Streszczenie
Reniec grski (Rhodiola rosea L.) naley do grupy rolin leczniczych o szerokim spektrum
dziaania farmakologicznego. Azjatycka tradycja jego stosowania wskazuje na dziaanie
przeciwstresowe, kardioochronne, stymulujce orodkowy ukad nerwowy, przeciwno-
wotworowe i przeciwutleniajce. Wyniki nielicznych przeprowadzonych do tej pory
bada naukowych wycigw z reca wskazuj na dziaanie zwikszajce umysow i
fizyczn wydolno organizmu, dziaanie przeciwutleniajce, przeciwnowotworowe oraz
dziaanie zmniejszajce nasilenie objaww niepodanych, zwizanych ze stosowaniem
niektrych chemioterapii przeciwnowotworowych. Zwizki czynne surowca to m.in. fe-
nylopropanoidy (gwnie rozawina), zwizki fenolowe (salidrozyd), monoterpeny, fla-
wonoidy i olejki eteryczne. Od lat osiemdziesitych obserwuje si wzrost zainteresowania
przemysu zielarskiego i farmaceutycznego recem i pozyskiwaniem surowca z tej
roliny. Spowodowao to rozwj bada nad tradycyjnymi i biotechnologicznymi metodami
otrzymywania surowca.

Summary
Rhodiola rosea L., roseroot (Golden root, Arctic root) is a herbaceous perennial plant of
family Crassulaceae. It is widely distributed in Arctic and mountainous regions of Asia and
Europe. Roseroot is a popular plant in traditional Asian medicine, reported to stimulate
the nervous system, enhance physicial and mental work performance, eliminate fatigue,
and possess adaptogenic, cardioprotective, anticancer and antioxidant properties. Some
activities of Rhodiola rosea extracts have been proved in pharmacological and clinical stud-
ies. The psychostimulating activity is the most interesting aspect of the plant and raises
great hopes for the implementation in medicine and food supplements.
The roots of Rhodiola rosea contain a range of biologically active compounds: phenylpro-
panoids (rosavins), phenolic compounds (salidroside), monoterpens, flavonoids, p-tyrosol,
organic acids. Extracts of this plant induce favorable changes in a variety of diverse of
physiological functions, including neurotransmitter levels, central nervous system activ-
ity and cardiovascular function. The stimulating effect on the central nervous system has
been associated to changes of dopamine and serotonin levels in brain. The adaptogenic
properties of Rhodiola rosea have been attributed to its ability to influence level and activity
of monoamines and opioid peptides such as beta-endorphins. The antioxidant and protec-
tive properties of different kind of tissues of the extract of roseroot have been proved in
many studies.
The biotechnological investigations on Rhodiola rosea have been carried out in many coun-
tries (Russia, Germany, Finland, Poland and others). The main goal of the researchers is
to enhance the content of biologically active compounds in tissue cultures by elicitation
or biotransformation methods. Nowadays a growing interest of pharmaceutical, cosmetic
and food industries is observed in this new alternative way of obtaining valuable raw plant
material.
