Today is yet another milestone for the AMISOM Police
after having seen 25 police officers from Jubbaland
State of Somalia graduate with the skills of close
protection. These police officers are now expected to
be able to provide security to their principals or their
members of parliament and other Very Important
Persons in the state.

STORY

Twenty-five close protection officers from Jubbaland state


graduate from training

KISMAYO, 20 May 2017 - Twenty-five close protection police


officers from Jubbaland state have successfully concluded a two-
week intensive close protection course, held at the Police Training
Unit in Kismaayo.

A pass out parade for the officers was held in Kismayo, the
administrative capital of Jubbaland, before Jubbaland Police
Commander, Ahmed Nasir Guleed and senior AMISOM officials.

The training was short; but you have done a commendable job. I
expect you to do more in the future, Mr. Ahmed Nasir Guleed told
the graduands, while appealing to AMISOM to increase further the
training support to Jubbaland Police.

Mr. Christopher Momu, AMISOM Police Deputy Training Coordinator


said the officers had been equipped with skills to avert attacks and
assassinations carried out by insurgents against top government
officials.

These police officers are now expected to be able to provide


security to their principals or members of parliament; and other
Very Important Persons in the state, Mr. Momu noted.

Khadija Mohamed, a graduand, said she had gained invaluable


knowledge and skills, which she would make her work effective.
I am grateful for the training I have taken. We learnt how to provide
protection to Very Important Persons, Khadija stated.

Feisal Abdullahi, another graduand, concurred with Khadija, I can


do a lot with the two weeks training I have undertaken. I am very
happy with the training. Based on what I have learnt, I believe that I
can protect myself and the lives of others, Feisal said.
