Founded in the Spring of 2015
2. Purpose: The literary arts association of graduate and undergraduate students is a cultural leadership
organization which promotes leadership in literature and the arts amongst graduate and undergraduate
students in the Spanish and Comparative and World Literature Programs of San Francisco State
University. We promote: (1) The Annual Iberian-American Colloquium on Literature, Arts, Politics, and
Civilization (2) The production and distribution of SFSU literary magazine Canto (3) The creation and
celebration of authors and literature in the arts within the university in collaboration with the Latin
American community at large (4) The formation of leaders for both the Spanish and Comparative and
World Literature Programs at SFSU Our golden goal is to involve all graduate and undergraduate
students in the creation, promotion, and celebration of literature, art, politics, and civilization in
association with cultural events at the local, regional, national, and international levels. 3. Membership:
ALL GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF SFSU WHO INTERESTED IN CULTURAL LEADERSHIP

4. Governing Structure/Officers: The CSU and SF State require each organization to have at least a
president/chair and a financial officer/treasurer. These two positions cannot be held by the same

ENSURES COMPLIANCE SECRETARY: MINUTES OF ALL MEETINGS TREASURER: BUDGET AND BANKING
HISTORIAN; RECORDS VIA VIDEO, PHOTOS, SOCIAL MEDIA THE EVENTS OF THE ORGANIZATION
ADVISORS; ADVISE AND HELP WITH THE ACTUAL EVENTS VENUES AND OUTREACH OF THE
ORGANIZATION 7. Appointments/Election of Officers: OFFICERS ARE ELECTED BY SIMPLE MAJORITY
VOTE TO ONE YEAR TERMS EACH SEPTEMBER OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 8. THE ACADEMIC ADVISOR
APPROVES THE PROPOSED SLATE OF OFFICERS AND THEN THE MEMBERS VOTE- A SIMPLE MAJORITY OF
APPROVED SLATE OF OFFICERS IS REQUIRED FOR OFFICIAL
