CIDS
System Architecture
The main components of the Cabin Intercommunication Data System
(CIDS) are:
- three directors,
- Decoder/Encoder Units (DEUs) type A dedicated to passenger related
functions,
- DEUs type B dedicated to cabin support systems and cabin crew
related functions,
- Flight Attendant Panels (FAPs), mini-FAPs, Attendant Indication
Panels (AIPs), Area Call Panels (ACPs), Additional Attendant Panels
(AAPs) for controls and indicating,
- communication devices like handsets and loudspeakers.
The CIDS directors, the DEUs A and B are powered by 28 VDC from
DC BUS 1 or DC GND SerViCE BUS.
The FAP is powered by 28 VDC from DC BUS 1.
When the A/C is powered, the CIDS is powered as well.

The Main Deck (MD) FAP is installed at the chief purser station near
M1L door.
The Upper Deck (UD) FAP is installed at the assistant chief purser
station near U1L door.

FAP Presentation
The FAP which is the main CIDS human-machine interface comprises:
- a touch screen to display and to select the different FAP pages,
- a hardkey panel which gives access to major functions independently
from the touch screen.
The FAP touch screen includes:
- A/C symbols and soft keys,
- system and function keys,
- deck selection keys,
- a screen off key,
- a heading row to display page title,
- a cabin status key to display the cabin status page.

Cabin Interphone Communication
The cabin interphone system is used for the communication between
cabin crew stations, and between cockpit and cabin crew stations.
There are different cockpit devices to communicate with the cabin:
- Radio and Audio Management Panel (RMP) with a CABin key,
- acoustic devices,
- cockpit handset.
In addition, there are several components dedicated to communication
in the cabin:
- cabin handsets,
- loudspeakers,
- ACPs,
- AIPs.
Cabin crew stations are installed in door areas.

Service Interphone Communication
The service interphone system is used for the communication between:
- service areas,
- cockpit and service areas,
- service areas and cabin crew stations.
The service interphone system operates automatically either:
- when the Nose Landing Gear (NLG) compressed signal is received
from the Landing Gear Extraction/Retraction System (LGERS),
- or the L/G is not compressed and external power is available.
In the cockpit, the service interphone is selected via the RMP or the
handset.
On the cockpit overhead panel, the SVCE INTerphone OverRiDe P/BSW
can be used to manually switch on the service interphone system.
In the cabin, service area communication is initiated from the cabin
handset.
Interphone jacks are installed at these following service areas:
- FWD avionics compartment,
- NLG,
- emergency avionics compartment,
- AFT avionics compartment,
- FWD cargo compartment,

- air conditioning bay,


- hydraulic compartment,
- AFT cargo light panel,
- near Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR),
- trim actuator,
- APU.

NOTE: A service interphone jack is also installed on each engine.

Cabin Lighting
General Lighting
Cabin general lighting is mainly controlled from the FAP
On the FAP touch screen, selection keys are used for the display of
the related deck lighting page (main deck, upper deck, lower deck or
all decks).
When the dedicated lighting page is shown, many other control keys
are available:
- the Main On/Off button is only active on ground and is used to switch
on or off the cabin lights,
- the AISLE, CENTer and WinDOw buttons switch on or off the lights
in the relative zones (aisle or center light strips, windows lights),
- the zone control keys are used for lighting controls of different A/C
zones (first class, business class, tourist class).
Each zone and entrance area is represented by an A/C symbol on the
FAP. This gives an immediate feedback and/or indication of the light
intensity in all zones.
The FAP is installed:
- at chief purser station (M1L door area) for Main Deck (MD) FAP,
- at U1L door area for Upper Deck (UD) FAP.

For maintenance purposes, the LIGHT MAIN ON/OFF hardkey


located on the FAP sub-panel switches on or off all the cabin lights.

Cabin Lighting (continued)
Entrance Areas
Entrance area lighting is done by spotlights.
For each entrance area, related control soft keys are located on the
FAP lighting page to set brightness to different levels:
- full lighting (100%) for BRIGHT,
- 50% for DIM 1,
- 10% for DIM 2.
In addition, entrance area lights can be controlled either from the
optional mini-FAP or from the Additional Attendant Panel (AAP).

