Ideas for how the tool English 5.1 The student will listen, draw conclusions, and share responses in
can be used in PK-12 subject-related group learning activities.
a) Participate in and contribute to discussions across content areas.
b) Organize information to present in reports of group activities.
c) Summarize information gathered in group activities.
d) Communicate new ideas to others.
e) Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

In evenly distributed groups, fifth graders will create a popplet on a given topic. Each group
must create a bubble map, with the topic being in the center and other related ideas
connected to it. They also could create an outline using the popplets by connecting them
vertically or putting them in vertical order. The outline could consist of an intro., main idea
etc. Prior to this activity, all students will have created a popplet account. The teacher will
assign a student from each group to create a popplet page. That student will then add his or
group members by clicking on add collaborator, and typing in each group member name.
To join the group, group members must accept the invite.
USII.1 The student will demonstrate skills for historical and geographical analysis
and responsible citizenship, including the ability to
c) sequence events in United States history from 1865 to the present;

Group students and give each group a time period in which they must collaboratively create
a timeline.

K.6 The student will investigate and understand the differences between living
organisms and nonliving objects. Key concepts include a) all things can be
classified as living or nonliving;
A teacher of a kindergartner class could create a nonliving vs living popplet. One popplet
would be titled nonliving and the other titled living. Students would create their own
popplet underneath each category and type their response.
Positives and Positives- 1) Easy to use, especially for younger elementary students. 2) After you finish
challenges of using creating a popplet page, you can print it out just by clicking the settings icon located at the

the tool top of the page. 3) You can hide the name tags, which is good for students who feel unsure
about their response. 4) You can present the popplet as a presentation by using the
presentation tool, which lets you prerecord the order of how you would like to present the
popplets. 5) Popplet is available on the web. Negatives-1) Can only make 10 free popplet
pages. Cost $3 a month ($30 a year) if you want unlimited popplet pages and there is a cost
per student 2) May seem a little simplistic for high school children. 3) You must have an e-
mail address, which is something most k-5 may not have. 4) The app is only available in
iTunes.
