Martin Luther King Jr.


Now we all know Martin Luther King Jr. from his speech I Have a

Dream, but did you know that Martin Luther King Jr. attended college at

15. He was also arrested 29 times for acts of civil disobedience and once

for driving 30 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone. Martin Luther

King Jr. made a huge impact on the civil rights movement because he was

strong willed and not willing to back down.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a great leader in the civil rights movement.

He was also a minister, a Baptist, and he was the first president of the

Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Martin had many

accomplishments including Winning the Nobel Peace Prize. He lead the

Montgomery boycott, he also nonviolently boycotted the Memphis

sanitation worker strike. These are just three of his many accomplishments.

Martin Luther King Jr. against all odds got more rights for African

Americans. Martin did this by boycotting, petitioning, protesting, marching,


and many more. He also did this all nonviolently because he did not believe in

violence.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born in January, 15th, 1929. Than in 1955

Martin led the Montgomery bus boycott. After that in 1963 he led over

200,000 people to the Lincoln memorial. Next he led the Birmingham

campaign in 1963. Finally, he was assassinated in April, 4th, 1963.

All in All, Martin Luther King Jr. believed that black and white people

would have equal rights and he was willing to fight for that and he wouldn't

give up. Many people today remember Martin Luther King Jr. as a man who

changed the civil rights movement and helped remind our country of the

equality we should have. Martin was a hero in a way and he will be greatly

remembered.