Passengers and Attendant Lights
The passenger Light Emitting Diode (LED) reading lights are installed
on the related Passenger Service Unit (PSU).
These reading lights can be switched on and off individually either:
- from the related pushbutton on the PSU,
- or from the Passenger Control Unit (PCU) installed on the passenger
seat itself.
In addition, on the FAP lighting page, the Reading/Light (R/L) SET and
R/L RESET buttons are only active on ground and are used to switch all
the reading lights on or off.
Stand-alone signs are also installed in different cabin areas:
- No Smoking (NS) signs,
- Fasten Seat Belt (FSB) signs,
- Return To Seats (RTS) signs,
- lavatory occupied signs.
NS and FSB signs, with LED lights, are controlled:
- manually from the cockpit related toggle switches (on SIGNS panel),
- or automatically according to A/C configuration.
The lavatory occupied signs are lighted up by red or green LEDs
according to the status of the assigned lavatory compartment.
The attendant work lights are installed for the attendant seats areas and

special working areas. They can be individually switched on and off from
the related P/B.

Crew Rest Compartment Lights
FCRC
The Flight Crew Rest Compartment (FCRC) general lighting can be
controlled from the dedicated FAP cabin lighting MD page.
Brightness level can be set to 100%, 50% or 10%.
In addition, each bunk has a control panel to control the related reading
light.

Crew Rest Compartment Lights (continued)
LD-CCRC
Typically, the Lower Deck Cabin Crew Rest Compartment
(LD-CCRC) has a lighting system which includes:
- Advanced Integrated Ballast Units (AIBUs) with associated
fluorescent tubes for general lighting (staircase lights, side stowage
lights),
- wall-mounted auxiliary lights,
- exit sign.
In addition, each bunk has a service unit, which comprises a reading
light and its related P/B.
The changing area has also a reading light installed.
General lighting of a crew rest compartment is controlled from the
FAP cabin lighting LD page. Brightness level can be set to 100%,
50% or 10%.
An AAP is also installed on an information column to provide
additional lights controls.

UD-CCRC
Typically, the UD Cabin Crew Rest Compartment (UD-CCRC) has
a lighting system which includes:
- integrated ballast units with associated fluorescent tubes for general
lighting (ceiling light, floor lights),
- wall-mounted auxiliary lights,
- exit signs.
In addition, each bunk has a service unit which comprises a reading
light and its related P/B.
General lighting of a crew rest compartment is controlled from the
FAP cabin lighting UD page. Brightness level can be set to 100%,
50% or 10%.
An AAP is also installed on an information column to provide
additional lights controls.

Emergency Lights
The emergency lights include:
- entrance area emergency spotlights,
- EXIT signs and exit location signs,
- ceiling emergency lights,
- floor path marking lights,
- staircase emergency lights,
- understep emergency lights.
For maintenance purposes, emergency lights system can be independently
operated either:
- from the EMERgency EXIT LighTs switch installed on the cockpit
SIGNS panel,
- or from the FAP emergency P/BSW.
On the SIGNS panel, the EMER EXIT LighT can be set in three
configurations:
- the ON position switches on the emergency lighting system,
- the OFF position switches off the emergency lighting system,
- the ARM position arms the system and switches it on automatically
when the normal and essential powers are not available.

System Architecture
DSMS
The main functions of the Doors and Slides Management System
(DSMS) are:
- doors and slides monitoring and indicating,
- monitoring of the residual cabin pressure (red flashing light
indication),
- inhibition of the A/C pressurization system if one door is open.
In normal condition, the DSMS is powered by the AC network through
a Solid State Power Controller (SSPC).
In emergency configuration, the Autonomous Standby Power Supply
Unit (ASPSU) powers the Doors and Slides Management Control
Unit (DSMCU) and the associated warnings. In this case, the door is
operated by the Local Door Controller (LDC) with its own batteries.
The DSMS is also the interface with the other A/C systems like Cabin
Intercommunication Data System (CIDS) for indication, or Cabin
Pressure Control System (CPCS) for A/C pressurization.

