- A safety harness.
The telescopic column makes the vertical travel of the seat. It has three
sections:
- The seat base attached to the cockpit floor. It has a supply wire, which
connects to the seat pan.
- The column.
- A moving part, which holds the seat pan.
The seating assembly has two parts:
- The seat pan that is a metallic structure attached to the telescopic column.
The electrical and mechanical controls of the seat are on the pedestal side

Captain and F/O Seats Power Supply
The pedestal side of the seat pan includes two control switches, one for
the horizontal travel, one for the vertical travel.
The frequency converter supplies A/C power to the control circuitry. It
is attached to the structure of the main avionics compartment.
Through the cockpit floor, the pilot's seats are connected directly to the
electrical connector of the converter.
The pilot seat's electrical controls need a three-phase 115VAC/400HZ.
The A/C electrical system supplies a single-phase 115VAC/360-800HZ
to the frequency converter.
Due to this variable frequency the power supply of the seats is composed
of a single frequency converter, which is supplied by a single-phase
115VAC/360-800HZ, generates two three-phase 115VAC/400HZ.
This output is dispatched to both pilot's seats.

Foot Warmers
There is two pairs of Foot Warmers, one for each pilot, installed in front
of the rudder pedals.
Two heating plates made of metal and connected to heating resistances
constitute them.
A temperature controller located under the patch of metal commands
each heating resistance.
The temperature is adjusted at the time of the system installation and
stays at the same degree. Temperature settings is adjustable from 20C
to 30C in steps of 2C, but the pilots have the possibility to switch-on
or switch-off the system.
An over-temperature switch at approximately 75C, switches off the
heater.

Operation Panel Description
Both Trolley Lift Systems have each two identical panels, one at the MD
and one at the UD.
The Operation Panel integrates all operations, indications and safety
elements for the lifts.
Three push buttons, Up, Down and OK and a red Stop button are installed
for operator inputs.
A feedback is given through a graphic display (4rows, 20 characters) and
a green LED is used to indicate that the system is in "OPERATIVE"
state.
The Operation Panel comprises a buzzer to send an acoustic feedback to
the cabin personal when the lift Cage enters the MD or UD position.
The OK button is not visible in normal operation mode. Only when the
operator tries to enter the maintenance mode, the OK button is lighted
and will be visible to the operator.
The Stop button is designed to fulfill the "lock in place" requirement.
All input and output data is processed through a micro controller inside
the Operation Panel.
The Operation Panel receives signals from the external door sensor block
and from the positioning bridge. All sensor signals are processed by the
micro controller and supplied to the Trolley Lift Controller via CAN bus.

Trolley Lift Controller
The controller of the AFT lift is installed in the trunk stowage of the UD
lift above the trunk door.
The controller of the L02 lift is installed aside the mast assembly opposite
the driving unit. A maintenance access panel is installed in the galley.
The Trolley Lift Controller is the central control and monitoring unit for
each lift system. As the Trolley Lift Controller supplies and monitors the
Driving Unit, it consequently controls the up and downwards movement
of the lift Cage. The Trolley Lift Controller receives operator commands
and sensors information from the Operation Panel as well as further sensor
information from the position encoder and its internal sensor. From this
information, the correct settings for speed and position control of the
Driving Unit are derived.

ESCAPE FACILITIES DESCRIPTION (3)

Slides Arrangement and Escape Facilities Location
The A380 passenger doors are electromechanically driven and controlled
by the Door and Slide Management System (DSMS).
The main deck passenger doors and upper deck passenger doors are
different in their geometry. The location of the emergency slide raft
systems.
- The Main Deck doors M1, M2, M4 and M5 L/R have a door mounted
slide raft system.
- The Main Deck door M1 L/R has an extendable slide in order to deal
with the large sill height range.
- The Main Deck door M3 L/R has a belly fairing integrated slide system,
including of a slide/ramp combination.
- The Upper Deck doors U1, U2 and U3 L/R have a fuselage integrated
slide raft system.
If an emergency occurs, there are three possibilities for the cockpit crew
to leave the aircraft:
- Evacuation through the cabin and then use the passenger door escape
slide facilities,
- Evacuation through the sliding windows by using the escape rope,
- Evacuation through the avionics compartment by using the access hatch
and the escape ladder.

