Abstract:

Wireless communication revolutionized the entire world. The

most popular wireless communication technologies are
mobile communication, WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network),
and WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network), which are all
included in smart phones. Among WLAN types Wi-Fi is most
popular, and among WPAN types Bluetooth is most popular.

In addition, the evolution of mobile communication

technologies is explained starting from the 1st generation (1G)
all the way to the most advanced 4th generation (4G)
systems. In addition, further details on the state-of-the-art
LTE (Long Term Evolution) and LTE-Advanced 4G mobile
communication technologies are presented.

Bluetooth is one of the newest technologies whose main

strength is its ability to simultaneously handle both data and
voice communications.

Bluetooth is a new technology standard launched in

1998.Bluetooth is a radio frequency specification for short
range, point to point to multi point voice and data
transfer.Bluetooth technology provides a low cost,low power
and low connectivity solution for ad-hoc wireless
connectivity.When arriving home,your PDA(Personal Digital
Assistant) synchronizes with your house and the front door
unlocks, preferential lighting comes on and any other pre-set
configuration become active. The possibilities for Bluetooth
are huge.

Wi-fi is a brand originally licensed by the Wi-Fi Alliance to

describe the underlying technology of wireless local area
networks(WLAN) based on the IEEE 802.11 specifications.

Wi-fi was intended to be used for mobile computing devices,

such as laptops, in LANS, but is now often used for
increasingly more applications, including internet and VoIP
phone access, gaming, and basic connectivity of consumer
electronics such as televisions and DVD player.

4G wireless communication networks are charaterized by the

need to support heterogeneous terminals differing in
size,display, battery ,computational power, etc.WWRF
defines it as a network that operates on internet technology
combining with other applications and technologies like Wi-Fi,
and runs at high speeds.Approximately 4G deployments are
expected to be seen around 2015 to 2017.

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the project name of a new high

performance air interface for cellular mobile communication
systems. It is the last step toward the 4th generation (4G) of
radio technologies designed to increase the capacity and
speed of mobile telephone networks. Where the current
generation of mobile telecommunication networks are
collectively known as 3G, LTE is marketed as 4G. LTE is a
standard for wireless data communications technology and
an evolution of the GSM/UMTS standards .

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.