Cabin Doors Inside Opening / Closing System
Each cabin door has:
- a swivel actuator to open the door,
- a de-arrest actuator to unlock the open door for closing,
- a flight lock actuator to lock the latching shaft in flight,
- a residual cabin pressure light (red flashing light),
- a white emergency escape slide light,
- an inner control handle,
- and a girt bar for M1, M2, M4 and M5 doors.
Door locking and unlocking procedure is a manual operation initiated
from the inner control handle.
When the OPEN or CLOSE switches, installed on the Door/Slide
Indication Panel (DSIP), are activated, the swivel actuator operates.
The de-arrest actuator operates first during door closing. When the
A/C is airborne, the flight lock actuator operates to inhibit inadvertent
operation of the door handle.
Cabin doors can be electrically operated even if only the Ground
Power Unit (GPU) is connected to the A/C.
If no electrical power is available, manual opening will be done

following standard precautions.


In case of emergency opening, the door will take 5 seconds to open.
As soon as the inner handle is lifted up, the white emergency escape
slide light comes on.
Door status is indicated:
- on ECAM DOOR/OXY page,
- on FAP door page,
- on visual indicators (locked/unlocked status, girt bar status on M1,
M2, M4, M5 doors).
In addition, girt bars are ice protected.

Cabin Doors Outside Opening / Closing System
The outer handle is used for the unlocking and locking of the cabin
door from the outside.
The open and close door P/Bs are installed on the door handle recess.
They can be activated if the outer handle is lifted up.
Each door window allows checking escape slide status and cabin
residual pressure from outside.
For the overwing emergency exit:
- the outer handle is installed on the lower part of the door to operate
when standing on the wing,
- the red flashing light is mounted at the top of the door window to
make it clearly seen before door opening.
If the door is armed, door outside opening will automatically disarm
the door.

Door Sill Draining System
The internal door structure is designed such as fluid accumulation cannot
occur within the door structure.
The upper deck cabin doors have a door sill draining system. On ground,
in case of heavy rain, the water can drop on the upper deck floor.
Water is collected and drained to the bottom of the A/C fuselage using
plastic drain hoses.

Escape Slide System
In case of an emergency, the escape slide system is designed to enable
passengers to leave the A/C.
For each door, the main components of the escape slide system are:
- slide arming/disarming lever with a safety pin installed when the door
is disarmed,
- slide inflation bottle installed in the door slide pack-board,
- slide rafts for passenger doors and slides for emergency overwing exits.
On the Main Deck (MD) doors, when the slide lever is in the "armed"
position and the door is unlocked by using the inner door control handle:
- the DSMS (via the LDC) lights the white emergency escape slide light
and operates the swivel actuator,
- because the girt bar is fixed on the floor, the door opens and the escape
slide fails down,
- the LDC energizes the inflation bottle squibs and the escape slide
inflates.
For upper deck doors and emergency exits, the escape slide system
operates the same way as MD doors, except that there is no girt bar.
When the slide lever is armed and the door is opened from the outer
control handle, the escape slide system is automatically disarmed and the
slide does not deploy.

A manual inflation P/B is installed at the doorframe to fulfill a manual


deployment of the escape slide when the automatic deployment fails.
The inflation bottle has three major components:
- a gas generator (operated by a squib),
- a coolant reservoir,
- and a control valve (operated by a squib).

NOTE: Note: There is no maintenance procedure to isolate the coolant


reservoirs during maintenance on the A/C.
The escape-slide is removed and installed as an assembly.
Coolant reservoir removal is a workshop task.

Ceiling Panels, PSU, Windows Panels and DADO Panels
Cabin panels are attached to the A/C structure by different means.
Passenger Service Units (PSUs) are attached on both sides with C-brackets
attached in a rail.
Studs on one side and panel holders on the other side are used for ceiling
panels attachments. When unlocked, the ceiling panels are retained by a
chord. Some of them have annunciators or emergency lights.
Window panels are attached with fastener at the top and panel holders at
the bottom.
The DADO panels are attached by panel holders at the top and
quick-release fasteners at the bottom.

