This report is the first describing the in-service, "6 days ICT in Education

and Basic Computer Teacher's Training" for Basic Level teacher and Key
Teacher, in different two cluster Basa and Sotang of Solukhumbu district
conducted by Australian Himalayan Foundation and REED Nepal. The
programme involved 6 days ICT in education and Basic Computer Teacher's
Training for the Basic level teachers of Solukhumbu districts. The ICT and
Basic computer training course was attended by 46 participants of Base and
Sotang Cluster.

This is the first six days ICT in education training organized for Basic Level
teachers in Solukhumbu by REED Nepal. It's like a resume of the Basic Level
six days ICT in education and basic computer training conducted by AHF at
first time. All the teachers attended this six days training in two venue
Basakhali SS, Basa and Birendrajyoti SS, Sotang. According to course
evaluation (Appendix-II) the overall training of the ICT in Education and Basic
Computer Training was 47.83% Excellent, 43.48% Good and 8.70% Ok and
whole package of ICT in education and Basic Computer was 46.03%
excellent, 39.04% was good and 14.93% was Ok. Before the training they
had not any idea about the concept of ICT in Education and Basic Computer
training and after the training they had built up confident for use of ICT in
Education, which helps to make interactive lesson plan and Google search.
According to need of the teacher demand they will you use HTML and DOS
practical work in their computer classroom. They were actively participated
daily 9 AM to 4.15 PM i.e. 40 hours within 6 days with 25% theory and 75%
practical. According to the needs of the teachers, the training objectives
were focused on their basic need and ICT in Education and Basic Computer.
And also some of the other aspects of teachers' problems in office package
were also addressed.

There were two cluster Basa and Sotang in the projected area of Australian
Himalayan Foundation in Solukhumbu. The ICT in Education and Basic
computer contents of the training were very helpful and greatly supported
the participants to be more competent and confident to complete their roles
and responsibilities in ICT in Education and Basic Computer. The major part
of the 6 days ICT in Education and Basic computer training was directly
helpful for the new generation teacher. The course helps to improve
professional development for the new generation teacher to use ICT in
education and basic computer knowledge.

This six days basic level ICT in education and Basic Computer training was
very good and had a lot of positive results and respect. Though the training
result several outcomes, some challenges were found to address in the days
to come in ICT education in teacher and student. The level and competency
of some teachers were selected for this training and they would be helped in
their school's teacher and then teacher will give the concept and uses of the
ICT in education and Basic Computer training. There were a lot of needs of
the teachers; therefore, it was difficult to address all the needs for all
teachers in computer education. All the teachers attended the training for
the first time in ICT in Education and Basic Computer Teacher's Training;
therefore, the practical approaches of interactive teaching learning and uses
activities eg. Interactive teaching method by using Microsoft PowerPoint,
Quiz making, Answer checking by using Microsoft excel and simple game
making were again new for them, although, they seemed active and
enthusiastic to learn ICT in Education and Basic Computer Training.
Moreover, video clips preparation, downloading some books from the web
site and uses of android application are more advantages for the
participants.

It is learned that full preparation and practical for pre-design package of


NCED and according to their need base of 6 days computer training more
effective as the trainers have the access of more resources and time. It is
also learned that the training is more challenging in terms of basic use of
computer. The other aspects of ICT use in education is very important for the
coming year. It was now only focus on thinking on "how ICT use in teacher
continues professional development", which is also mentioned in SSDP of
Nepal government.

The Australian Himalayan Foundation funds the ICT in Education and Basic
Computer training programme in Solukhumbu and the Rural Education and
Environment Development Center (REED-Nepal) implements, monitors and
supports with the close coordination of District Education Office and the
District Development Committee.
