Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other website-
creation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will

Brief Description of Learning Experience: Students will create a blog as a class. Each group will need to
research a different way humans negatively impact the environment. They will then need to create a blog
page outlining this impact. The need to have at least one title page and two sub-pages including real-life
examples of this human impact and how it impacts certain ecosystems of organisms and one that proposes a
way to fix this problem.

Students will then use the blog to create a report on human impact. They will write a three paragraph essay
summarizing another groups topic. This way students can understand what a hug impact they have on their
environment. This project could then, if the teacher wanted, to turn into a furthered project in conservation.

Importance of technology: Website creation is a great tool to use because this is where education is
headed. The students need to be familiar with creating a website and how to put information out for the
world to see. Students will get used to giving out information to others through technology.

Inspiration (optional): This was an original project idea.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Students must receive a permission slip and get it signed by their
parents in order to publish this website. Some students may try to include personal information on their
page, and this should be an anonymous project. If students do not receive permission for their work to be
published, they will need to do an alternative assignment.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity: I am trying to teach the students collaboration.
Through this activity they will learn how to work together to create something bigger than they could have
done on their own.
