Rationale I chose to use my accounting exam because it
shows that I can do what is required. I know the
accounting principles and procedures, accounts
payable vs accounts receivable, and I can
understand basic financial statements.
Knowledge I have learned a lot throughout this year that
helped me prepare for this exam. If I had taken
this exam before I took this class then I would
have never been able to fill it out. I had to put all
of the knowledge together. We learned how to do
each section separately but had never done it all
together. I found out that I knew all of the things
in the packet and that I could put them together if I
put my mind to it.
Skills While taking my exam I had to use many different
skills. I had to be able to fill out a journal based
off of a narrative of transactions. I had to be able
to fill out bank reconciliation form, post-closing
trial balance form, income statement form, balance
sheet form, and a worksheet. To finish this exam
and get a good grade I had to be able to think like
an accountant.
Growth and Improvement If I was going to do this exam again I would
Statement change a few things. When I took my exam I did a
lot at once sometimes and I would get frustrated.
Next time I would try to do it in smaller chunks
and if I got frustrated or discouraged then I would
take a break and come back to it later. I am very
proud of all of the time and effort that I put into
this project. When I first looked at the packet I
was overwhelmed and did not think that, I would
be able to do it but once I started I knew that I
could do it.
