Self-Assessment Notes
Proficient I consider myself professional and am
prompt and punctual. I tend to use less professional
language with students and am still figuring out how to
position myself in relation to them as we are so close in
age.
Proficient There are a lot of areas in this section that I
think I am still developing on, but at a point fitting for
me before going into student teaching. I consider
myself resourceful and I put in quality work, but I'm still
building my "tool-kit" and learning more ways to be
creative with instruction and teaching in general. I
would have liked to advocate for myself more this
semester and I will continue to work on that in student
teaching to take responsibility for my own learning.
Proficient These dispositions are aligned with how I try
to approach life. I always try to have an open mind and
interact with tact, but I appreciate it when someone
calls me out if I don't realize I'm not being open minded
or sensitive to others' perspectives.
Proficient I try my best to act ethically and with
integrity. I should probably model more professionalism
with students.
Developing I love collaboration and am willing to
accept constructive criticism and others ideas, but I am
still figuring out how to best collaborate with colleagues
given my personality. I tend to take a leadership role in
teams and, while I try to be as open-minded as possible,
sometimes I have a hard time accepting other ideas
when they don't make sense to me or don't seem
efficient. I also tend to look grumpy when I'm thinking
and I think this throws people off after they've shared
an idea and I'm trying to fit it into my
conceptualizations of whatever we are planning. I really
want to work on this more because I really see the value
of collaboration.

Proficient I consider myself a strong writer and an
effective communicator. Although I'm an introvert, I
tend to share my ideas in groups a lot and I am working
on remaining quiet and listening to my peers more.
Accomplished I really care about my development as a
teacher because it's the kids who are being impacted by
my performance. They deserve the best. I always want
my lessons and interactions with the kids to be the best
they can in terms of engagement, relationship-building,
and their educational outcomes. I'm still learning how to
be creative and use my resources to do that.
Developing I strongly believe in all these dispositions
but I am still learning how to demonstrate them in my
classroom. I've noticed that it is really easy to make
connections with some students and I would like to work
on being more aware of those students who I don't
connect with as well and consciously putting effort into
those relationships. I am also always learning about how
my behaviors and words affect those around me and
while I try to be conscious of it, I don't always know, and
appreciate being called out for things.
Proficient I think I am accomplished in terms of my
passion and commitment to learning and teaching, but I
am still learning how to model democratic ideals and
learning about the ins-and-outs of the profession so I
would rate myself as proficient here.
