Avram, M. G. "Advantages and Challenges of Adopting Cloud Computing from an Enterprise

Perspective." Procedia technology 12 (2014): 529. Print. This paper breaks down from a

company perspective how to effectively make an informed decision on whether to use cloud

computing. I will mainly utilize this paper to get some advantages and disadvantages of a

cloud computing infrastructure from both a business and technology perspective. I can use it

to compare these pros and cons with those of on-premises computing. The strength of this

source is going into strict detail and using the perspective of a company. The limitation is a

slight bias towards cloud computing being effective. This relates to other sources because it

will help me provide advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing while comparing it

to on-premises.

Beaty, Donald L. "Cloud Computing 101." Ashrae Journal 55.10 (2013): 88-93. Print. This

source focuses on describing what cloud computing is, as well as going in depth into the

various models and aspects of different cloud-computing systems. It describes everything is

simple to understand terms. I will use this source to mainly introduce what cloud computing

is, how it differs from on-premises systems. The strength of this source is explaining the

cloud technology is simple to interpret terms, I will not have to do excessive simplifying.

The limitation of this source is that is goes into too much detail about the different types of

cloud-computing models which isnt very useful information to the purpose of this research

paper. This relates to my other source that I will use to build the readers idea of what I

mean when I refer to cloud-computing.

Fernandes, Diego A. B., et al. "Security Issues in Cloud Environments: A Survey." International

Journal of Information Security 13.2 (2014): 113-70. Print. This source evaluates current

literature on security concerns of cloud technology. It uses this information to synthesize all

the different security issues that cloud-computing introduces. I will use the security

problems described in this source to discuss the disadvantages of cloud-computing which

are where on-premises deployments are advantageous. The strength of this source is how it

takes a focus on the security perspective of cloud-computing. The limitation of this source

is that it seems a bit biased against cloud-computing because it is so focused on the

problems with cloud technology. This relates to other sources because it will also be

instrumental in helping me build a solid comparison between the two types of

infrastructures.

Kranz, Johann J., Andre Hanelt, Lutz M. Kolbe. "Understanding the Influence of Absorptive

Capacity and Ambidexterity on the Process of Business Model Change - the Case of on-

Premise and Cloud-Computing Software." Information Systems Journal 26.5 (2016): 477-

517. Print. This sources uses information from case studies on six vendors to explain how

they had to adapt their business models due to the disruptive innovation of cloud-computing.

It discusses how adapting this cloud technology requires significant change in business

model. I will use this source to discuss an advantage of on-premises computing which is

adhering to traditional business models instead of adapting new business models. The

strength of this source if examining business implications of the two infrastructures where

its limitation is not explicitly focusing on advantages or disadvantages of either type of

system. This relates to other sources that I will use to compare the two types of technology

because it provides an advantage of on-premises computing.

Lin, Angela. "Cloud Computing as an Innovation: Perception, Attitude, and Adoption."

International journal of information management 32.6 (1 Dec. 2012): 533. Print. This

source gives information from a study on how Information Technology professionals

perceive the adoption of cloud computing in many companies in Taiwan. The study found

that despite possible benefits, they will not adopt it due to problems with their company

policy, development environment, business needs. The findings suggest adoption may

increase as unpredictable aspects of cloud computing reduce and there are more successful

business models. This source will allow me to discuss the possible benefits of cloud

computing as well as look at some disadvantages from the perspective of IT professionals.

The strength of this source is that it is a scientific study obtaining the perspective from IT

professionals. The limitation is geographic, it only surveys professionals in Taiwan. Relating

to other sources, this will help me develop advantages and disadvantages of cloud-

computing. Disadvantages become advantages of on-premises computing.

Nwobodo, Ikechukwu. "Cloud Computing: Models, Services, Utility, Advantages, Security

Issues, and Prototype." Wireless Communications, Networking and Applications

Proceedings of WCNA 2014.Springer India, 1 Jan. 2016. 1207. Print. This paper gives a lot

of background information on the different aspects of cloud computing, including a bit of

history about it. It also discusses advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing. I will

use this source to give background on cloud computing. It has information that is useful to

begin introducing what cloud computing is and what its history is perhaps. When I use

information from this source I will begin describing what cloud computing is compared to

on premises infrastructures. The strength of this source is that it is one of the few sources

that gives background information before discussing cloud-computing. The limitation is it

gives information very technically. This means I must simplify the information it gives. This

relates to other sources because I will use with another source to introduce what cloud-

computing is, and I will use it in comparing the two types of infrastructure.
