Dozens of Heroes Gave Blood at Fox43 Drive

The Fox43 blood drive collected 89 units of blood to save local lives
YORK, Pa. (March 28, 2017) The Red Cross partnered with Fox43 to host a very successful
blood drive on March 23, 2017, at the York Jewish Community Center.
The drive started at 10 a.m. and ended by 5 p.m. Thanks to Fox43, the community support and
participation was enormous.
Giving back and serving our community is what its all about and we at Fox43 are all about. We
welcome the opportunity to partner with the Red Cross to help with the mission of helping to
save lives, said Christopher Garrett,
Special Events Coordinator at Fox43.
The Fox43 drive with the Red Cross
collected 89 units of blood. A single
donation of a pint of blood can potentially
save as many as three lives, which
means the Fox43 team who sponsored
this drive and the donors who
generously gave could save as many as
267 lives!

The Fox43 team socialized and posed for photos with donors on March 23 at
the York Jewish Community Center.
We are so pleased with how many people came to
donate blood, and with how smoothly everything went,
said Bonnie Rill of the Red Cross.
Donors had almost no wait times to give blood inside
the community center or outside on the Red Cross
blood mobile. Fox43 anchors, producers, and
management were on site to meet donors and even
donate blood themselves. After giving blood, donors
were rewarded with snacks, Dunkin Donuts gift cards,
and gifts from the Fox43 team.

This is activism at its best, said Regina Boothe

Bratton, External Communications Manager at the Red
Cross. Blood donation is so important. Something that Fox43 anchor Evan Forrester gave blood on the Red Cross bus
seems so simple can save multiple lives. before heading inside to meet the locals who came out to
support a worthy cause.
Eligible donors who are type O negative were
encouraged to donate as well as donors with type AB blood were urged to donate plasma; as
there is a critical need right now for those universal blood products, Boothe Bratton added.
The York, Pennsylvania community answered the call! We are so thankful for the generous
donors and volunteers the heroes - who make our lifesaving work possible.
Eligible donors are urged to partner with the American Red Cross. Make an appointment to
donate at http://www.redcrossblood.org. Enter your zip code and find a drive or donation center
near you. Again, a single donation could save more than one life. If you cannot donate blood,
join us and become a volunteer at http://www.redcrossblood.org/volunteer. The Red Cross
could not fulfill its lifesaving mission without its generous donors and volunteers.
