This research work examines the possible impact the concentration of septic tanks around

water well may have on the water well.

Septic tank is particularly suitable measure to deal with the sewage of individual residence

either in village or town or small aggregations of people such as in factories, in schools, in

colonies.

Also, water well serves as source of domestic supply of water mostly in village and towns.

So, the proximity of the concentration of septic tank around water well may contaminate the

water well if the required standard set back is not observed before siting septic tanks or vice

versa. It is recommended that 100ft from the water wells should be observed as set back

before siting a septic tank or vice versa. Hence it is important to determine the level and the

kind of contamination that may arises from the distance of siting either of water wells or

septic tanks around each other.

This research only examine the possible impact of the septic tanks around water well in Sabo

Area, Ilesha, Osun State.