Sidewall Stowage, Light Cover Panels and OHSC
Upper deck sidewall stowage panels are attached to A/C structure by
means of panel holders.
The light cover panels are attached by a holder on one side; the other side
is attached on the PSU rail by the same attachment as PSU panel.
OverHead Stowage Compartment (OHSC) doors have two dampers to
maintain the doors in the open position. These dampers are pre-charged
in the factory and must be replaced in case of failure.

In case of quick decompression in the cockpit, the unlocked cockpit door
and the rapid decompression flap upstream the door open inside the
cockpit. When the decompression comes from the cabin, the latch of the

FCRC
The Flight Crew Rest Compartment (FCRC) has 8 decompression
panels which blow forward only. In case of a quick decompression
in the cockpit, the FCRC decompression panels and the two FCRC
access doors release air pressure from the cabin.
Each FCRC decompression panel is hand load safe, and opens at a
differential pressure comprised between 30 and 40 hPA.
Both FCRC doors open at a differential pressure of 30 hPA.

To prevent a quick decompression in the cabin or the cargo zones:
- the Upper Deck (UD) has a sidewall stowage assemblies,
- and the Main Deck (MD) has a DADO panel assemblies.
The sidewall stowage assemblies provide a blow-in or blow-out air
circulation.
The DADO panels provide only a blow-out air circulation.
In addition to the cabin decompression assemblies, the aft stair has 4
decompression panels to provide an aft cabin zones decompression.
When the emergency avionics bay depressurizes, the maintenance
access door, the 4 decompression flaps and the 2-decompression panels
blow-in to release the air from the cabin.

Against quick decompressions:
- the LD-CCRC has 19 blow-in and/or blow-out valves,

The CCRC doors and hatch are also operative in case of
decompression.
Each valve opens at a differential pressure of 35 hPA.
The CCRC doors and hatch open at a 60 hPA differential pressure.

Cargo Panels
The FWD and aft cargo compartments has one Pressure Equalization
Valve and decompression panels. Each decompression panel has 10
fasteners; its reinstallation can be operated without any lining panels
removal.
The decompression panels blow-out between 50 and 90 hPA, and blow-in
between 10 and 35 hPA.
The Pressure Equalization Valve protects lining against decompression
damage with an opening differential pressure of 2 hPA.
In front of the loading areas, the decompression panels have a protective
grid:
- 7 panels are protected in the FWD cargo,
- and 5 panels are protected in the aft cargo.
The decompression panels of the bulk cargo compartment give the same
properties as the FWD and aft cargo decompression panels.
Moreover, each bulk cargo decompression panel has a protection panel.

Trash Compactor
The trash compactor collects, compacts and stores the trash from the
cabin activities. An electro-hydraulic system with a triple telescopic
actuator compacts the trash.
The control panel of the trash compactor has:
- one ON and one OFF power P/B,
- one Light Emitting Diode (LED) as operation indicator light,
- one COMPACT P/B,
- one CLEAN P/B for ground service only,
- and one Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) for operation instructions
and warning messages.
The trash door has a door interlock switch. A compacting cycle can
be initiated only when this switch is closed.
In case of maintenance operation, the door interlock switch can be
overridden.

Air Cooling Units
Each galley has one Air Cooling Unit and one Air Cooling Unit control
panel. The Air Cooling Unit control panel gives the manual control
of the temperature and the Air Cooling Unit status on the 3 LED lights.
The FAP monitors the galley cooling system through an Upper Deck
(UD) and a Main Deck (MD) galley cooling pages.
The Air Cooling Units of the center galleys are installed horizontally
and behind the galley structure. Its access is possible after
disassembling the galley front structure.
The Air Cooling Units of the lateral galleys are installed vertically,
and outboard of the galley structure. Its access is operated via the
galley compartment wall.

Toilet Lights
For general lighting each toilet has integrated ballast units installed
on the toilet ceiling.
Light Emitting Diode (LED) type lights are installed for mirror lights
and washtable lights.
Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS) interfaces are also
installed in each toilet:
- Return To Seat (RTS) sign,
- cabin crew call button.
In addition, a razor socket is installed for each toilet.
Toilet lighting is controlled either:
- automatically according to toilet door status (locked/unlocked,
close/open),
- or from the LAVatory MAINTenance hardkey installed on the FAP.
For maintenance purpose, activating the LAV MAINT hardkey will
set all toilet lights to full brightness 100% regardless of door status.
The LAV MAINT hardkey is only active on ground.

