We are writing to inform you about the problems that are happening in France, more
specifically the pollution in France.
Firstly, environmental issue is one of the most important issues in France, the principal
factor that develops this problem is the contamination by all the gases which, produce by
cars, diesel and industries; a study carried out in 2008 by Health Impacts of Air Pollution in
France: new data and perspectives, tells us that the air has fine particles that make the
diesel to become a very injurious fuel; therefore, this is too harmful for everybody. It is the
third reason of deaths in France. This environmental issue happens in big cities, but also in
less urbanized parts of France.

One of the main causes is the emission of greenhouse gases, and the dumping of
industrial wastes that are not regulated properly, including trash such as plastics and
disposable. The estimated number of persons killed per year is 48000 due to this cause,
per a study carried out by the French Public Health Agency published in June 2016. The
senators have assessed that this ecological impact affects in an amount of 4 million
directly in agricultural production, biodiversity, soil quality, etc.
The Airparif, which is a non-profit organization accredited by the Ministry of Environment to
monitor the air quality in Paris and in France, estimates that the crops in the region of
Paris have been a 10% lower in the past 15 years compared to not having this type of
contamination. The estimated bill of air pollution is in a fork of between 68,000 and 97,000
million euros.

We know that some preventive measures have been implemented in the capital since
pollution levels increased at the end of 2014. Even the capital came to have the most
polluted air in the world in the month of March 2015. The government and the Ministry of
Ecology stopped the circulation of motor vehicles for a day and offered free public
transport temporarily. Since then, it has been tried to improve air quality by promoting the
use of bicycles and electric cars, to establish traffic regulations and programs to classify
each car per its antiquity and degree of emissions, in addition to prohibition of plastic bags
and disposable utensils to replace them with utensils that come from biological sources.

Some of those actions have turned out great, but not enough. Thats why we would like to
suggest a measure that could have the greatest impact to counteract this problem.

The main cause of this problem, as we already mentioned, is the emission of gases from
car. In addition to the measures already taken to promote the use of bicycles, public
transport and regulate the use of the automobile, we propose creating a filter to capture
the harmful substances that pollute the air in the exhaust pipe of the vehicle. With this it
would reduce pollution and avoid to mix that fine particles of the air.

To support this idea, people will be encouraged to contribute with the reduction of pollution
placing this filter free of charge for older vehicles and economically for recent models.
