Argumentative Research question: Does the censorship of the internet

negatively affects the lives of the public masses?

Thesis: Yes,the censorship of the internet negatively affects the live of the
public masses as it has a high cost of development, works against creativity and
compromises the freedom of speech

Argument 1: High cost of development

-Implementing a censorship system takes time and resources

-To properly censor material a program would slow the speeds of

whatever internet it is on.

-Extra ISP infrastructure needed to meet the burden of filtering will drive
up the cost of internet service bill.

Argument 2: Works against creativity

-Withholding of information only leads to ignorance in the society

-It prevents the free flow of ideas

-It may be used to block legitimate criticism

-Limits educational resources

Opposing Argument : = Protects privacy of people

-Censorship can be useful to protect children from harmful or unwanted

materials that could jeopardize their healthy development.

1
-Censorship can sometimes ensure personal privacy is maintained, for example,
when an individual becomes the focus of unwanted public attention and enters
the media.

Refutation

In some cases, this might be true, but this problem can be overcome

by claiming that it :-

->Compromises freedom of speech

-It encroaches upon the freedom of the press

-Political parties around the world use media censorship for their own
benefit. It stifles the opposition, broadcasting only a particular point of
view.

-People have a right to know

masses because of :-

-High cost of development

-Works against creativity
-Compromising the freedom of speech
