AWARD FOR SPONSORSHIP PRESENTED
Debbie Hickey, owner of Ossekeag Publishing in Hampton was
recently presented with a Sponsorship Plaque by Sherry Dumont of the
Canadian Cancer Society of New Brunswick. Ossekeag Publishing
We're glad
was recognized as the official Media Print sponsor for the Saint
John/KV and Hampton Relays for Life which were held in June. 820 You asked!
Brock Reid

SHOULD I BRING MY CHILD TO THE FUNERAL?

Just as with adults, children need to express their feelings of grief.
To deny your children this emotional outlet is to handicap their
natural, maturing development. Children can cope with death better
than you 'may expect.

A child's emotional resiliency is truly remarkable and often under-

rated. With adequate preparation, a child may attend the funeral
and will be ail the better for it. But the child must be told what to
expect at the funeral. If he or she understands what is happening,
there's a better feeling during and after the ceremonies.

Do not force the child to attend, though. If the youngster often

tends to be highly emotional, keep him or her home and have them
join the family later. Each child may react differently, but if you
anticipate any problems, feel free to discuss this with us fully at your
convenience.

Not a day do we forget you Wally,
In our hearts you are always near.
All we have are precious memories,

Perhaps it was just as well;
We never could have said goodbye,
To someone we loved so well.

Musings WE PROTECT, YOU SAVE ...

By Debbie Hickey
TEN YEARS!
Can it really be ten years since Mike and I
started Ossekeag Publishing? Our very first
headline was "Yikes! How did we get here?" and I am still shaking
my head trying to figure out how it happened. I have often expressed
the view that had I any idea of the complexity of what I was getting
into I would never have had the courage to take on such a task. A
clear case of ignorance being bliss! There is a cool Mark Twain
quote that may apply here: "All you need in this life is ignorance and
confidence, and then success is sure." In my case, I would say the
confidence came from the ignorance. At any rate, any mistakes
have not been fatal and here we are ten years later, still growing and
still learning.
