Course Description
In this course you will learn to read texts critically and write meaningful and effective
analyses of complex ideas.

Course Objectives
Develop active critical reading skills to apply to complex texts
Formulate and articulate original arguments and ideas based on a variety of non-
fiction texts
Communicate ideas meaningfully and effectively in writing
Required Text
New Humanities Reader, 6th Ed. (2016)

Course Requirements
Baseline technical skills necessary for online courses

Basic computer and web-browsing skills


Navigating Sakai LMS

Required Equipment

Computer: current Mac (OS X) or PC (Windows 7 or newer) with high-speed


internet connection

Late work will not be accepted except in the case of extreme extenuating circumstances.

Academic Honesty

Develop and write all of your own assignments.

citations whether you are paraphrasing authors or quoting them directly. Be sure