TROLLEY LIFT DESCRIPTION (2)


General
There are two trolley lifts, one in the forward and one in the rear cabin.
An optional trolley lift can be installed at the forward of the cabin.
The basic functions of the Trolley Lift Systems is the transportation of:
- one full-size trolley or,
- one or two half-size trolleys or,
- up to six/eight standard units simultaneously (depends on the lift cages
height) or,
- loose items/equipment.
The maximum allowable weight during flight operation is 120 Kg.
The maximum allowable weight on ground operation is 240 Kg.
A mast assembly guides the movement of the trolley container in the
upward and downward direction. The masts are attached to the aircraft
structure (lower mast attachment shown as an example) and have toothed
belts which are driven by driving units to move the lift cage. To protect
persons and objects against the fall into the lift shaft, the trolley container
can be accessed through doors (door 1 and door 2). A head module
supports the cage safety device.

Trolley Lift Main Components
The Trolley Lift Systems are electromechanical drive systems combined
with cabin interior elements. Therefore, a lift system can be divided into
mechanical and electrical assemblies.
The primary structural element of the lift is the mast assembly, which
transmits the drive force of the driving unit through the belt for positioning
and holding of the cage. The lift cages make sure that trolleys and other
loadings can be transported between decks safely. The door of the lift
cages prevents any possible loads from dropping out of the cages. Correct
latching of the cage doors is done by the trunk door. The trunk comprises
a latch which is spring loaded close. The latch bar is locked by a locking
pin, which will be actuated by the lift cages. If the cage is behind the
trunk door the latch will be unlocked, otherwise it will be locked. The
latch can be unlocked manually. The handle of the cage door prevents
closing of the trunk door if the trunk door is not latched correctly. The
lift cages have an intermediate latch for latching the half-size trolley. The
driving unit is identical for all Trolley Lift Systems for interchangeability.
It comprises a drive gear, which is designed for reversible movement.
The electrical system of the Trolley Lift Control System comprises:
- the Driving Unit monitored by a Trolley Lift Controller,
- Upper Deck (UD) and Main Deck (MD) Position bridges,

- UD and MD door sensor blocks,


- UD and MD Operation Panel.
The Door Sensor Block unit is an electromechanical unit. It includes:
- a lock sensor which is a proximity sensor detecting "door unlocked",
- a latch sensor which is a proximity sensor detecting " door latched",
- a door sensor which is a proximity sensor linked to the trunk that
monitors the door position "open " or "closed.

Circuit Breakers and Operation Panel
The trolley lift C/Bs are located on the galley control panel.
The Operation Panels show the human interface between the operator
and the lift system. Both Trolley Lift Systems (L02 and Aft) have two
panels (one on the MD and one on the UD). All Operation Panels are
identical. The Operation Panel integrates all operation, indication and
safety elements for the lifts. Several indications are available on the
graphic display. Three P/Bs (Up, Down and OK) and a red stop button
are provided for operator inputs. Feedback is given through a graphic
display and a LED. The LED is used to indicate that the system is in
'OPERATIVE' state. The OK button is not visible in normal operation
mode. Only when the operator tries to enter the maintenance mode, the
OK button is lighted and visible to the operator. All inputs and outputs
are processed through a microcontroller inside the Operation Panel.
The Operation Panel comprises a buzzer to provide an acoustic feedback
to the cabin personal when the lift cage enters the MD or Lower Deck
(LD) position.

Avionics Compartments
The main avionics bay compartment is accessible in both sides from:
- the cockpit via a hatch and a permanent ladder,
- the ground via a hatch and a telescopic ladder,
- the FWD cargo via the two wall doors.
The access from the FWD cargo needs a specific tool.
The emergency avionics bay compartment is accessible from the cabin
Upper Deck (UD) via one door in the RH side of the FWD cabin stairs.

