep the default
settings and click Next.

Matlab will ask for confirmation and after you click Next will start installing Matlab.

The installation process might take up to an hour or more depending on the speed of your Internet
connection and PC/Laptop.

After Matlab is done installing, you need to activate it. Make sure Activate MATLAB is highlighted and
click next.

Click Next again.

Make sure that you use your Windows login name (more often than not you will want to accept the
default) and click Next.

If all went well, you should now see Activation is complete. You can click finish and open Matlab the
way you would open any other program.