Slide Activation
Although the DSMS is an overall centralized system, the emergency
functions used to operate the doors and the logics for slide activation are
designed to work independently of the aircraft power supply at each door.
The Local Door Controller (LDC) is an electronic Line Replaceable Unit
(LRU) located in each passenger door and is necessary for door activation,
control and monitoring functions.
Additionally the LDC carries out the emergency opening and slide
deployment functions.
In case of aircraft power loss the LDC can operate the door opening
functions and slide activation using its own internal Door Emergency
Power Supply (DEPS).
The Door and Slide Indication Panel (DSIP) is installed on the doorframe
side opposite from the hinge arm position at shoulder height.
The DSIP contains the door swiveling pushbuttons (OPEN/CLOSE), a
buzzer (option) and indicates the door status as follows:
- LOCKED (green).
- UNLOCKED (amber).
- FULLY OPEN (white).
- SLIDE NOT READY (flashing red).
In the observation window, the "SLIDE ARMED" warning light comes
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM25DA000000001

on white and a buzzer sounds when the slide is armed and the door control
handle is moved up above an angle of 29.
The Manual Inflation Pushbutton (MIP) is installed at each upper right
doorframe side, looking outboards. It comes illuminated and active
following a included in the LDC.
By pushing the MIP the slide squibs are activated again, if the automatic
deployment fails.

Slide Activation (continued)
Inflator Assembly
The inflator assembly has three major components:
o The gas generator module.
o The coolant reservoir.
o The control valve module.
The gas generator module contains the propellant charge, which
initially burns to create the hot gases that are injected into the coolant
chamber.
The initiator squib activates the burning of the propellant and
pressurizes the gas generator module to an acceptable level to maintain
the burning and burn rate of the propellant, which are dependant on
the pressure in the gas generator module. The propellant will not
maintain a burning under normal atmospheric conditions.
The pressure in the Gas Generator module reaches a level where the
burst disk ruptures. At this point the hot gases produced by the burning
propellant are forced under pressure into the coolant chamber.
The coolant chamber made of carbon fiber composite contains a mix
of carbon dioxide and nitrogen to cool the hot propellant gases down
to an acceptable level.
The cooled gas is transferred to the control valve module where it is
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM25DA000000001

regulated at a pre-set level.

An actuator squib actuates the valve and the air is discharged in the
slide.
The control valve module has an over pressure relief port.
The inflation gases flow into the evacuation slide via the inflation
hoses and the aspirators.

Pack-board Attachment
The concept to attach the slide raft pack to the door is a three-point
attachment. This concept is a quick installation without using any
special tools.
The pack-board is engaged to the lower support brackets and attached
on top by the upper latch mechanism.
This lock has a lever assembly, which is over centered and secured
after engagement with door side fitting.
The pack-board's upper latch mechanism and the lower attachments
are coded to prevent the installation of an evacuation system on the
wrong door.

Girt Bar Fittings
The girt assembly attaches the inflatable assembly to the aircraft.
The girt bar has two installation positions, DISARMED (usual
operation - park position) or ARMED (emergency operation).
During usual operation the girt bar is attached to the door structure.
In emergency operation the girt bar is attached to the floor fittings.
Two visual indicators indicate mechanically the status
(ARMED/DISARMED) of the slide system.
A guide fittings installed with a quick release pins are installed on
each side of the girt bar to facilitate the removal installation of the
package.

M1 Slide Extension
On the M1 L/R doors, a slide-extension system makes the slide longer
than its usual length, if the doorsill height increases after an emergency
landing. The high height is detected by two pitch attitude sensors. For
the extension, the LDC operates a squib and receive a feedback by a
switch. In case of ditching configuration, the extension is inhibited.
The slide-extension system includes these components:
- A slide-extension.
- An extension-cord cutter squib.
- A Slide-extension switch.
- Two pitch-attitude sensors.
The slide-extension is at the end of the initial inflatable assembly and
it is held in position with retention-flaps. Speed lacing holds the flaps
together.
The Extension Cord-Cutter Squib is part of the lacing. The squib is a
pyrotechnic cartridge that has a bridge wire contained in an explosive
material.
The Slide-Extension Switch is part of the lacing. The switch monitors
the condition of the slide-extension.
The pitch attitude sensor measures the aircraft pitch, to detect if the

doorsill height has increased. The pitch attitude sensors are installed
close to each LH and RH doors.

Coding Pin Allocation
The pack-boards are not interchangeable. They have a mechanical
code system to prevent installation at an incorrect door. The lower
hooks have two different widths; doors M1 and M5 L/R are wider
than doors M2 and M4 L/R. The upper attachment has coding-pins
that are aligned with holes on the door interface in order not to confuse
left hand side and right hand side.

Belly Fairing Mounted Evacuation System
Doors M3 are an over wing emergency exit with a sill height to the wing
(of approximately 1.4 meter).
The evacuation system has an inflatable ramp and a slide portion that is
integrated into the belly fairing and therefore makes a rigid connection
to the aircraft.
The slide/ramp is not capable of acting as slide raft.
There is a ditching signal that prevents door M3 unit activation in case
of aircraft ditching (inhibited by LDC logic) by activating the "ditching
switch" in the cockpit.
