THE SENATE

STATE OF NEW YORK

SIMCHA FELDER
Senator, 17th DIstrict

May 24, 2017

Senator Jeffrey Klein

Room 432 CAP
Albany, NY 12247

Dear Senator Klein:

I am in receipt of your Unity Pledge letter of May 22, 2017 and if it was not
such a serious matter, I might find the letter entertaining, but I do not believe in
misleading people.

Under your leadership, the Independent Democratic Conference represents

25% (8 out of 32) of loyal Democrats. The IDC 8 continue to prevent Democrats
from having a majority in the New York State Senate.

Although I am no longer a practicing CPA, it would make more sense for

your 25% to rejoin the rest of the Democrats rather than everyone else join you and
support issues you deem a priority. Who are you to decide what the legislative
priorities are for loyal Democrats across New York State? There are many
significant issues that are important to Democrats. While I concur with you that the
Democrats must work together to confront challenges ahead for New York, there
are many such issues that you have failed to include in your so-called Unity
Pledge.

I would be delighted to discuss legislation with you at your convenience, but

I must urge you to first uni& with your Democrat colleagues and not just highlight
a handful of issues that attempt to distinguish you from the Republican
Conference,

Instead of sending letters to other Democrats and producing fancy videos to
make us believe that you are advocating for issues important to Democrats, I
suggest you put aside any personal conflicts you may have with the Senate
Democrats and unconditionally and publicly rejoin the Democrats.

If you truly seek unity, then come to Albany and publicly unite with
Democrats and Call the Roll on the Senate floor to bring Democrats back to the
majority in the Senate. I would welcome unity if it effectuates my priority to have
the greatest positive impact on my constituents and all New Yorkers.

Sincerely,

ha Felder