Rest Compartments and Waste Equipment Bay
Each Flight Crew Rest Compartment (FCRC) is accessible via a door
installed in the cockpit access staircase.
The Upper Deck Cabin Crew Rest Compartment (UD-CCRC) has an
access to the crew via 2 secured doors.
The Lower Deck Cabin Crew Rest Compartment (LD-CCRC) is
accessible via:
- 2 doors and a staircase, in normal mode,
- an escape hatch, in emergency mode.
The waste equipment bay, located in the aft pressurized zone, is accessible

In this case, the level pre-selection before water refilling can be done
System Architecture either from the FAP or via the PWIP.
This automatic water refilling is powered by 28 VDC from GND SerViCE
In normal configuration, three potable water tanks are installed for each

All galley and toilets have manual potable water shut-off valves.
Water refilling and drainage can be done via the potable water service
panel.
Also, a FWD drain panel and a FWD drain valve are installed for the
drainage of the potable water system.

The potable water service panel includes:
- a door switch which gives power to the panel when the door is open,
- a fill/drain control handle,
- a fill/drain nipple,
- an overflow nipple,
- a Potable Water Indication Panel (PWIP) including level pre-selection.
On ground, if electrical power is available, potable water quantity can
be mainly read on the Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS)
FAP Water/Waste page. This quantity is also displayed on the PWIP.

The water treatment module is located near the water reservoirs on the

Potable Water Pressurization System
The water reservoirs are simultaneously pressurized by two compressors
located on the LH side of the AFT cargo compartment.
For maintenance purposes, the reservoirs can be pressurized by using a
GND pressure connection.
Each compressor has its own inlet filter (LRU).
The air pressure manifold located above the compressors includes:
- a GND pressure connection,
- two pressure switches (HP and LP),
- an overpressure relief valve.
On ground, when the potable water service panel is open, both
compressors are inhibited.

Water Filling
Water reservoirs refilling can be done with or without electrical power.
If electrical power is available (automatic mode):
- the reservoir level can be pre-selected from the FAP or the PWIP,
- the AFT fill/drain valve is mechanically opened by turning the handle
to fill the reservoirs,
- the AFT fill/drain valve is automatically closed by electrical power
when the reservoir is full or at the pre-selected level.
If electrical power is not available (manual mode):
- the AFT fill/drain valve is mechanically opened by turning the handle
to fill the reservoirs,
- when the water overflows through the overflow nipple, the AFT fill/drain
valve must be manually closed via the handle.

NOTE: Note: In manual mode, the level pre-selection is not available.

Water Draining

General
System Architecture
There are four separate waste systems including tanks, vacuum
generators, waste separators and waste drain valves.
Each one has separate pipes for:
- Main Deck (MD) LH side,
- MD RH side,
- Upper Deck (UD) LH side,
- UD RH side.
Vacuum pressure is created inside the waste tanks for correct waste
flow.
Above 16000 ft (4877 m), the vacuum generators are stopped and the
cabin to ambient differential pressure (p) is used to create the vacuum
pressure.
Below 16000 ft (4877 m) or on ground, vacuum generators are used
for the flushing.
To protect the vacuum generators and to prevent waste water to go
through them, a waste separator is installed at the top of each tank.
The waste service panel door switch inhibits the vacuum system during
waste servicing.

Waste Servicing
The waste servicing is done from the waste service panel.
It is located on the aft lower fuselage and includes:
- four waste drain valves control levers,
- a waste drain nipple,
- and four rinsing and pre-charge nipples.
During servicing, the vacuum generators are inhibited when the waste
service panel is open.
After the four tanks are drained, they must be rinsed and pre-charged
using disinfectant fluid.
At 5%, the pre-charge level is indicated on the FAP.

VACCUM LIGHTS SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (2)


System Overview
The waste equipment bay has two Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) type
service lights. They are installed in the bay ceiling above the waste tanks.
The lights are controlled from a toggle switch installed near the FWD
service light.
For maintenance purposes, the system also includes one 28 VDC power
outlet installed near the AFT service light.
The service lights and the power outlet are energized from the 28 VDC
GND service BUS.
Access to the waste equipment bay is done through the bulk compartment
door, which is installed on the rear wall of the bulk cargo compartment.

