GoodAfternoon,

WelcomeagaintotheK5SummerAcademyatConteWestHills!JillianandIarelookingforwardtoworkingwithyou
andthekidsthissummerandwantedtoshareafewimportantitemswithyouthatwillhelptomakeourtransitioninto
thestartoftheprogramasmoothone.Weappreciateyourcommitmenttotheprofessionandvalueyourflexibilityaswe
worktogethertoensurethesafety,successandachievementofourstudents.

ClassroomSetUp:Wednesday,June29thfrom8:00am2:00pm.Keepinmindthatourprogramisconsideredan
extensionoftheschoolyearandourroomsneedtofeellikeaclassroom.Buslists,dailyschedules,andclassroom
rulesneedtobeclearlyvisibleintheroom.Aswegetfurtherintotheprogram,displayingstudentworkishighly
encouragedandwillbeexpectedforourOpenHouse.

Supplies:Supplieswerepickeduptodayandtheyarelimited.TheywillbedistributedonFridaybyourstudent
workers.Thereissomechartpaper,pencils,crayons,markers,paperclips,gluesticks,copypaper,constructionpaper,
tapeandotherbasics.Wehavewritingpaper,butnoboundstudentjournals.

DailySchedules:Ourtentativeschedulesareattached.BecausewearesharingContewithseveralprogramsthisyear
allofourstudentswilleatbreakfast/lunchinthecafeteriaatthesametime.Alsoattachedareproceduresfor
arrival/breakfast,lunchanddismissal.Youwillnoticetransitiontimesarenotallottedintheschedule.We'llhavetowork
togethertodothebestwithwhatwe'vegot!

NewRegistrations:Thiswilltakeplaceatthemainentranceofthebuilding.Parentswillbeexpectedtoenterthrough
thefrontdoorstoregisternewstudents.Onceregistered,newstudentswillbeescortedtoclassroomsbyanadult.They
willdeliveraregistrationformtoyou.Besuretoaddthemtoyourownclassrostersandbuslists.Newregisterswillbe
addedtoattendancesheetsthefollowingschoolday.

SPED:Studentsreceivingspecialeducationservicesaredenotedwithanasterisk(*)onyourclassrosters.Special
educationteacherswillbringIEP'stoContethisFriday,July1tosharewithclassroomteachers.

MedicalNeeds:Wehaveseveralstudentsinourprogramwithallergies.AllmedicationswillbehousedintheSummer
SchoolOffice(Room8).Ifyouhavestudentswithallergiesand/ormedicationyouwillreceivenotificationonFriday.A
nursewillbeassignedtooursite.Oncewereceivethenursingschedulewewillforwardthatinformationtoyou.

Enrichment:Thiswasadirectiveforourprogramthisyear.OutsideofGirlScoutsandLittleScientists,wewillneedto
getcreativewithourothertypesofenrichment.Youmaywanttoconsiderdoingsometypeofenrichmentwiththeboys
inyourclassroomwhilethegirlsareinGirlScouts.Thiscanalsobetiedintoreadingcenters/stations,orinthemath
blockonsomedays.AdriannaChomaandEvaLandauwouldbeagreatresourceforsomereadingideas.GirlScouts
andLittleScientistsspecificswillbesharedwithyouwhenourplansarefinalized.Thismay/maynotincludeallgrade
levels.