CABIN OXYGEN SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (2)


Architecture / Power Supply
The oxygen cylinders are installed in the RH side of the forward cargo
compartment.
The oxygen is supplied to the passenger masks through a distribution
circuit which is as follows: high pressure is reduced to low pressure by
the pressure reducer/transmitters. LP oxygen flows via the oxygen
regulator to the distribution lines connected to the masks.
The masks are presented either automatically when the cabin altitude is
higher than 14000 ft (4267 m) or manually on crew action.
HP and LP oxygen circuits are discharged overboard in case of
overpressure.
Passenger oxygen system operation is controlled and monitored by the
Oxygen System Control Unit (OSCU), which is supplied by 28 VDC
from the ESSential bus.
The OXYGEN RESET P/BSW is used to reset the electrical system and
to close the oxygen regulator after operation. It only operates if cabin
altitude is less than 10000 ft (3048 m).

Cabin Masks Servicing (continued)
Cabin Mask Stowage
Proper stowing of the mask is essential for efficient operation of the
passenger masks. Fold the reservoir bag into three parts. Put the elastic
headband and the reservoir bag into the oxygen mask. Wind the supply
hose clockwise and put it into the oxygen mask. Make sure the supply
hose is not twisted and that it is correctly connected to the regulation
and distribution unit. Put the mask in the position shown on the
container instruction label. Put the lanyard on the oxygen mask. Check
that they are not twisted and do not touch the regulation and
distribution unit. Then, close the door of the container. Door latches
must correctly engage.

Oxygen Bottle Replacement
Removal of oxygen cylinders requires access to the FWD cargo
compartment.
Remove the RH sidewall panels. Close the manual shut-off valves on all
emergency oxygen cylinders. Open the test ports to release the pressure
from the system. Disconnect the electrical connector, the pressure reducer
and the overboard discharge line. Put blanking caps on all disconnected
lines. Open the two cylinders straps. Then, carefully remove the oxygen
cylinder. Place the cylinder in an approved rack.
To install another oxygen cylinder, put the cylinder in position, close the
clamps and tighten the associated nuts.
Put the pressure reducer/transmitter in position and tighten the nut.
Connect the overboard discharge line and close the test ports.
Do a leak check by opening the manual shut-off valves.
Install the sidewall panels and close the FWD compartment door.

Oxygen Cylinder Filling System
Oxygen cylinders pressure can be checked:
- on the ECAM DOOR/OXY page,
- on the servicing report,
- or on the oxygen fill panel pressure gage.
If refilling is authorized by local regulations, it will be done from the
oxygen fill panel which is installed in the FWD cargo compartment.
Before refilling, the overboard discharge indicator must show green and
all manual shut-off valves must be open.
The oxygen fill panel has a dedicated filling port and a pressure gage
which shows the average pressure in all oxygen cylinders.
During refilling, the pressure must not increase by more than 200 psi
(13.8 bar) in a minute.
Oxygen cylinder normal pressure is at 1850 psi (127.6 bar).
Filling procedure must be stopped if all oxygen cylinder pressures do not
increase smoothly together.
During filling operation, avoid risk of explosion.

Cabin Oxygen System
Average temperature compensated cylinder pressure displayed separately
for crew and passenger system.
To deactivate the system, the pilot can push the reset switch on the
overhead panel in the cockpit. The oxygen regulator shutoff valves close
and the low-pressure part of the oxygen distribution system is not supplied
with oxygen anymore. The oxygen containers stay open.

CAUTION: For system test, door stops shall be operated to prevent full
oxygen masks deployment.

Cabin Oxygen System (continued)
Discharge Indicator
The high-pressure safety outlet on the oxygen cylinder head, and the
low-pressure safety outlet on the pressure reducer/transmitter are
connected to a discharge indicator on the fuselage skin.
The discharge indicator is a green blowout disc that can be seen from
outside of the A/C. This disc will blow out at a pressure of 3.5 barg
to show a yellow indicator. This indicates there has been a discharge
of oxygen.
